The joking is actually realistic. People who work around death often develop a dark sense of humor (called "gallows humor") in order to cope with all the death and darkness surrounding them every day. It's not about being callous or insensitive towards the victims, but keeping themselves sane
yes, thats also the same deal with healthcare workers; nurses and doctors. We have some dark sense of humour and laughing is our sense of handling it, ofcourse not infront of patients and ofcourse not disrespecting them.
My husband and I took a cooking class years ago and one of the people at our table of 4 turned out to be one of the local medical examiners. His cell phone rang and he said, "Sorry. People are just dying to talk me!" 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't recognize the episode title, but I remembered it's plot as soon as the episode started. It was one of those episodes that really stuck with me after the fact. The twist of what happened to the victim followed immediately by the Garcia cliffhanger was just incredible to see back in the day.
What happened to the victim still turns my stomach - as much as I love Criminal Minds, I have a really hard time rewatching this episode and the pig farm episodes.
@@Kayjee17 Oh my lord the pig farm episodes... While the cannibalism episode(s) was horrible to think about from a moral standpoint, the pig farms were just straight up scary for me to think about after the fact. Really made me look at pigs differently for a while...
Thankfully I never watched this show new. It was always any rerun playing on TV until like season 12. (Or whatever season ended with the big truck crash)
Believe it or not, this is my comfort show, the one I watch when I am feeling bad. I have seasons 1-15 on DVD. And this is a really good episode to start with.
My comfort show, too. Not sure I'd have started with this episode, though. Two parter and you need to know a lot about the interpersonal relationships. I'd have chosen a true standalone murder of the week episode.
Mosley Lane s5e16 Seven Seconds s3e5 Riding the Lightning s1e14 Profiler, Profiled s2e12 (answers your questions about the tough black guy and the bad thing that happened to him)
I'd also add S10 E21 Mr Scratch. It's a personal favourite of mine and it's a good noob watch because there isn't a lot of past lore behind it, so you aren't missing anything watching it blind(except maybe the cast change)
They call these type of shows "Procedurals". Every show has crime to be solved AND a little more of the back story. Garcia is insecure about her looks. She has friendly banter with Morgan (the black guy). JJ is nice, Emily is focused, Reid is smart, Morgan is a beefcake (but also smart), Rossi is the old hand (started the BAU) and Hotch is their leader.
Garcia is not insecure about her looks. She's full of confidence and self-love. She just is realistic. There's an important difference. And the show worked really hard to make sure that Garcia was never portrayed as the butt of the jokes with regard to her physical appearance.
@@jhopeur7219 I stand corrected. The only episode that has her seemingly being concerned about that sort of thing is this one. I was trying to give a brief description of each character. But I apologize. Garcia is perfect in my opinion.
The girl with the gallows humor is my favorite character. I can't believe you didn't watch the next episode. I would've started off with the next one inmediately.
Excluding the ones where one of the team is involved (with Foyet, Mr Scratch, Reid getting abducted, Maeve dying...), the saddest episode is the one that has the saddest line: He was alive yesterday?
Every time I rewatch, I skip the pig farm and the one with "the prince of darkness". I love Ellie, but can't stand the thought how out of all the men in the world the last person who touched those women was THAT guy.
I may not remember much about this episode but I remembered Tracy being fed to people. I completely forgot about the ending until I saw Garcia meeting that dude at the coffee shop. I remembered it happened but I didn’t remember what episode it happened in
My favorite is when they went to mexico to find a serial killer targeting older women. Well, the older women in the village found him and took care of it. The police chief didnt break charges. They were defending their home.
The reason that I started Criminal Minds was due to the season finale of season 3 that appeared at my grandmothers TV. They didn't put the next one and I didn't know which episode it was, so I ended up watching the whole series because I got hooked up after the second season.
Season 5, Episode 23 of Criminal Minds will stay with you for a very long time. It's called "Our Darkest Hour". Tim Curry stars as Billy Flynn. (The Unsub) He is sooooo super creepy in this episode. Imagine Pennywise as a real life person (but, not as a clown) creepy.
Daaaamn, your sister is cruel. That episode is really... something lol Also, tv shows like Criminal Minds (CM especially) we never talk enough about extras and all, but they're always doing such an amazing job portraying such complex emotions in such complex circumstances, adding reality to said shows.
As it came to the end and you were talking about how you were getting creep vibes from him "but maybe it's just because its a crime show" everyone who had seen the episode was going NOPE. NOPE JUST WAIT 😂
It's a coping mechanism to joke about it .Law and order ,healthcare professionals any of those paramedics ,medical examiners ect. It's a common thing to joke at this time.
