Nearly a year getting my characters to look exactly the way I want, and they just import to Unreal in a few clicks. "Saving a Ton of time" As someone else said, that's an understatement.

IMPORTANT IMPORT SETTING - 4:43 timestamp.. You also need to set the Material Import Method to Do Not Create Material and Import Textures to disabled. The Plugin imports and creates the materials correctly this way. If you don't change this (which was addressed in previous auto-setup tutorials) you'll notice issues with your mesh instances creating MaterialInstanceDynamic Material which is data only. Hopefully this helps anyone with the same issue, it took me a few hours to debug and I was lucky I'd backed up my project before upgrading the autosetup plugin.

I allways did this in UE4, but dont know if it applies correctly to UE5. Have been getting better results with the steps shown in the video, with virtual shadows maps (Beta) active. I know that in UE5 that option is no longer Beta, it impacts the quality of models so much, but it comes at a high cost resource wise.

Would love to see one for v-ray to get 1:1 from CC4/iclone into maya or max. Vray is widely the most common renderer on the market Great video btw!

On your previous UE4 tutorial for autosetup we had "Do not create material" but here those settings were left alone, is this the correct new way? Many thanks.

I have no animation, UE Outpu log says: No smoothing group information was found in this FBX scene. Please make sure to enable the 'Export Smoothing Groups' option in the FBX Exporter plug-in before exporting the file. Even for tools that don't support smoothing groups, the FBX Exporter will generate appropriate smoothing data at export-time so that correct vertex normals can be inferred while importing. How to fix it?

Hi!, where i can find the MHC tool in Unreal Engine. I uploaded the plugin but the FPS now drops down to 10 fps (i was 90 before aupgrade) i guess unreal is not recognicing the plug in. thanks!

Thanks a lot for this video. Question: I'm following these steps to the T. The textures get brought in, but the materials are blank still. The only difference is that I didn't have the option for HQ when I imported it. I did receive a bunch of messages while it imported that said, "Miss RLShader Date". Is there an option that I'm missing here, or is there another video that can show how to set up all of the materials? I'd prefer the former since there are so many that come with one of these models. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: I didn't install the plugin correctly. I tried to copy the contents to the engine's folder so that I could install this at will in a project. This doesn't allow for the shaders folder to be placed in the project though. This seems like a bug that could be fixed. It would be way more convenient if a user doesn't have to keep copying files around when they try to use this method. After that though, everything came in great. The HQ option was available, no errors while importing, and all of the materials were created properly. Thanks again!

If i just export motion from CC4 but my model has facial animation, is this enough or do i have to export mesh and motion please? (i already have exported the T pose earlier)

For anyone having issues with hair that comes in too transparent. Just increase the Opacity Multiplier in the hair material(s) that Auto setup creates for your character in Unreal

im having issues with the unreal live link and autosetup when i use live link and import to unreal 5.0.3 the charectors hair and eyes and brows are not perfect even though in the video it shows they are. weird.

Therer is a blendshape error on custom characters with 3dxchange on unreal engine 5.2.1. Therer unknown characters like the dollars sympol.this version of unreal can read it anymore.what should i do?

This is nice but it would be even better if we saw how to take an entire scene in iClone 8 and move it to Unreal to render. So far all I've seen is moving assets as if you were building a game environment (which is fine but with the lagging of iClone's renderer doing it in some outside program seems the only feasible way for RL to compete nowadays).

@@armondtanz Some of us have TONS of content already we would rather not try and find/duplicate/pay for. I honestly have WAY more content than I will ever use in my lifetime and if I can't bring that into UnReal I am NOT going to use that engine. But - I'll look at that tutorial to see if that's possible, thanks.

I try to install the Auto Setup (Version 1.32.5924.1), but the app always freezes when it opens the installation wizard. Anyone know why this is happening? Thanks!

Hope they fixed the transparency problem from iclone 7 to Unreal Engine. The hair was a constant problem that was never truly solved

With this auto update iClone and CC4 are light years ahead of the Daz Bridge. Sooo, I thought I would be smart and test to see if i could convert a daz character to CC3+ base and send through the Auto Updater. It was, ummm, painful, and I had very scary results. If anyone knows if it IS possible please let me know. Maybe I need to tick other boxes I wasn't aware of when exporting. Thought this might have been the answer to all my problems. POSTEDIT: Got this to work with Daz Characters, and all is working well.

Yes, you can. It utilizes the Auto Setup feature when you are transferring something via iClone Live Link.

If you're going to import FBX files like motions, it will take time in Unreal, which is normal.

I finally figured it out. Change the anti aliasing method in project settings to TAA instead of FXAA.

With your import setup unreal create basic material for my character and not with your shaders. Before for CC3 we need to change material search for don't search and material import for do not create material. If I do this my character doesn't have any material. I use the last version of unreal engine 5 and the last version of your plugin.

I used the auto setup for ue5.0.3. The result is bad. The hands of any meshes exported from cc4 to fbx are distorsed. It is better not to use the auto setup while importing to UE5

Yeah, but it doesn't work with control rig or the UE5 Skeleton. There is not even a pose that matches, not even the T-pose is the same. With regard to making a usable character, this is still stuck in the Unreal Engine 4 era :( Hope you don't need IK because you won't get it with this software unless you already know how to set it up from scratch

The animations are not being included!! I even tried exporting the animation directly from iClone and it just imports with a static UE5 pose.... no animation sequences... such an expensive bit of software that spends most of its time broken...

first I couldn't login to account then your website doesn't work then downloads fail . Now the link for plugin doesnt exist / work. coming from daz, what a horrible experience this has been so far. entire day just wasted trying to figure basic things out.
