good, old shop just sucks and its from previous century, imagine minimizing a game to be redirected into store where u have wack video and few photos, when in any modern game you can preview what are you buying in a game. It’s really tacky. Just shows what a game studio’s main priority is above all else: profits, and the game itself might come second. There’s a reason the Elden Ring Ubisoft memes went as viral as it did. Players are so sick of it and want to go back to minimal UIs and menus that only show the important bits that relate to the gameplay. If there _must_ be a shop somewhere, then keep it at the main menu screen at the start of the game, not within the game itself … but of of course, that can’t happen. How else will they target those that play co-op/online and see other players sporting certain cosmetics that they don’t have? They need to be able to grip them then and there to buy it on the spot with ease in to the shop so they don’t have FOMO. They don’t want players to back out to the main screen and then have a moment of clarity to ask themselves “wait, I don’t really need this, do I? I backed out of the game for this, to almost buy a cosmetic item… sheesh…” They do studies on this stuff and how gaming companies purposely implement things to hook players in to spending their money on cosmetic items. The sad thing is, the studies are available for all to see. Companies have even admitted to pulling these tactics to rake in more profit … and people still fall for it hook, line, and sinker … then complain that it continues to happen.

And what is funny, the only game with microtransactions I've played lately got rid of in-game purchases (I'm talking about Marvel's Avengers which is to be discountinued this September, and it already made all the outfits that previously were behind the paywall free this spring). But I already bought some MCU outfits in there a couple years ago though. Ye, I'm taking that L. The next MTX-fueled game I would like to play is Titanfall 2 (heard it has some good story), dunno how I'm going to feel about this paid shi all around me. But I don't get why peeps are overreacting on this news. In 2021, Dying Light 2 received ESRB's M rating, and it was known that the game will feature in-game store. I was thinking it will feature bundles, but then I saw that the Ultimate Edition has 2H XP boosters. I didn't like it but was too excited about E3 gameplay. Time passed, there were rumours about development hell after firing of Chris Avellone, and such stuff. I lowered my expectations, pre-purchased the game, then lowered my expectations again. When the game finally arrived, I was surprised that there is no in-game store, and I can play it like a normal game. I thought the game is good, though I wasn't happy with a story and missing Elyseum, and the final mission taken from E3 gameplay was super letdown. The other thing I wasn't happy is a fact that Techland split Ronin Pack and Peacekeeper Pack in three parts each and pull it like this onto the storefronts. That's the reason I was okay with a 2021 news that Dying Light 2 to feature in-game store. Cause I don't like when some little stuff like skin bundles littering the DLC section of the game page. I was thinking the in-game store will include all the upcoming Dying Light 2 bundles. And then boom: Authority Pack-Part 1/3, Authority Pack-Part 2/3, Authority Pack-Part 3/3, Ronin Pack-Part 1/3, Ronin Pack-Part 2/3, invasion, Ronin Pack-Part 3/3 all of a sudden! Then boom: Deluxe Upgrade which is duplicate of Deluxe Pack, and Ultimate Upgrade which is a duplicate of Ultimate Pack. Tuff time. But they finally cooked the store that was confirmed back in 2021. It's just timing all out of place!! Hopefully they won't ruin their game with some time-limited stuff powered by Tencent!!!

TLDR. Yeah, I don't like the expensive items in the in-game stores too! Had an issue with Marvel's Avengers: I made one (one!) in-game purchase in there to get some MCU suits, and like two years later the game was set to be shut down, and all of the in-game store items there are free now. What about Dying Light 2, the in-game purchases in this game were confirmed in 2021 when the game received the M rating by ESRB. I was thinking it would be nice to get rid of all the skin bundles on storefronts, but Techland sadly didn't manage to complete neither the game nor in-game store. They finally cooked, but the timing is awful, for real. Hopefully they won't ruin their game with some time-limited stuff powered by Tencent!!!

