The BetaFPV Meteor65 is a ridiculously fast, powerful, and agile 1S quad. Honestly, I never thought a 1S quad could fly like this. It has power and speed more like a 2S whoop (Trashcan, TinyHawk-S), but with light weight and agility more like a 1S whoop. The result is a really, really fun to fly quad, as long as you have the space to fly and the skill to control it.
But let's not bury the lede.... what about the BT2.0 connector?

Gotta love the new BT 2.0 as is addresses the power sag issue we have endured forever with the PH1.25 to the PH 2.0. However, another key thing to this connector is the number of mating cycles that they are designed to operate. The PH 2.0 is only rated for some 25 cycles whereas the BT 2.0 should be in the hundreds before one would see any significant degradation. *Great video and congrats on the win!*

Dear DJI, please make a whoop sized all in one camera VTX using your digital HD FPV tech. It only needs to be 25mW although id not argue if a discreet hack unlocked a secret 400mW mode. Make it less than 5 grams including the dipole antenna and keep both sets of RX and TX pins for the FC link and controller. Thanks. 👍😁

Can confirm, that PCB on the motor is awesome. Been running a brushless whoop for a while, killed 4-5 motors and on every one it was the motor wire connection that failed and didn't leave enough wire left to solder. The wires never seem to be tied down to anything so they kinda just flop around and even if they don't catch on something they just break off eventually.

Hi Josh Great review of this little guy. I have a beta65s that I still fly daily, For a tiny whoop quad BETAFPV is a great place to start. I had a whoop that had 8mm instead of 6mm but those are brushed. But I would like to get one for a replacement for my 65s. Thanks again for the information and review.
@CharlyDuesentrieb
@CharlyDuesentrieb 4 года назад
Also to take into account when comparing connectors: all Chinese whoop manufacturors including BetaFpv are using PH2 scrap connectors with sheet-folded pins, because they can crimp these instead of soldering. These tend to oxidize quite quickly with lots of voltage drop. Compared to that, the original PH2 connectors are using solid pins which are much more robust. But in any case BT2.0 is a great progress for 1s whoops. If I would not have changed all connectors of my Beta 75 Pro and batteries to XT30 I would go to BT2.0 now.

Thanks Joshua your videos are always great! Two things I would say: 1) The PH2.0 is rated for 2A (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JST_connector) but it can obviously carry more, with loss. 2) High KV motors with bushings totally wear out. If you race a lot you will not really want to use the same motors for more than a few months. Not a big deal if you're serious about racing, but they do not last. It will be interesting to see if these hold up any longer with the bearings.

I should be getting some BT2.0 connectors today. Going to convert my 65s, 65x and my bee brain lite. Ph2.0 on all 3 whoops are warn out. I can fly for 1.5 mins then get low battery. I then unplug and plug back in and get another minute. Sometimes I get low bat when I first connect the battery. I unplug and plug back in and get a 3 min flight. I bent the pins and that helps for a while then it gets worse. Got high Hope's for the BT2.0!🤞

If the lens on the camera is flat then I also have the same one on a new beta65s lite. I have two of these. The first I got has a more traditional lens that tapers. The new one that is flat goes black and white only when there is too much light. When there is less light, it shows colors again. Really weird! But all in all the 65s lite is crazy fast for indoor flying!

Mobula7 issues were never really resolved, people still have issues with new Crazybee boards to this day... So I would be really cautious about preordering something with a new Crazybee board that has another component integrated (vtx). You can get the Meteor65 down to 21g or less quite easily by replacing the the heavy camera mount+canopy with one of the light weight 3d printed mounts and the vtx antenna with a simple monopole. I would definitely recommend 19500kv version (or even the one with 0603 motors) to most people though, these 22000kv are just insanely overpowered for general whooping. As for the connector, I put it on my Tinyhawk and replaced the connectors on some old 450mah batteries that I was just about ready to throw out and I am happy to report they're almost as good as new. Might be hard to tell with 300mah or less, but on 450+ it is definitely very noticeable! Overall out of these 3 (Meteor65, Mobula6 and NBD brushless) I'd recommend the Meteor65 as it's the only one that did something genuinely different from what we've had so far + I've had great experience with their products and when they did have that mishap with 85X they took action and changed the board design and sent people fixed replacements instead of sending back same crap that will break again like HappyModel does.

