His house is on loan from the bank. His daughters commute to work. Find out why the world's poorest monarch refuses to give up Sabah. (Aired March 4, 2013)
Sabah will like any other town in Mindanao if not for Malaysia. Mindanao is poor because Manila ignores them. Without Malaysia, Sabah will be ignores too and nobody want to come Sabah as it is now. IF KIRAM is the Sultan of Sulu, where is hid throne in Tawi2. He should rule the island already...why bother Sabah .. why is he not the ruler of Tawi2 ...part of the Sultanate ....be the ruler there first!
I am so honored to meet you our Sultan of Sulu......all these years I never knew that you exist. I even cried watching these old video of yours. It's shame being a Filipino not knowing our own History of yours. Last 2 days ago your name has just came out that you are the rightful heir of Sulu. I am so proud to know that We Filipino has a Sultan that even risk his own life to fight for his homeland 2013! Again I apologize for not knowing you in my younger days Our Sultan of Sulu. 😊
Pengaruh penjajah spanyol terlalu kuat..seolah ingin menutup sejarah dari mana kalian berasal.. Mereka ada lah akar sejarah filipina. Kalian dahulu negara muslim di bawah kerajaan kesultanan.. Datang lah penjajah memecah keyakinan kalian katolik dan islam.. Maaf jika saya berkomentar. Karna saya. Muslim indonesia kami sangat perduli dengan saudara muslim kami di filipina..
He’s not the rightful heir. The last Sultan of Sulu died in 1936, since then there are many pretenders who claims themselves as the legitimate heir to the Sulu throne.
Hope Sabah didn't fall to these so called Sultan, don't want to see the Buddhist and Christian people living here in Sabah get oppressed by these people. The amount of people living in slums there and eating papag , couldn't imagine if they managed to take Sabah, economy here gonna get worse than before.
KIiram was very humble.I admired him so much.We didnt heard any negative issues about kiram before the claim of sabah. He dont even have any cases against him It just simply means that he was a true man.And now though he was too old and poor, he showed the world that there was a filipino who was willing to die for the honor of his country. But some says he was a trouble maker, but i dont belive so. philippines governmet ignored his people suffering and dying at sabah but they keep on fightings.
The Sultan have already given Sabah to the British a long time ago. He should have went back to Sabah to claim Sabah before Malaysia gain independence and federation was formed.
That's not true. Why would a Sultan give part of his territory when in fact Sabah was a gift to the Sultan of Sulu from the Sultan of Brunei from helping him win Brunei's war. Sabah was just leased to the British North Borneo Company. Hence the annual payment to the heirs of the Sulu sultan.
Why should Malaysia pay , Its British Company should pay..The Pajak or Deed in 1878 was a one-sided agreement why not Sultan of North left behind the owner or Land Lord ..??

Sulu people from both Malaysia and Philippines share the same thought that Jamalul Kiram III and his family should not inherit the Sultanate of Sulu. Sulu people will never forget their dark history when their ancestors were massacred by American army in the 1900s after getting blessings from Sultan Kiram II (1884-1936). The tragedy happened in Bud Dahu in March 1906, followed by another massacre in December 1911 and the battle in Bud Bagsak in June 1913. In all, Sulu people lost 4,000 lives.
Don't blame the Sulu Sultanate they are just fighting their rights to the their own land. Blame the foreign colonizers who are thirst of wealth to other places.
@@gerlie_quider that's true . USA and Spain must be the first One to be blamed coz they conspired in dismantling the existing of Sultanate of Sulu. That is a false narrative created by the self-proclaimed Sulu heirs. North Borneo (Sabah) previously belonged to Brunei before they ceded the entire territory to the British under the 1877 agreement, in the agreement it clearly states that North Borneo will be ceded to the British North Borneo Company (BNBC). However the Sultan of Sulu came along and falsely claims that North Borneo belongs to them, and to avoid a possible war in the region the British enter the 1878 agreement with the Sulu Sultanate which states that Sulu will grant and cede North Borneo to the BNBC which was the original meaning of “pajak” and was agreed as such by both the British and the Sulu Sultan however the Sulu heirs of the now defunct Sulu Sultanate then twisted the original meaning and claims that the word pajak actually means “lease and rent”. The British then agreed to pay 5,000 Mexican gold coins annually to the Sultan of Sulu as cession money for North Borneo but the self-proclaimed Sulu heirs twisted the narrative yet again and claims that the payment is “rent money”.

50% of his royal armies died but the government of the philippines ignored them.Sultan kiram was became very emotional about this and even he was willing to send reinforcement for his armies but he cant. If you were referring to the Sulu claim case in Paris Court, and was awarded with US$14.92B compensation, they could only dream about it. Sulu finally lost in various courts of appeal and failed to get the US$14.92B compensation. Instead Sulu has to pay Malaysia €100,000 as legal cost imposed by Paris Court of Appeal.