Have to agree, i loked dl1 but i dont like 2, it just doesnt feel the same, the story is meh, the city isnt interesting, the combat feels clunky like some indie game, dl1 combat was smoother and better, and even the graphics arent that good, dl1 has really good graphics even today and in maximum settings I would get around 140-160fps with a 3070, dl2 barely looks better and maybe worse in some aspects but gets only half the framerate of the original, absolute joke, along with forced taa which i hate

Learned that hat the team making DL2 is not the same team that made DL. Hence the lack of motivation and inspiration and heart. Sad thing is they have to make it more like Dying Light to make it better.

No the problem with DL2 is that they fired Chris Avellone and scrapped most of his work thats why the game is a big MESS. I have no doubt DL2 would contend for the game of the year if they didnt do it.

But glad they didn't especially the free dlc game mechanics if you didn't want to buy the dlc yet. But time will tell for the sequel for the game.

People play singleplayer games for the gameplay and story...not some random shit in the shop or some stupid grinding for cosmetics nobody cares about...The game is great in all the aspects it needs to be as a singleplayer openworld game. These bundles are nothing else than an attempt to satisfy their investor but people are so spoiled they feel entitled to having community updates every week. And to top it of people are lazy to even mod the game so they can have all the bundles for free and now are even able to play modded game with legend levels but no, you always want more!

@@CursedImagesEveryday Well first of all, by "predatory" I've meant manipulative - as it is mentioned in the video where Oni explains the problem of excess in-game currency after buying stuff; that excess currency is insuficient for buying another item thus making you spend more money. Now don't get me wrong, I think making Bundles as they did for entirety of DL1 and continued with DL2 is a great way to make money to sustain the years of continued support for the product and keep the game fresh but as you said the game has all the aspects needed to be a complete singleplayer openworld game, so what is the point of introducing some in-game currency that nobody asked for? It really feels unnecessary for a singleplayer game, especially as it may launch as or become "predatory" like with the examples given in the video - we don't need it everywhere! As for modding the game in order to obtain bundles for free - it sounds like piracy to be honest. Even if it isn't from legal point of view, it is at least disrespectful towards the developer. Regarding the community updates, I myself am fed up with all this people that say "this should've been in the game day 1" stuff but seeing how much these updates alter the game and make it better, along with bugfixes they provide I can see their point. Lastly, some people actually care about cosmetics you have to grind for, 'cause it let's you feel a sense of accomplishment, something a player can be proud of, it is a sign of dedication for the game that you can actually show off (in coop session for instance) and use. Letting players to simply buy their way up to the level of those who spent hours to get there just feels like cheating as much as modding the game to reach those goals.

As for the Techland not paying attention to problems this game has and instead trying to satisfy Tencent's requirements is frustrating but again it's not that bad because they proved before they have people that trully care about the game and can deliver on their promises.

I have no issues with using whatever community made and posted for free and modding it into the game to make it more enjoyable though; you 100% have a right to play the game the way you want. Regarding in-game currency I'm not really buying that stuff; just because "everyone does it" and "it's well established model" is no excuse to put it into your game. I can't blame Techland for wanting to make profit from their game but I can blame them for how they are going to do it. I'm not writing this because I fear that the game is gonna get P2W (if that can even be the case with PvE game), I'm more concerned about that predatory model that is meant to trick you into spending more money. Because many people will throw more money than they were originally willing to pay, it's just how it works. To be honest I am just fed up with developers trying to milk as much money as it is possible whatever means necessary nowadays; all these currencies and in-game purchases is not what I want gaming to be and this is why I can't agree with putting it everywhere. Techland states in their FAQ that they are introducing DL Points so they can offer us better deals but they like no other know that even with good intentions you can make bad decisions. Despite all I've said - since DL Points will launch anyways I'd like to be proven wrong; I just hope Techland will find a way to make this system add to the game and make it better whilst being player-friendly.

I also feel that the events we get will also get affected so don’t expect cool items or stuff we got before all of this happened.

Just mod every item and outfit into the game as a collectible blueprint and there you go. You can also mod weapons like Thor hammer into the game too just so you know 😅

Check The Crew which has 1900 square miles or The Fuel with 5560 square miles. I don't even wanna mention No Man's Sky, Microsoft Flight Simulator or...or...or.
