Thanks for the great video! I can’t believe that you read through so many Bibles and marked them beautifully in only two years! When I started to follow your video, I was assuming that you’ve been doing this for a decade at least! It’s so encouraging :) I’ve been a Bible believing Christian over a decade but yet only one Bible has been coloured (mostly because I was very scared to ruin my Bible...). After watching your video, you gave me a whole new perspective on how to meditate on my Bible reading everyday and it is really excited to know that you can do so much in only two years! I was hesitant about drawing in my bible, but I purchased one specifically FOR journaling. You can frequently find them online for awesome discounts (i.e. watch christianbook.com frequently has them marked WAY down. Now I have several that I journal in, and one or two that I just use for different translations. You're doing an awesome job in these videos. Thank you!

Also another idea if someone wanted to Mark in their Bible but not mark on the pages with the beautiful art but wanted that art image over the scripture they could use vellum and just put the images on the vellum.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Right now I’m sticking with more inexpensive varieties but it would be nice to have one for passing down in the family.

Thank You Cat for this informative video! I have several bibles that are loved and have my finger prints all inside with scribbles, lines, hi lites and even drawn 💐. So It’s quite exciting to have that one special bible for whatever the reason might be...just to read his word. I have the same issue. So, some Bible's are dedicated for reading only and some are for writing and a few are for illustrating. Nice video. Thanks!

Yes that's what I've been doing with my writing out Ephesians. I've been drawing on the note paper and I feel free doing it. Ryc that you didn't realize it was so windy.. I try to choose a wind still day when I buy helium filled balloons but once I buy them I discover there is always a breeze to battle. Very nice video .I'm enjoying the book of Ephesians.

I have one premium bible. I seldom pull it out. I’m 53 and I’m in the phase of my life of deep studying verses. Reviewing my scriptures in an older set of eyes. And that bible didn’t have the study references and help needs (notes) I’m looking for. So it’s sitting in a box up In the closet. All protected and put away. I have about 5-6 or so, or more 😱, that I’m combining so many study notes and putting it all together as one big study. I’m even mixing translations- which is HUGE to me! (However, I don’t use the NIV at all, it’s just a me thing.) I have a ton of composition books, college rules paper, and I write on the front spine (the paper side) the subject or the book or the subject I’m studying. These comp books are collecting up with notes and so much room to do this journaling. Then it doesn’t make my bibles so messy or congested. BUT I do have two compact bibles I’m growing gardens in. AND I have two “single column journaling bibles that I am creating artwork in. So it didn’t matter to cover up words in those because it’s all about that verse or story on that page! I will read the page and pull out the story or theme on the page, if there’s more than one, I’ll separate them and do two. Or three sections. WOW...got off on a soapbox! Original point was - I’m one of those that want to take my bible and post note it up, dog ear that page, make a note in it, circle a word and I don’t want a beautiful one I’m afraid to scratch it or tear a page. All bibles are beautiful to me because they contain my Life of Laws to live by. So that pretty one can stay pretty for another day! Oh, I sis take it out about 2-3 times....when I attend a funeral or marriage. Yes, I will take a bible to those. And I will nicely write that event in that bible. And or on Christmas Eve to church. Then it goes back up. I need to learn more and more write now and start being able to quote my bible verses! Do I get an Amen?

My sister as always another fantastic video. The Bible is not just a book. The Bible is God's word to us. The Bible helps us to know God's love for us. The Bibles talks to us. Today we have all these different translations and different formats, etc. In the past many people had only one Bible. When you see a old, used Bible you see the notes and marking of the past owner. Our Bibles are not meant to be locked away like some museum artifact. ( of the original 180 Gutenberg Bibles, 49 are known to exist today. 21 of those are still complete and my family has one of this that is passed down to the first male of the next generation) Our Bibles are meant to be used!

Just watched this video. I use some marking in my Bible, and do a lot of note taking in a composition notebook. It's where I can write the verses, then do my studying there.

Cat thank you so much for passing along that info for i too was struggling. I got the humble lamb bible and I really don't want to write in it.

I have several 'premium' Bibles and so far I haven't marked in them. The one I've been using daily I keep thinking I want to highlight but honestlythe pages are thin and there's not a lot of margin space. It's not a good candidate IMO for marking but is great for reading - I love the feel of it - turning the pages and holding it. I have another that I plan on writing in because the margins are bigger and it's single column. I find when I mark it stands out for the moment and helps me interact but when I go back to read my eyes are drawn to the notes/highlights and they distract sometimes - other times they bless me with 'wow when did I learn this? and why did I forget it?!'

This is what I do: I have one premium bible that I ONLY read from--that's it. However, I have a few bibles that either don't have the space, or for whatever reason, I am not comfortable writing in a particular bible ( I have several that I mark up like crazy). If there is a verse that resonates with me, or I want to journal an experience or lesson, I put a small star/asterisk by the verse AND at the top of the page. (Sometimes the asterisk don't jump out in the text, but the asterisk at the top of the page lets me know I have highlighted a verse or paragraph on that page.) After I star in both places, I write what is on my heart or mind in my notebook. I don't always write the verse in the notebook, but sometimes I do. Above where I start writing, I note the name of the bible, page number, and book name and verse number. I also keep an Index on the first 4 pages to keep track where my writings are. I hope this makes sense. I love your video's and ideas!

I do this for a study Bible I don't like marking in.

I’ve used the S.O.A.P. Method when I Read the word, or sometimes I’ll just pray and just open the Word up and wherever the pages open up to, I start reading it then I use it to record how it applies to my life at that time. I use highlighters, various pen colors to record dates and times. By the way, what was the name of the first bible you referred to in this video? I’d like to get it.

Sometimes all I do is write my name on the presentation page, and deeply regret it 😂

I could never afford to get the Humble bible that you have. And I couldn't even imagine marking in it. I'm one of those people who can't even cover the words in my bible. And the bible even says not to blot out His words. I have a cheaper journaling bible that I mark and write and put little notes. But I have an older KJV that was given to me by someone very special, and I don't write all over it. I do highlight verses--but I can't write all over it. I think it comes down to if you were driving a Mercedes Benz would you stick bumper stickers all over and taking it out riding in the mud? Or would you treasure it, care for it and cherish it. You would drive it--that's what it's for. But you wouldn't disrespect it. And I feel that way toward certain bibles.
