For those of you crying about the backround noise, you must live in a perfect world, work in a quiet environment etc. If you focus on the doctors you wont hear the backround noise.
The turmeric I take includes curcumin and black pepper. I have had amazing results. I am a long-time chronic pain patient and have been able to reduce my opioid consumption.
Thanks for talking about turmeric guys! The key according to Ayurveda is to use it with black pepper - the black pepper is said to activate the properties in turmeric which make it then an anti-inflammatory. That said my mum has been having it in capsule form for 6 months for osteoarthritis in her knees and it has really helped
I moved from ibuprofen to turmeric after watching this video. The results have been great. I recommend you move over to turmeric for joint pain. I also recommend going on a keto diet, or at the very least, keeping your carb count below 45g a day.
Thanks guys for pointing out that the natural remedy is safer and also highly effective for inflammation. A lot of times professionals in the medical field simply ‘go along’ with the status quo. Kudos to you two.💯
Turmeric can also cause stomach problems. I don't know if it is as bad as Ibuprofen or Aleve that way, but the stomach problems that antiinflammatories can cause are no joke. You can bleed. Badly. A friend of mine had a lot of blood loss (from daily Excedrin-aspirin in it) and that's dangerous. Just because something is natural does not mean it doesn't have risks. Natural things can also mix with medications just as dangerously as pharmaceuticals. I want very badly to find something for my long term increasingly severe back/sciatica pain. Ibuprofen is starting to damage my stomach lining. I leaped at the idea of Turmeric thinking that because it's natural I will be fine. But I found out it could hurt my stomach as well. If I hadn't looked it up and just followed the "it's natural so it's safe" advise I could have hurt myself.
hey bob & brad, i am a third year pharmacy student and just wanted to say i really appreciate this video! it displays the importance of interprofessional relationships among health care providers as well as wonderful information about commonly used OTC products. I appreciate the overview and counseling points provided by the pharmacist and how the questions that were prompted reflect many of the questions i see in the pharmacy. thank you for this!
Kristen Medlock It real life none of you are in charge. Physical therapy will be reporting to the nurse. Pharmacist will also be reporting to the nurse. Everyone reports to the nurse to that the doctor gets the entire picture of how the patient is doing from one person. When I say reporting I don’t mean like the nurse is their boss. I just mean the nurse is in charge of the patient so anything patient related goes through her. Outside of a hospital then the pharmacist deals directly with the patient and their doctor. Good luck on your studies. Pharmacist is a great job.
Turmeric has amazing anti-inflammatory properties and glad u brought it up. In India we have a tsp of turmeric ( also called haldi) with milk with sugar if required on a regular basis and it helps to heal internally :)
I just watched this video, very informative. As a nurse, I still have something to learn and be reminded of. The one inaccuracy was the pharmacist caution on Tylenol. It is harmful to the Liver, not the kidneys. It is the #1 cause of liver failure in adults in the US excluding liver disease, due to overuse. This is why doctors recommend alternating between NSAIDs and acetaminophen to avoid issues in long term treatment regimens.
Turmeric is the only one I would take out of all these. I have been using and enjoying Turmeric for some time now. The difference between the med's and this herb is that the med's actually encourage inflammation, damage organs and over all is very toxic to our system. I don't understand how you people don't know this already? Did you people know that arthritis is reversible? Yep, and no meds needed for that to happen. I still liked this, because you mentioned this amazing herb... Thank you for this!!
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and EVERY MD I had seen about joint pain told me to take 2 Naproxen and 4-6 Ibuprofen morning and night daily. I started having a burning feeling on my skin- sore to touch, and horrible nausea; which I never associated with a side effect from the meds. Needless to say, I have had surgery 2x on my neck, rotator cuff, ankle 3x and JUST had elbow surgery with denervation (cutting my nerves causing the chronic pain). I started seeing a chiropractor doc for thoracic adjustments along with getting acupuncture. Both Docs told me to start a turmeric with a blend of other herbs and 4-6 weeks later I noticed a HUGE portion of my pain has been reduced by 60-75%. I now do core strengthening (yoga) along with rowing to keep my shoulders strong which helps the neck pain and stress headaches. NSAI’s are not in my house any longer.
hi, I am an Indian. the turmeric you are talking here is the one of our daily cooking ingredient. its a got a great amount of medicinal properties. Add half tea spoon to hot cup of milk, pinch of pepper and little honey. you can drink this turmeric tea all you life without any side effects.