I want to be able to fly on 1Ssbut not sure if I want to be able to fly 2s as well. The BT2.0 connector looks like a better deal than the old PH2 connector but could it take the place of an XT30 for 2s batteries on whoop style drones? My biggest problem with the BT2.0 is that from my experience, BetaFPV batteries are among the worst I’ve ever had. Bought a pack of 8 of them with my Betafpv 65x 2s and they give less flight time at a rating of 300 mah than I get from TBS 240 mah packs. Maybe if they’ve sourced better cells for these BT ones. What I find works really well is replacing the connectors with 0.8mm gold bullet connectors, but that only works with packs that have wires of course.

The Mobula6 has its VTX integrated into the FC, so I feel like that might be a significant difference. Also, the Mobula6 is using a monopole antenna (just a bare piece of stiff copper) for the VTX antenna instead of a shielded, heat-shrinked dipole. All the reviews I've seen of the Mobula6, it has significant jello issues and black lines in the video feed. I'd take the Meteor and swap out the camera mount and canopy for NewBeeDrone's goober canopy, and switch out the props to NewBeeDrone Azi's. That'll drop a couple grams right there. If you're sadistic and want to direct solder the motors to the FC, there's another gram and probably some performance improvement. Also, NewBeeDrone's BeeBrain Brushless is 2S capable, whereas the Meteor and Mob6 are 1S only. NBD is releasing a 1S brushless under their Hummingbird product line and it'll be cheaper than the BeeBrain.

to the motors. i have both, 22kkv and 19,5kkv and i have to say they suck both pretty much alot of juice. friend of mine got the 22kkv with every trick in the book to around 2:40min flight time. the 19kkv will have 4 mins, but also with every trick in the book. so you have to resolder a better batterycable, 22 awg is not enough, 20awg will be good and you have to solder the motors directly to the board. then you will advance. but even then every solderjob has to be rocksolid to not waste efficiency on the long run (even when the betafpv one have real bearings instead of bushings, the magnets on those motors are way to crazy. like the 3BHobby 18kkv, they are hard on your battery. i get 2:30min with 260mah and 19,5kkv)

Hi Josh, can you tell me why my flight controller is only reading 2 volts when plugged into the computer and only goes up to 4 volts with an 11.1 volt battery plugged in. The ESC is reading 11.1 all around so I'm assuming something is wrong with the fc? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Check the voltage scale in Betaflight but if it's that far off it's probably damaged.

The 2s is too much juice for tight indoor coarses. Not sure if it has much to do with connectors or even the whoop, you're just a damn good pilot.

This is the second year we rent a big gym every week and race whoops and 2", alot of us are on xt30u because it's so much better than jst The BT2.0 looks good, but is worth its price? On the other hand, we got a wide range of lipos and the worst of all are betafpv ;)

Yamie ur not supposed to use the bt2 with anything other than 1s btw. And on a 1s whoop, xt30 is really heavy
@yamie8548
@yamie8548 4 года назад
@@aldenhauser9555 Yes you are right, and I would never consider XT30u on 65mm, BT2.0 might be an option there But then again on 75mm XT30U isn't this much Last winter I converted all my JST 1S to XT30U fpv-racing-forum.de/thread/9766-brushless-micro-1s-umbau-von-jst-ph2-0-auf-xt30u/ In short +2g, voltage increased by 0,4V under load and max amp from 8A to 10A Also my hover throttle changed from 68% down to 50% But the most important thing, I didn't have to change those JST every second week, because they were worn out BT2.0 f+m weight is 0,6g, while XT30U f+m is 1,7g, so it's 1g difference If BT2.0 perform as good as XT30U they are very good for 65mm but on 75mm? I usually use 550mAh 1S on 75mm, I also have some new 300mAh but I only get around 90s racing form them, and they lack a lot of power : (

Switched back to NBD brushed because it was faster than my brushless. But depends on the course as you pointed out at the start. That was a long fast course as opposed to tight technical.

Hey Joshua ! Which ESC /Motor protocol to select for the motor output for Betafpv Meteor 65 in Betaflight ?

Probably dshot300.

Are you sure that Motor Protocol is actually your problem? Do the motors spin using the sliders in the Motors tab? If so, then motor protocol is not the issue.
