1:01 I believe that's one of the Three Views of Japan. Edit: One spot in Kyoto that I loved, but didn't see a single other tourist was Honnō-ji Temple. It's a recreation of course since the original burned down but if you've ever heard of the famous daimyō Oda Nobunaga it's definitely worth visiting (bonus points it's in a good location, right near the station.) Don't forget to visit the little museum and even if you don't speak Japanese they have digital translation guides giving you enormous amounts of information about every relic.

The view over Amanohashidate is spectacular and it's a fantastic bike hire ride across the peninsula between the 2 ropeways on either side. Back during our 2017 visit complementary tourist bicycles were available at the arrival bus stop in Ine Bay village. Only wish we had noticed them before walking the entire village 😏 keep them in mind 🚲. We tried to organise a stay in one of the Funaya but found it quite difficult to be accommodated being that we didn't speak Japanese. Many of the Funaya owners are traditional folk unsure they can give the best of service to international visitors who don't speak Japanese. Perhaps there's more confident hosts these days, we would love to go back and stay, it's a unique and picturesque Bay. Heading back to Tokyo in March 2024 staying this time in Sugamo/Otsuka - 9th trip to japan ! Another great video Nathan 👏

There's so many historic things to see in Kyoto, I think there's lots of things tourists never would never think to visit. My first trip to Kyoto, I noticed on the map there was street named "Bojo Dori", so I went to visit, mostly to get a photo of a street sign with my screen name on it. Even though it was mostly residential, there were some points of interest. Entered through the historic Shimabara gate, then visited the historic Sumiya Cultural Art Museum, which was very cool. Then passed by Wachigaiya, an old building from the entertainment district, which wasn't open to the public at the time. Further along was Mibu-dera Buddhist temple, a very cool place, with a tower with rings of more than 1000 Jizo and other statues. Further down was Motogion Nagi Jinja, a modest sized Shinto Shrine. Then we walked to the street car station and rode the street car. Didn't run into many people along the way since it's not really a tourist route. But this is just an example of how you can make your own tour in Kyoto.

Well, I'd heard of these places from other member of this channel doing some vlogs from these locations. I will say that this video gave me a different perspective on what to do and how it could be done. I like being in the country and taking my time in smaller locations especially if they are picturesque and scenic, which this area definitely is. So, as you continually do another couple of locations to add to my list of places I've got to see and experience in person. 🌊You keep making me search for emojis, but at least now I'm finding some.

I got the okay from my pet sitter to go back during the Sakura season and plan to explore more smaller towns than the bigger cities as I feel like I did enough Osaka, wouldn't mind visiting Kyoto again to do something I missed out on last go but probably won't stay in Tokyo again but would go just to say hello to Hachi again then be on my way. Odate however I would love to always visit each trip. I can't explain it but I fell in love in there as I've mentioned before if I moved to Japan I'd very much try to make sure I lived there or close by.

hmmm,... I think quite a few people in Kyoto will consider Ine backward and uncultured. Then again, even within Kyoto, there is a distinction between people who grew up within the ancient town boundaries and the ones in the newer districts. Anyway, both types of people look down on the rest of Japan ...

🌊 Which month did you visit these areas? Obviously warmer time of year based on your clothes - and sweat on your face! lol I am thinking about an August visit as you told me there are more outside activities going on. Plus, from what I have researched, you can't climb Mt. Fuji in May. I live in south Florida so I am used to hot weather and am very active outdoors!

Hey! It was end of july! It’s hot and very humid so outdoor activities can be dangerous lol .. by outside activities I mean festivals it’s pretty nice but you do need to research them .. north Japan is amazing for summer festivals (video on that soon!)

Totally disagree that these are hidden with Ine currently struggling with over tourism Not sure why you have to go down to the gutter with click bait titles Please get this channel back to providing true and accurate information
@NinjaMonkeyguy
@NinjaMonkeyguy 5 месяцев назад
Have you visited? Over tourism? .. Ine? Maybe soon.. The streets were pretty empty from my experience.. the majority of people were visiting in quick bus tours that would take them to the boat tour or centre and then zip them away to amanohashidate or elsewhere, a lot of regular tourists don’t even know where these places are unless you are a very specific traveller or if you are a return traveller. I must admit that Ine is an instagram hotspot , but that doesn’t mean it’s crowded (yet).. and the place would get crowded with a tour for 15 minutes and then they would be zipped away .. and I stayed there for two days, I’ve travelled Japan extensively and in comparison to other locations this locations was quiet! Btw if I put “I went to Ine” very few people would click as they don’t know what I’m talking about.. I’m apologise if this title was not accurate for you, but for 90%! Of people it prob will be.. I’m trying to show other locations and share other places in Japan people tend to not go to because they stick to the golden route.

@@NinjaMonkeyguy better get up to speed dude Kyoto, one of Japan’s most popular tourist spots due to its rich history, is also struggling. Residents say they often can’t ride the bus because it’s packed with visitors. And even when they can get on, there are no seats because tourists are taking them up with their suitcases. The problem isn’t isolated to large cities, either. Ine, some 130 kilometers from the city of Kyoto, has become a popular tourist destination due to its rustic funaya (舟屋), or boat houses. The town of 2,000 people is struggling to handle the estimated 400,000 tourists it’ll see this year.
@NinjaMonkeyguy
@NinjaMonkeyguy 5 месяцев назад
@@kingkasuma6137 have you visited? I’m highlighting this place out of my personal experience and the fact that multiple guides consider this area “off the beaten path”.. 400,000 tourists of this is the case equals just over 1000 daily which when spread out isn’t that bad and as I mentioned from my experience visiting they come and go in 15 minutes leaving the place rather empty .. anyway not to argue, I’m just going from what I saw. I still stand with the fact that a lot of people might have seen pictures but don’t know how to get there .. i appreciate your information