Be very cautious and aware to monitor for symptoms that 'nearly' all tumeric has significant amounts of lead contaminants. Primarily that grown in Asian regions, but even US grown. Be sure the supplements you buy have been tested thoroughly by third party labs.
my friend is Indian; we have talked about how healthy his Mother is and we both feel, things like turmeric in her daily diet is one reason. I am intrigued with your recipe for the turmeric, pepper and honey, in the milk. Also if you can consume local honey , it is beneficial for health, allergy protection, etc.
with ayurvedic "medicine"--maybe I should say herbal...there are hot and cool herbs/spices. ( I may not be explaining it perfectly, as I am not any kind of expert but read about it long time ago) the warm spices, like pepper , turmeric and ginger work in the body in different ways than cool ones.
Turmeric has helped my inflammation a lot. I heard a study somewhere on RU-vid that approximately 1 teaspoon per day is the ideal amount. More than that and it actually became LESS affective. I take it in a an evening hot Golden Milk recipe ( google that. ) The recipe also includes a dash of ground black pepper. The heat & pepper help the body absorb the turmeric much much better.
I’ve been taking two cups of golden milk per day, half teaspoon each cup. I have not used pepper yet, but it took away 90% of my arthritis pain. The heat is to cook the turmeric gently. Along with the fat from some kind of milk, or else a dab of coconut fat, it absorbs pretty well, even with no pepper. Maybe when people use uncooked turmeric in capsules, they need the pepper to absorb it. My digestion is also very regular since starting this six weeks ago. Thanks be to God. ( I hesitated to add the pepper cuz I have allergies and HAD I.b.s.... wondering if the golden milk got rid of the I.b.s. ). I have also been taking one teaspoon of moringa powder in a pot of tea, so it might be a combination effect...)
Stephanie hello. I have arthroses. The turmeric lowers inflammation and pain, but is also good for your digestive system and anti viral. The milk is to add fat so you can digest it better, you can mix it with coconut oil or other fats instead if you want. For the other kind of arthritis, I read that moringa leaf works better. You use the powder mixed in any liquid. It’s green and not bitter. Moringa leaf can be eaten as a food, as it is in hot countries. These are treatments, not cures. But they are both healthy, and easy to digest.
I have spinal stenosis and many bulging discs, fibromyalgia. Tumeric is amazing- I had to stop it for a procedure recently and found out how well it is really working!!! Felt so much better once it was restarted- almost immediately! Thanks for your great video's!!! Naproxyn (Aleve) made my B/P go up, so happy to find an alternative, especially because both parents died of a stroke......
I started turmeric after watching this video. I couldn’t believe the relief I got in my hands! After months on it I stopped for a week to see if it was coincidental. Nope! Pain was back in 2-3 days. Thank you!
As for fixing a broken heart....you can do that at the pharmacy with a box of Russell Stovers and a Halmark card. If that doesn't work go to the animal shelter and get a cat or maybe a dog.
Thank-you so much! My son is a physical therapist in Florida and he is on me about my weight, exercise and posture.. He is right and your exercises has helped me so much. I will definitely listen to him this time. Pain is a great awakening!
Thank you so much for even having a "natural" inflammation-fighter in the lineup!! The "alternative" community has been talking about this for quite some time, but I'm so happy to see the beneficial word being spread on more mainstream sources. Turmeric is awesome stuff!!!
It took me a while but I've finally managed to call 'alternative' natural medicine. The medicine we grew up with is called allopathic and it's really the alternative to natural.
Hello Bob and Brad! I just want to thank you for all of your wonderful videos. I'm suffering from a herniated disk and I stumbled across these videos. Life changing! thank you
I cant take prescription pain meds, so after surgery, I was given Tylenol. I took it round the clock for 3 days and developed Tylenol poisoning, diagnosed by the folks at the hospital. At the 3 day mark, I had a nonstop bad headache, and was told to stop taking it, and can now only take 1 tablet a week if I have pain. So, be careful taking it at all.