They kind of deal with that work sometimes with humour. It’s not like they don’t care or are laughing at the victims, it’s just a way to stay focused and kind of sane.🤔
I love Criminal Minds ❤ you should definitely watch more. My all times favorite episodes are Season 5 Ep 16 Mosley Lane ( on of the best eps of the show) Season 5 Ep 9 "100" Season 2 Ep 11 Sex, Birth, Death Season 3 Ep 9 "Penelope" (part 2 of the episode you watch) Season 2 Ep 15 Revelations Season 11 Ep 11 Entropy Season 6 Ep 5 Safe haven
Could you do an episode of Warehouse 13, it’s such a fun show but so few people react to it. Oh that or Psych. Both shows you can probably watch without a ton of previous lore. Psych is a comedy, and Warehouse 13 is an urban fantasy
It’s funny because this probably isn’t the first episode I’d pick to show someone, I always forget how classic/iconic this episode and that line is. But it still gives me chills every time
Oh this reminds me how I accidentally watched a random episode of 24 (an episode somewhere in season 4) and I got so hooked I couldn't stop watching. Then I knew I needed to see the whole series.
The criminality comes in sourcing the meat for it. You're not going to get human meat legally much, so sure, you can EAT the meat, but good fucking luck finding LEGAL sources of it. I think it's legal in case of extreme situations like being lost in the wilds and having to eat a dead body to survive. It'd be a bit of a bitch to survive that kind of situation only to be thrown in jail for cannibalism afterwards.
@@victoriaharris3113 I figure it's legal in the extreme case of starvation in a wilderness situation. Sure, murder is wrong, but if a plane crashes in the middle of the mountains and there's a bunch of dead bodies, trying to survive until being found would be hard enough without having to worry that if you do get found, you might get thrown in jail for eating your dead fellow passengers. Basically, exceptions for extreme situations, I guess.
You know what's actually crazy though? You're frustrated with the cops not stopping the guy with the girl in the trunk? In actual real life, the police let Dahmer go when he was pulled over when he literally had a body in his car.
you should totally watch the next episode. But if you want another random episode, I personally like season 5 episode 12, The Uncanny Valley. But episode 16 (also season 5) Mosley Lane is also a really good episode
@@RLKmedic0315 lol i watched it when i was maybe around 10 (i really shouldn't have been but oh well) and it really stuck with me, along with the episode in this video, so maybe that's why i like it so much
People talk about 'fight or flight' when it comes to danger, but there's a third option: freeze. Some people run, some fight...but some poor souls just freeze up, becoming the most vulnerable.
man you seriously deserve more subs! your views-to-subscribers ratio is an injustice, good commentary, enjoyable reactions, well paced video, etc. Kudos to you, I wish you lots of future success 💗
i’m new to the show as well and i started with season 15. it was made after the show was cancelled but then got picked up again after a few years. and timeline wise happens post-pandemic. i really enjoyed it and am slowly working my way through the other seasons.
This is one of those shows where you can watch a random episode, and while you might not know the over arching story of the agents, you'll still enjoy the episode.
the contemplaition over watching the next episode, these episodes that go oveer muliple episodes with certian storylines are really good at drawing you in
1:58 I just realized which one this is, your sister is very interesting to choose this one first. 2:52 Nope and I feel horrible for Garcia and Morgan. She didn't listen to Morgan and Morgan thinks it's his fault.
Your sister picking this episode breaks my heart. See Garcia shot Broke my heart. She’s my favorite character I cried for hours. Started with one of my favorite episodes. I feel you should react to a lot more!!
You should give Grimm a look, it is similar to Supernatural but half as long. Some episodes I'd recommend are; Season 1 ep 9 Of Mouse and Man Season 2 ep 3 Bad Moon Rising-Lucifer from Supernatural plays a character in this episode Season 2 ep 19 Endangered-good if you like UFOs Season 3 ep 8 Twelve Days of Krampus-christmas episode Season 3 ep 14-might have a bit of plot but was the scariest episode in my opinion If you are interested in animated shows Archer is a good choice, imagine if James Bond was an office comedy :)
Lucky is a great epsiode but it ties into the next one and it helps to know the relationships a bit .Some that are solid but don't have a lot aside from the case would be Seven Seconds,Minimal Loss,Gabby ,The Caller,Conflicted,Public Enemy.
If you’re not going to watch the whole show, and it’s got a lot of episodes so I understand if you don’t have the time to do that, you should watch Lucky strikes. It is in season 13. I forgot the number of the episode.
