I WON MY FIRST EVER RACE & SET A COURSE RECORD! Dymock 5 Mile Race 2024 - welcome back to another video and today I am sharing with you my dymock 5 mile race vlog, where I won my first ever race and set a course record! Despite it being a tough day out there, I was delighted to get my first ever win and also set a course record. Going to have to go back next year and see if I can get a quicker time!

You must run only the fastest races or everyone around you is bloody fast for this to be your first win 🏆 😂. Well done 👏🏻 Loved the running view with no music covering up your breathing, it’s good to hear you were working bloody hard for that. When it’s covered by music it just looks effortless and can demoralise some runners, if you get me. I’m finally running pain free and got another marathon booked for July to hopefully get my GFA for London next year. I was originally looking for 2:40 but I’ve not had the training for that sort of time, so sub 3hrs will do this time. I was only 1 min off when injured and under trained, so should manage that 🤞🏻 😂

Congrats Andy! Been a while since I've run a 5 mile race. I really like the distance -- not quite as tough as a 10K yet gives you more time to make some moves than a 5K. You got some great video too of the race course -- looked like a good one. Did you upgrade your camera? The video looked a lot better. I've been racing over 20 years and I've only won a race -- I think twice -- if memory serves. As always, love seeing your training / race recaps. Keep it up!

Well done Andy. TBH keeping running the way you have been this was always a likely result. 27:45 is the sort of time that will win many local races. I’m still really looking forwards to your 5km PB and cracking 33min 10km AND the specific sessions you’ve cooked up to improve your speed. Great momentum Andy! 👊🏻

Good race Andy..these are the reason that I couldn't care less about training..I do my mileage in zn2 and zn3 and then blast 5k and 10k on the weekends..when you are fit and your breathing is in rhythm you can feel like you can just run and run and run..that's why I run..if you can keep it under control and not push it too hard you can have good a kick..good race..congrats 😊

Thanks buddy! Yeah you could easily do some good zone 1/2/3 work midweek and race every weekend and get super fit! I know a few people who do that… probably the best and most fun way to do things!

Hi Andy firstly congratulations on the race. I'm interested to know if you have a longer threshold run in your 10K programme or do you prefer threshold intervals? Do you also recommend running threshold to heart rate as from memory you like to run to feel.cheers

I tried doing this by entering a local 5k when I knew most of the strong runners were doing the 10k. Finished second! To a bloody cyclist! Well done Andy, love it!

Congratulations Andy, great running! I can identify with how you felt on that last hill. I won a local x country once, it was about 10k and I hit the front after 3k, I ran the rest of the race being terrified that someone was going to pass me! 😂

Thanks! Going into my 10th year…. Honestly? Panic! I threw away a lead at the Severn bridge half 3 years ago at mile 10, so I didn’t want that to happen again!