Chris is awesome you all are awesome thank you so much for taking care of us pre-elderly that still have to work! Whenever I’ve heard I turn to Chris and Mark and look up you RU-vid videos of the worlds famous physical therapist love you guys stay safe😷
I watched my son’s beautiful girlfriend die in the hospital from mixing alcohol and Tylenol. They had only been dating for 6 months or so. Like many young people they liked to party. Her stomach was uncomfortable after a night of drinking so she asked my son to go and get her Tylenol. Felt a bit better for an hour or so but pain came back . She doubled the dose and felt better. They shared a bottle of wine for dinner. Before bed she took another double dose. She got up in the night and collapsed. My son carried her to his truck and raced to the hospital. He called me in a panic from the hospital and said mom Melissa is dying. I raced to be with them. Her kidneys shut down and she went into organ failure. Melissa was 32 and left behind a 8 year old son. Her son is now being raised by a close family friend. Until this tragedy I had no idea that mixing alcohol and Tylenol was a bad idea. I came to learn afterwards a friend lost a sister the same way. She left 2 young children behind. I think that people think that if you can buy it over the counter that it isn’t a potentially dangerous product.
Not trying to be an a$$ rest her soul but this young lady went way over the safety zone with the amounts she took. Don't you think? Today the medical profession has people thinking the more meds they take the quicker they feel better. Doctors are buddies to the Pharm. Co.s not their patients. This is a sad situation with your sons girlfriend!! Stories like this break my heart! I was a pain killer addict per order of my DOCTOR. I did everything he told me. I finally took my life back by myself! If it wasn't for my fear of life in prison he would have no pain either.
I love that you guys covered turmeric supplements!!! When I tell doctors that I take this they don’t even write it down. They’re pretty dismissive about natural remedies.
I like Indian food and the turmeric does help a bit. Curry too.Cinnamon helps my blood sugar, but it's risky taking too much (as I'm diabetic and go to an endocrinologist who sent me to a nephrologist) as the supplemental pill form lowers my blood sugar too much. A few sprinkles works better. My liver was spared in time.
Great Info guys, I think regarding the Tylenol last comment was that over dose can cause damage to kidneys , but Acetaminophen's main damage take place in the liver where it gets metabolized. NSAIDs on the other hand put it's effect on the Kidneys where the breakdown takes place.
I had Pectus Excavatum surgery last yr. I was given 5 different pain killers (yes, it’s that painful) but I refused to take it. Opioid addiction is very real. I did take 1 ibuprofen a day on worse days. These videos are amazing. Can we donate $ or fund your cause??
I was so happy to see turmeric in your selection! I was given some to try recently, not expecting noticeable results as I assumed it was a sort of "placebo" supplement...boy, was I SHOCKED at how much it has helped with my inflammation! It doesn't give me an upset stomach the way Ibuprofen or aleve do, either. I just wish now that someone had told me about turmeric earlier, because I have been suffering for years with chronic pain and inflammation issues. Kudos for spreading the knowledge!
I take 1800 mg daily in caplet form. Make sure the brand you select includes black pepper extract/bioperine....it enhances your body's absorption of Turmeric Curcumin.
I am not a medical professional and this is just my experience. As of November of last year I had badly swollen legs. After some research I made a mix of turmeric, ginger, and pepper. I used it every day and my legs went back to normal. I do other things as well but when I stop my legs swell back up (not near as bad) and go back down when I start back up. Again do your due diligence as this is just a personal experience. Peace
@@dawnmaclear3388 At that time I had a job where I walked up to 2 miles a day. I also sat in my car (they finally got us security officers a guard shack) the rest of my 12 hour shift. July of last year I found myself in the hospital with a skin infection in my legs caused by what I found out is called limphodemia my lymphatic system apparently stopped working in my legs if I don't prop my legs up once every 4 hours I can swell up alot. I also have as part of this what is called limphorrhea and its just as bad as it sounds..lymphatic fluid leaks...you guess it...from my legs. Lymph is kinda acidic so that's all kinds of fun. But there is a lot of folks who have it worse than I. So yes I do stay active but I need to step my game up but I may never rid myself of this condition. Peace.
Tylenol is dangerous! Many liver failure patients inadvertently took too much, or too long, or in addition to regular alcohol use and killed their livers.
Dr Bob & Dr Brad: first of all, you have a collection of amazing videos. you are lifetime subscribed! Indians have cooked using "turmeric", not "tumeric" for 1000s of years everyday. Clearly it can be taken for a lifetime without any adverse side effects.
Regarding turmeric, I've got nerve pain from degenerative disc disease and I make turmeric tea... it really works and calms my nerve pain within a few minutes. I'm trying to stay away from prescription pills as I have heartburn and these pills just make it worse. Definitely recommend turmeric!
