It's not a bad movie, per se, but there are some things they changed about their past & 1 about Mary's lip droop being on the wrong side. Billy, "I Put A Spell On You" is not an original song by Disney. Screamin' Jay Hawkins sang it in 1956, then Creedance Clearwater Revival did a cover in 1968. Ever since the beginning, the Sanderson sisters have only sang covers.

I like that they stuck with the sibling love is important theme. It was one of my favorite parts of the first movie, and while the sanderson sisters are antagonist, loyalty was important. They died togather in both lives, they stayed togather through life and death

I liked it. I do wish they had more backstory because it seemed like they would but then it's like they forgot. I couldn't care for the new protagonists BUT I loved the 3 girls who played the young Sanderson sisters. I hope they do a prequel with those three.

Actually the product placement for more adult stuff like the vacuums is fitting. A good chunk of the viewers are going to be the ones that were children during the first movie. They're adults now so product placing things for them is smart. And there were covers and remixes to songs in the first movie too.

I watched the first movie as a little children, then introduced my own kids to it 20 years later. My daughters and I sat down to watch this one together, and it was just as magical. My 19 year old and I both bawled our eyes out when Winnie learned the consequences of the Maxima spell, and when they were reunited once more. I have such a soft spot for those three sisters.

@@celianunn2070 yeah but even in universe the lore is a little vague, for example they say a witch gets her powers on her 16 birthday. Yet after they got book in the second movie, the Sanderson sisters all were witches even though Winnie was the only one who was 16 at the time. You could say that power is meant to be shared, but also Winnie is not one to share anything especially power.

For magicae maxima, WInnie was doing it to make her and her sisters all powerful so they wouldnt need the candle to survive anymore, most likely breaking the curse and staying alive forever, but they would later make another potion and steal the lives of every children from salem to be young and "beautiful" forever, she choose this because it was the easiest way to achieve her goals, yet she didnt expect that her sisters would be the price, she tought that all 3 of them would get powerful from magicae maxima but instead it was only winifred since she's the only "true" witch with actual powers between the 3.

The point of using the mop and broom I believe is in reference to the first movie. If you remember, Winnie had a broom, Sarah had a mop and Mary had a vacuum. So they got the same stuff just updated😁

This movie went from a family horror movie to feminist empowerment movie. The first movie is about the witches making potions for kids, so they can than "eat" them to stay younger. The new one is about getting revenge on the mayor and the good witch "fighting" her to convince her how to not be an extremist and the bad witch passes the "torch" her spell book to the good witch. It became a hero movie. Also, in every scene with a male character they were portrayed as fools.

I liked this movie and was kinda surprised by that I always thought the first one was pretty cheesy but fun don't really care for the new kids but did love the little Sanderson sisters would totally watch a full movie about them, it's been so long and Bette, Sarah and Kathy just got right back into character so cool, I always rooted for them in both movies now.

Lol the first film had only two songs as well. “I Put A Spell On You” was a cover and they wrote SOME lyrics to fit into the witchy vibe. The only original song was “Come Little Children”. This film’s “One Way Or Another” is a cover but the lyrics are changed to fit the witchy theme (in the soundtrack version though). Then “The Witches Are Back” is a cover of “The B*tch is Back” from Elton John. But it was written again to go with the witch theme.

😂 Billy, they were always singing covers, just changed some of the lyrics to give them a witchy vibe. “I Put a Spell On You” in the first movie, was originally by Screamin Jay Hawkins. “The Witch Is Back” is “The Bitch is Back” by Elton John. I think they tried to do something more here because in the original movie, Bette Midler didn’t like it cause she wasn’t prepared for it and she kinda sang off-key. She hated it so much she pulled it from the soundtrack, so the only version of Bette Midler singing the song is in Hocus Pocus.

Okay first of all, I love the shirt. Second, I tried to manage my expectations with this movie and was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. Totally agree about the songs. You have Bette Midler as your main witch for goodness' sake. Give her a damn song to belt!! I love One Way or Another, don't get me wrong...but still. Those girls in the beginning playing the young version of the Sanderson sisters were perfectly cast! Enjoyed this reaction :)

I heard that the director was hesitant to even put music in the first movie because he felt it wouldn't fit but after he did he was pleasantly surprised with how many people liked it. So maybe the same thing with happened with the second movie and they didn't want to distract from the story by having too many musical numbers but Idk I'm no director.

1:01 both the 1st and 2nd movie Apparently touch a bit on the sisters origins and backstory I think Hocus Pocus 1 takes place in like the late 90s early 2000s for the “Modern day” part of the movie while the sequel is meant to take place somewhere between like 2017 and 2021 I believe

In the first movie their home was already a tourist attraction, they were sucking the souls from children to stay looking young, and “I Put A Spell On You” wasn’t a Hocus Pocus original 😂 😂.. oh and it was based in the early/mid nineties 😃

The shapeshifting witch is still there. For Hocus Pocus 3 could be about be about possessions of the 3 new girls by the spirits of the original sisters. Could be someone stealing the book&using the girls as a sacrifice to gain more powers.

the opening of th O.G. hocus pocus one was set in 1693 300 hundread years later 1993. so in the second one where the story set from 1653-2022 is 396 years. 1693-2022 is 329 years. 1993-2022 is 29 years.

14:41 Walgreens and CVS certainly cover the same market (mini department store half-focused on first aid supplies with a pharmacy in the back) but they are owned by different people. Although Walgreens is always just its own separate store while CVS runs a few of their own stores and also partners with Target so that the pharmacy in the back of every Target is run by CVS. Anyway, both of them are everywhere where I live and not showing any signs of being at risk of going out of business. Each is almost as common as McDonalds or Starbucks here.

i liked it too, i go into it with open mind knowing it will be more in this time. some people didn't like the reboot of charmed, but i enjoyed that as well. (which this movie gave me charmed vibes, with the 3 girls increasing the power, i was waiting for a "the power of 3 will set you free" line lol)

Billy we didn't need filters in the olden days, the photos from those old camera phones had like 6 pixels in em- you're lucky to identify who was in the photo let alone spot a wrinkle!
