This was so fun to watch. I still haven't seen Mars Attacks! I'll have to remember to watch that one soon. Sounds fun! Yay, you watched No One Will Save You! I love that movie. Significant Other too. My jaw dropped! I totally agree that going in blind is the best 👌. Great video Lauren!

Fun video, Lauren! 🤩 I love Alien! Such a great movie. I think I’d enjoy the documentary. The Thing is amazing! 🙌🏻 I think the isolation in both Alien and The Thing is unnerving. I’m glad you tried out The X-Files. It is one of my favorite tv shows. 👽

You would absolutely enjoy the documentary! It went into so many great things that even I as a semi-Alien fan found super fascinating! You’re so right - the aspect of isolation is so unsettling. Knowing that you have nowhere to go and no one but yourself to save you! 😬😬😬

SAME! The reality is that I only really got to some new releases and some classics in this video, and I barely scratch the surface of the alien genre 😂 besides the movies Signs and Independence Day, I have very few alien movies under my belt 👽

70s filmmaking is a different vibe haha, I like that style much more that most modern pacing, but it can be weird to go back to it. Alien for me is probably my favourite movie of all time. The Thing is another all timer! I think the 2013 is okay and has some elements that make it at least an interesting comparison point. No one should hate you for not seeing something! I love the X-Files but I've only seen the first 5 seasons because THERE ARE SO MANY DAMN EPISODES lololol and I cannot marathon Television for that long hahaha. Great video!!

I was so surprised by how much I loved The Thing!! Thank you for informing me that there’s somewhat of a connection to the 1950s movie of a similar name. And there are SO MANY episodes of the X-files 😂. It’s honestly so overwhelming and a huge deterrent to me ever believing I could finish the series! 😅

The ending of No One Will Save You! 😅 And it's crazy that in that whole movie, maybe one or two lines are ever spoken aloud. Amazing. I recently watched Alien for the first time, too, and yeah, definitely not the best movie ever made, but it's easy to see why it quickly became so iconic! I really need to watch The Thing!

I literally had NO CLUE what that movie was going to be about except a possible UFO abduction and then there’s no dialogue 😂 it worked for me but what a bold choice! PLEASE watch the thing. I am obsessed!!

I love Alien and The Thing so much!! I showed my friends The Thing for the first time last year for friendsgiving and they were traumatized 😂 Jenna Ortega's favorite Tim Burton movie is Mars Attacks 😂 so another random Scream connection 😅 I recommend Communion with Christopher Walken and Life Force! 👽👽👽

BUT THEN I was like OKAY I GET IT once everything started going down Hold up ✋ I did not know that The Thing was an alien movie! IDK what I thought it was about but not aliens 🤣. I need to watch Significant Other and No One Will Save You have been added to my list!! . OMG The X Files was one of the shows that had me hooked from the first episode!!! ugh so good. Are you going planning on continuing the series? The X Files is my favorite show of all time (tied with Once Upon A Time) 12:28 When you said this I screamed "PERIOD" at my laptop The Truth is Out There! 👽🛸🕵‍♂🕵‍♀ You always have so many great recommendations!!

Brooklin, Ms. Happy Haunts has assigned you homework and that is to watch THE THING ASAP!!! If you liked the action scenes in Alien, The Thing jumps right in and focuses less on cinematography/art direction and more on the group dynamics and animatronics. It’s a fun ride!!

That's so interesting that you say No One Will Save You isn't ambiguous!! I definitely am only like 90% sure what the ending meant and I find myself wondering what the motives were for the aliens. Oh my gosh YOU NEED TO WATCH THE THING!!!!!! 👽🛸🤘🏽👻 I couldn’t support that more if I tried. It’s so much fun but also so revealing of the era. And now that I think about the end of No One Will Save You, you’re right. It’s not super clear but my first instinct was to think she was spared. And then I read a spoiler-y interview with the author and that confirmed a few of my theories. @happyhauntslibrary (POTENTIAL SPOILER FOR MOVIE) omg thats so funny because I thought she for sure wasn't and was just under "nice delusions" (for lack of a better term) either as a trauma response or from the aliens. I will for sure read the article as soon as I can though. I'm super interested in other theories

Fun selection of movies. Honeymoon (2014) would be a great double-feature with Significant Other. And the most 80s of alien movies is the cult favorite Earth Girls Are Easy (1988) with Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, and Damon Wayans as furry invaders.

Although I only watched about 10 episodes from the first season, “Ice” what is such a stand out episode! I feel like in most of the episodes, there’s never this full sense of danger for Mulder and Scully but for this one, I really felt that they were at risk! And that they were not off-limits to the episodes creature. I think that also added to my enjoyment of it, as well as the frightening nature of the parasite 😮 and thank you so much for watching!! 👽

So great!! I want to believe too. 👽 Alien and The Thing are big faves of mine. Ellen Ripley is one of my all-time fave movie characters. Have you seen Signs or District 9?
@happyhauntslibrary

I loved Ripley’s character. She really kept the movie grounded and without her, I wouldn’t have been able to really connect with any of the characters. And I love Signs! I feel like I have seen that one so much as a kid/teen that I’m trying to give it some distance 🤣 but is District 9 the found footage horror movie starring Lizzy Caplin where NYC is taken over my aliens? If so, I have seen that one!

Yessss the X-Files! Fallen Angel is another great early episode, with a sequel two-parter in season 4. If you keep going, i’d be so interested in knowing your thoughts on the mytharc episodes. There was so much…luxury in being able to criticize the government during the Clinton years, though these days Mulder’s left-leaning mutterings actually sound a lot like the insanity happening in the far reaches of the other direction. I’m definitely going to try some of these movies! Great video!! 💜👻👻👻👻👻

You gotta watch Invaders From Mars (1986) it's a remake of a 50's horror movie but so effectively creepy, there's also an alien that has a striking resemblance to a Teenage Mutant Ninja character that if you've seen it you'll know what I mean.

omg Mars Attacks is such an unheralded gem! Such a glorious sendup of American politics and now you have me wanting to do a rewatch it this weekend! 👽The only episode of the X-Files I've ever seen is "Home" and I think that was probably an outlier since it doesn't involve aliens. Super, super disturbing though. Haven't seen Memory or Significant Other yet to def adding those to my TBW. And I feel like you might really appreciate The Faculty...😁

Mars Attacks was so wild 😂 but I thought it would be a great addition to the more serious alien movies that I saw this past month. I did see the critiques of the US gov as a blubbering mess/war machine but now I’m realizing after your comment that it was actually pretty scathing toward the government. 😅 And I added Faculty to my list!!