I am going to say this: Ibuprofen May have saved my life. I had nightmare level menstrual cramps. It did not stop them, but it was way more effective than aspirin. I am 58, so it came OTC at a good time. I wish doctors took cramps seriously. I used to throw up for 12-16 hours each and every month.
and no one, NO ONE took me seriously, said I was "anxious" or "nervous" or "sensitive", I suffered all my menstruating life from age 13 until age 50. I WELCOMED menopause with open arms. The only relief I had was pregnancy and nursing my kids a LONG time, which suppressed ovulation and gave some relief!!!
Have any of you been tested for endometriosis or PCOS? My youngest daughter had these same problems. She went to many doctors & finally went to a women's clinic where she was diagnosed with both of these conditions. Part of the cure is a whole different way of eating. Her body reacts to processed foods & fast food. It has been a long journey.
@@reneeworkman9987 I was not, but I do probably have insulin resistance, which is the underlying cause of PCOS. Off and on I did find compassionate doctors who hooked me up with anti nausea meds and narcotics for it. I had a hysterectomy at 47, there was never any push for deeper diagnoses. Women with menstrual problems are rarely helped to this day. I am very happy your daughter got help.
@Sassy Sarina no, just saw an opportunity to rant!😀. Turmeric was not ever suggested as a remedy. I am 59 now, and had total hysterectomy at 47, so 12 lovely years ago.
@J C B you are probably right on mark. Female providers who don’t have menstrual problems are the worst! They think their experience is everyone’s. Women suffer daily, worldwide for no reason!
My doctor had me take 2 extra-strength Tylenol with 2 Advil - said it has the same effects of Vicodin, without the bad side effects. Each one attacks a different nerve pathway. Taking each one alone only attacks one pathway. That combo works better for me for pain than just about anything!
mary wolfe sometimes paid by pharm companies as a bonus. The doctor I worked for said he paid fir his daughters wedding purely by promoting new drugs and getting patients to sign in to trials.
mary wolfe: I have a theory about doctors and medication. "the more side effects they can distribute to a patient the quicker the patient forgets the original problem, also I'm sure most Dr.s are on the pharmaceutical Companies payroll. They are supposed to be helping you not just making big bucks. My theory!!!
Forgot to say that turmeric needs to be taken with black pepper and some fat to be fully absorbed. Tylenol can damage the liver, I did not know though that it can damage the kidney too.
I make turmeric paste. a two week supply and small amount on the end of a spoon and swallow like a pill. And must be fresh ground black pepper . The black pepper makes the curcumin stay in your body longer. the paste consists of water , turmeric cooked for about 5 till thick minutes . Then fresh ground pepper and coconut oil.
Sorry late to the party by several years but sure appreciate you keeping you videos available you two famous guys!!!! This is the wife, by the way. Have been making the rounds to the doctors and imaging from MRI just became available. Also have been in PT and changing medications on me, saw anesthesiologist today for pain management. Gave neighbor Heimlich maneuver when I was about 23, got 2 herniated discs, L4 and 5. Saved her life but messed mine up. So along with whiplash from dummies driving into me, I have always believed in chiropractors and yoga. Come to find out I am Gumby as I have Ehlers-Danlos. Now 61. Adjustments don't do me much good as I slip right back into place. So going to try core pilates as PT wasn't too effective. Have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis, hip dysplasia, bad sciatica and scoliosis, not to mention the broken tailbone from a figure skating accident. And it switches from side to side. I fall lots. Not a heavy person, either and pretty darn strong, own a ranch/farm ALL ORGANIC, fruit, veggies, beef and dairy. This falling thing is bad as I get a lightning bolt down my back and drop to my knees and hands. Just last 3 months. So, yes have been taking tumeric, etc., also cooking with. New doc says take ashwaghanda because I only sleep 4 hours on average now because of pain. Tylenol is a joke, allergic to Ibuprofen and aspirin. Prescribed me gabapentin (which I detest and used before for tendonitis). Gotta tell you someone came over a few weeks ago and I had a few puffs of Mary Jane. Dang if that pain didn't go away in a few minutes. It was unreal and boy did I feel relaxed. First time in ages. Asked doc about that, she shied away from talking about even though legal in this state. A doc once told me every pill is a drop of poison. She agreed with that. I almost want to bet on the dark horse, Mary Jane. My feeling if that is what works to relieve the pain, then she should have prescribed that. I would like the pharmacist's thoughts. She wanted to do an xray epidural steroid. Nope. Not for me, if she misses, I am lame for life. Besides have heavy metal poisoning from too many xrays. So, I am going to continue doing excercises I was prescribed and watch your videos for more. It is now coming together in my head as your video on spinal stenosis really explained the situation with damning diagnosis now. L3,L4, L5 and S1 are in deep doo doo. Thank you so much you famous duo!!!!! Look forward to watching RU-vid as I wail away with excercises. I want to avoid surgery. Anything you could tell me or add would be helpful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and broken tailbone.
Love the videos. Wish commenting folks would remember there are 8 billion people on the planet. This is ONE aspect of pain management. What did or didn't work for you, may or may not work for someone else. Everyone can make their own decisions based on the information they gather.
UK pharmacist since 1986 : 3 main points : 1) When using anti-imflammatories such as ibuprofen [Advil] or naproxen [Aleve] - Chris is quite right that they should be taken with or after food to protect against gastric irritation , however, I would stress that people ought to take care when undertaking exercise while using them - by alleviating pain ( a natural body warning response ) they can actually mask intentionally protective symptoms and as such , a person could quite easily over-exercise and aggravate the actual condition that they are attempting to remedy. My simple pain rules : "If it kills - don't do it - If it hurts do it slowly". And only use anti-imflammatories under due guidance. If pain hurts - then exercise but do it slowly and gently - only gradually adding strain and try to avoid pain killers or anti-imflammatories as pain is likely your best guide - Furthermore, the body over time will begin to release its own natural pain-killers - the encephalins and endorphins - which will promote recovery as you are able to exercise that bit longer. 2) Dosages - In the UK appear to differ a little bit from those that Chris mentioned. We generally follow these ADULT daily dose regimes : - Ibuprofen [Advil] - maximum 400mg up to three times a day with or after food - separating the doses by 6-8 hourly. Available most widely in generic form as 200mg and 400mg tablets. - Naproxen [Aleve] - for joint imflammation on prescription - usually 500mg twice a day with or after food. The counter products that are currently available here have a limit at 250mg per tablet and are not offered for use in prescription doses - somewhat paradoxically (alike ibuprofen) they are indicated for gastric cramp pain in ladies during menses, between the ages of 15 and 50. - Paracetamol, (acetaminophen [Tylenol]) - maximum of 1000mg (two 500mg tablets) in divided doses of 4-6 hourly intervals over 24 hours. Paracetamol is considered safe in general use within the confines of these adult dosages but NEVER above them - this could cause dangerous problems to the liver. 3) Never take a combination of anti-imflammatories e.g. naproxen with ibuprofen or aspirin for alleviating muscular pain or imflammation. The only exception might be where a doctor prescribes low-dose aspirin for heart attack/stroke prevention.
This was an exceptionally informative vid--thank you! However I am wondering why aspirin was not included in this line-up? Aspirin or its origins have been used for decades to centuries with less side affects than the newer pharmaceuticals. I would appreciate some info on aspirin as compared to the other pills. On the other hand, I am glad that turmeric was included in the line-up as it is another more natural option.
thank you, this was very informative and I appreciate that Chris, the Pharmacist, mentioned to be careful with the kidneys and Tylenol; after a couple of days taking it i always feel like i was sucker-punched in both kidneys. mentioned it to a Dr. once and she said "no, you mean your liver", my reply as i pointed to my back on both sides, "yes, both of them" lol I absolutely trust my pharmacist for info on my medications, so full of knowledge.
Long term use of Nsaids WILL kill you. Unknown to me, My overuse of Nsaids caused a peptic ulcer. No symptoms at all. Then one day I was working out and felt terrible, went home, got in bed and told my wife not to leave me alone. A couple of hours later I was in an ambulance, passing blood out my rear and my blood pressure was down to 20/40, just about to flat line. Mt recovery was about 18 months before I regained total strength. The only reason I survived was because my O2 saturation was 100% due to my high physical fitness level. If I had been a sedentary person, I would have been doing the permanent dirt nap. So beware of Ibuprofen or aspirin or aleve. These ARE dangerous drugs that will kill you. If you don't believe me, do some research on your own. You will be shocked at what you find and how many people did not survive like I did.
+ Trey Coale - Yes, it's the long-term use that is the problem. I made that mistake, now I have to take the generic version of Prilosec -- probably the rest of my life. :-| People should look into what happens with long-term use and how it damages one's organs. If I want to have a heart attack, all I need to do now is take an NSAID - any NSAID - over-the-counter OR prescription. Then look into how heartburn meds affect one's nutritional intake and how difficult and painful it is to get off over-the-counter serious heartburn meds like Prilosec. You'll start thinking twice about taking inexpensive ibuprofen on a regular basis.
Trey Coale I'm recovering now because the same thing just happened to me. Lucky for me I spent the night at my Mom's house, just like you for some reason I wasn't well and didn't want to be left alone.
Started using turmeric spice 7-8 months ago. Maybe a tablespoon on egg dish or salad. Wonderful results. Back off every month or so for a few days. Body tells you when to stop or use lower amount.
Its turmeric guys. I'm glad this is mentioned, as it's a regular part of Indian food. Its anti inflammatory and anti viral effects and well known and proven. However add just a pinch of it to a cup of tea or in your food as it's a little pungent and strong. Good thing is there are no side effects and could be consumed for the rest of your life.
Turmeric (yes, note the first "R", that is the correct spelling) is a root. It is not spicy. The inside looks identical to a carrot (orange). The flavor and texture is similar to a carrot but not as hard. Turmeric produces a dark yellow oil based stain so a residue can cling to a knife, the color will stain fingers and food it is put in. That said, stained utensils and dishes are washable, just something to keep in mind. When I handle a lot of turmeric and am concerned about staining (not usually), I use disposable vinyl gloves. Finally turmeric is not hot in flavor. The hot flavor in curried rice is not from turmeric but the yellow color is. I pronounce it tur-mer-ick but most say too-mer-ick and omit the first "R".
@@reneeworkman9987 Take? Not sure to what you refer. I refer to the vegetable itself. Raw. It looks and tastes similar to a carrot. A big difference from a carrot though is the oil content of turmeric which is higher and accumulates and stains more easily. Your heartburn, not sure. Depends on other things like foods, alcohol, smoking, drugs. Aspirin can be a problem when not enteric and taken with food. Look to remove noxious things like smoking and alcohol first. I have found deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) to be helpful along with raw kale. I had to get accustomed to the latter but it is a great alternative to lettuce in sandwiches. Use in salads. I have kale as a side with breakfast and dinner.
@@hmarkmacha6261 I have tried Turmeric in capsules & in a bone broth. It gave me indigestion. I have recently tried a tea with Turmeric in it & that hasn't been so harsh.
It's great that you brought in an expert in pharmaceuticals to talk about pain medications. I like that he covered the pros AND cons to using the medications. It would also be great if you brought in an expert in herbal medicine too, if you're going to talk about herbal medicines. You can contact the American Herbalists Guild in the US to connect with some fantastic ones. Regarding Turmeric: Most of the studies that have been done were using curcumin, which is one of the phytochemicals contained in Turmeric (Curcuma longa), and should never be confused with the use of the whole rhizome. Single phytochemical vs whole rhizome and the way it is used/extracted can determine/change its affects. Some of your commenters have already pointed out that turmeric is better absorbed when consumed with fat and black pepper. Some people find that a water extract works far better than taking a capsule. There are many other herbs that could also be a benefit in pain and healing. For example, I often recommend topical use of shredded ginger. Hops (Humulus lupulus) may be an excellent alternative to commonly used drugs because of it's ability to inhibit COX-2 without inhibiting COX-1 (at least as a CO2 extract.) (Planta Med 2006; 72(3): 228-233). I would love to see more research on this and other dosage forms. Then there are plants like Rhodiola rosea (an Adaptogen) that can be a good addition to the athlete, as well as others, and their ability to recover from exercise. This barely scratches the surface of what plants could do to help people. Another suggested expert is a nutritionist to help with what to put in your body for the building blocks to healing and maintaining health. Thanks for the great videos.
My Dr said no when I asked for ibpruven( said it ruins your kidneys ,) the rest of the medication aren't much better beware they all have dangerous side effects and ruin your organs I found that turmeric with black pepper and Boswellia is amazing !!! Try that you will be amazed how that helps ........
I use Turmeric powder and curry powder in my smoothie and I use a lot of essential oils for pain, headache...I never take over the counter pain relievers.... they can cause kidney damage...
Ibuprofen 800 mg day for RA, ended up in the ER with acidosis and perforated kidney. Kidney Dr advised many people end up on dialysis after taking Ibuprofin. I could take it on an empty stomach with no problem. But, it did it damaged my kidneys. That was 20 years ago, and my kidneys are normal now.
The MD that did Prolotherapy on my neck to heal an old whiplash injury said the reason I didn't heal initially was because I took ibuprofen right after the injury which stopped the healing process. She said when tendons or ligaments are torn never use ibuprofen in the first 3 days or healing is interrupted.
@@barbarawebb7185 Yes. I have had much improvement. Insurance doesn't cover it so I have had to ration the treatments. I can now turn my head and converse with someone who isn't directly in front of me without pain and I can look behind my car as I'm backing up. I no longer wake up with an ecru headache. That made it worth every nickel! I do still have some pain.
I'm a chef at an airplane manufacturing company( that starts with the letter "B") and the jars of this spice that we've ordered has been spelled Turmeric AND Tumeric. One company was Crescent and the other was McCormic. This was in the 70's. Sooo, you are ALL correct.
Read this: drinktemple.com/blogs/ingredients/is-it-spelled-tumeric-or-turmeric-from-confusion-to-clarity. Bottom line, the spelling of the word turmeric includes both R's. There has been at least one company name that included tumeric as part of the spelling of that company name. That does NOT make the actual name of the spice spelled that way. It is also possible for shipping containers to misspell turmeric. It is obvious from this thread that it is a commonly misspelled word. But let's not extend the misconception. Turmeric is the correct spelling, period.
This is my first time watching your videos and I really enjoyed the information, BUT you guys really need to be aware that the background noise was so LOUD. I could hear the conversations of the people in your office. I can't believe you could even do your presentation, such a huge distraction from your very informative presentation. Is this your lunch room?
Hey. Thanks allot for the advice with the sciatic nerve stretch. My brother in law let me borrow his shock treatment device, and I must say. When I did your method of toe up head up. Almost all the pain went away. I can't thank you enough for the knowledge. You guys are a life saver!
It is essential for anyone using turmeric for aches, pains or inflammation, to know it needs to be taken with black pepper, which increases the bioavailability of curcumin - a key anti-inflammatory compound in turmeric. For adequate treatment levels, supplements containing both curcumin (extracted from turmeric) and piperine (extracted from black pepper) are most effective. Taking with a little fat such as a big swallow of whole milk, a small piece of cheese or chocolate improves absorption.
I used to take Aleve for my severe pain in my arms, the numbness, stabbing nerve pain in my hands and fingers, it worked but I was taking WAY too much (3X max recommended dosage), I decided to retry the Turmeric/black pepper capsules I had made a while back, I loaded the "00" capsules with a mixture of 2-3 tablespoons turmeric and 1 tsp of ground black pepper (made 24+ capsules), took 3 (from what I understand it comes to 1100mg total) and I feel it works way better than the Aleve, I can work longer without a 30 second break to regain the feeling in my arms/hands and all my other aches seemed better as well, so I am making the switch to turmeric/pepper, better on my kidneys for sure, and liver, and brain, just better all the way!!
I had to turn to Walnuts of all things, I ingest about a cup a day which after 2 or so months has given me great relief in back and sciatic pain. Tumeric, Ibuprofen, and Aleve, as well as Aspirin, are not an option thanks to a history of hemorrhagic ulcers. So if you are like me try walnuts. Tylenol is about as effective as a glass of water when it comes to chronic pain. I know this from personal experience. It can also reduce your empathy. Look it up. :)
Banana's and milk. Helps greatly with inflammation. But I also take 500-1000mg of turmeric (w/black pepper for absorption) daily. I have told this to sooooo many people and they all have thanked me repeatedly for it helping with joint issues.
@ Art in a Small Town - And don't I know it! It's very difficult to explain the pain someone feels from it as you get the response, "But you look so well!" If one has a cast on an appendage, you get a lot more understanding and empathy/sympathy from even a stranger on the street. Fibromyalgia is a lonely condition; many people who don't understand the complications of it think you're faking pain and just acting like a baby. I used to have flareups so bad when I was working, that I'd go into the supply closet/room and lay on the floor during my breaks or lunch hour just for a little relief.
I feel for you all! It's the same deal with arthritis and other rheumatic/inflammatory/autoimmune disorders wch I have a diagnosis of. But because it's all internal and not like an open wound that's apparent, people don't always get it. I also always get the "but you look good or look well" comment too. Wch I know is well-meaning but also very frustrating. It makes you feel isolated and alone. Sometimes I feel more of a connection from random strangers online like on this thread.
@@utubefreshie Yea its tough and hang in there my friend. I been suffering with muscle/joint pain. Sometimes I feel sore and stiff and other times dull and numbing pain. Bloodwork is always normal and I feel frustrated that I fatigue quickly. Finally a doctor that is taking me serious because the pain and weakness I feel is real.
@@joser83111 I hope you find a proper diagnosis! For me, there's usually a trigger. If I'm able to avoid the trigger then I'm able to avoid a flare-up and the resulting pain. Good luck and take care!
I have heard of people like you whom Tylenol does not help however, thankfully, Tylenol does the job for me. I wonder why some things work for some and not for others?
@@mikemikie975 Probably because people take it for different reasons. Tylenol is not an anti-inflammatory, so if your pain is from inflammation, it might not work.
It’s frustrating to me when I hear people say check with your doctor if you have to take this for more than a week. Everyone knows osteoarthritis is for the rest of your life. And if you’re taking Advil you will have to take it forever. The only options to the things that you have suggested here are narcotics which are even worse. Easier on the stomach but very easy to get addicted to. You can do some yoga and some meditation but bottom line if you have chronic pain you’re kind of screwed.
I do get my painkiller from a source on WhatsApp +1(647)-492-6459 if you need to get yours delivered to you cus if your pain hook me up. Doctors won’t give the right dosage for pains because they want you to comeback. The is a cure to all diseases medics are somewhat phycos they all have same mission. “Keep the patient coming”.
yeah,...kathy,...been taking oxycodone for three years,....gotta have it now,...also high doses of tylejnol arthritis 650's....pain everyday...even done morphine,..C.B.D. OIL,,DID IT ALL..!
I remember a study out there from 10 years ago that seemed to conclude that ISAIDS post workout impedes your body’s ability to recuperate on its own. The conventional wisdom within the endurance circles is to wait 24 hours before popping “vitamin I”.
After foot surgery nothing was really working for the swelling-tried turmeric worked and I did stop taking all other medications-did not use pepper with it either.
I live in California where it is legal... hopefully other states will follow suit soon. Here's the site so you can at least get your research started: elementalwellnesscenter.com/
lucy skye try your local health food store. I live in florida and they have CBD oil at nutrition smart. Its expensive but it doesn't get you high. They just legalized medical marijuana here so it will be more available. Even in Texas you should be able to find the CBD oil.
Hello Gentlemen. As a new subscriber, I appreciate all of the medical, pharmaceutical, and PT advice. In this video, my only question is this: Why is the “wonder drug,” aspirin not involved in this discussion? BTW...I use turmeric, cayenne, black and red pepper, ACV, and a cruciferous vegetable like kale or broccoli (all organic, of course) with a little filtered water and put it all in a blender-I use it every morning! As a 63 year old man, who still works out as a bodybuilder, this is far preferable than chemical products to control pain and inflammation for me!
I took 800mg for back pain for 10-12 yrs., ,Doctor kept refilling, way before all the new info. Was available. I stooped a year agouti, cause I thought I should. A new Dr. Last summer, did complete lab work, discovered I am in stage 3 renal failure. Stage 5 is when you have to do dyalisis. He said it was from taking it so long. So now My pain is worse, only thing safe to take is Tylenol, which does nothing for me. Just wanted to share this for anyone who is taking it.
Wendy, you took 800 mg of what for 10 to 12 years? I ask that because I have been taking 800 mg of ibuprofin for about that long at least for my back. Please respond ASAP.
I had a close call due to overdosing Aleve a few years ago. I was taking two every 12 hours for weeks as a back pain preventative. Long story short I ended up in the ER then ICU for a night due to severe GI bleeding. Thought I was dying when I saw the look on my two nurses, who were also my friends, faces. My blood pressure dropped significantly and my bowels opened up. I had uncontrollable spasms of my body ridding itself of the blood in my GI tract. I will very rarely take NSAIDs now. Ibuprofen sometimes, and more often I'll take aspirin/acetaminophen combo.
I'm 64 years old. I have used Ibuprofen for pain relief. It does work and very well, but I find that when I stop taking the Ibuprofen then I am in more pain than before I started taking the Ibuprofen. I have now stopped taking Ibuprofen and indeed all pain killers. I have also read aticles about Ibuprofen being harmful for the Heart. I might be in agony sometimes, but I still love being alive...Cheers!
