I just started mine today with herns and lettuce. Your crop looks great. Im glad you mentioned the little holes, and top of sponge need covered. I wouldnt have known to cover holes, and sponges i would have forgotten to cover. I prefer the top lid buttons over aerogarden lower buttons. It was difficult for me to see readout when using buttons on aerogarden. I had it sitting on a lower coffee table. Take care.i meant herbs.i forgot to mention my cones for sponges are different, more like aerogarden.

Thank for spending the time to show this, been on the fence about getting this but now I see is not as easy as 1-2-3.. the sponges, and this and that doesn’t make it any easier than old school gardening. It seems like iDoo has changed the sponges in the 12 model since this video was made. I had purchased one last week and the pods are longer and cone shaped. I don't have an aerogarden or iDoo 7 model to compare, but I'd imagine it's the same as the 7 now. I'm glad they switched it so that you don't have to keep it as full for the sponges to reach the water because it doesn't pour water on top of the sponge like aerogarden. I think the trick you did with the rockwool would probably work if you start the plants in a towel, or even a cut pool noodle if it's well started in soil and has long enough roots.

I got one of these about a month ago. I’m using it to grow lettuce. It’s doing alright, but, as you noted, there are a few things to be desired about the unit. I broke a lettuce off by accident as I was harvesting because the plants tend to grow above the sponges and have little support at their base. I had a little bit of uneven growth but nothing as bad as what you had initially. The light is not as strong as Aerogarden. And the fan is a joke. Barely moves any air. It’s nice to have something with 12 spaces for such a great price and I’m glad I got it but I don’t think I’ll buy another one.

At what stage do we harvest? In this video, are you using those leaves for cooking?
@aerogardenexperiments
@aerogardenexperiments 9 месяцев назад
1. If I am harvesting just the leaves, I start harvesting as soon as they develop decent size leaves. Just as a reference, check the video at 8:40 where I showed some bigger leaves. That's when I start harvesting the outer leaves from the bottom so that the plant can continue producing more leaves from the center. 2. If I want a full bulb (for Sautéing), I will wait until the fill bulb is formed. I use Baby Bok Choy in salads as well as in cooking. It's a perfect cabbage substitute for me.
@ednercarle7837
@ednercarle7837 9 месяцев назад
Hello. I have a question. After harvesting the bok choy, can you still regrow the plant?, or you have to start all over again from seeds?
@aerogardenexperiments
@aerogardenexperiments 9 месяцев назад
For long time yield, don't harvest the whole plant. Instead, harvest the outer leaves from the bottom and the plant will continue to produce new leaves from the center. This way, you will get leaves for a couple of weeks, perhaps months.

What type of electrical connection does the upper light/ fan assembly use to connect to the base? It looks to be a round "barrel connector" type plug. It looks good, and pretty close to iDoo 7-pod that I have been using. One thing I wanted to let you know is that the pods and sponges are unique. You may have little hard time finding the compatible sponges or they may be expensive. Second thing (not a deal breaker), sometimes the number of pods will be more but the spacing will be less. So, we end up having difficulty using all pods. Of course, same applies to any model and it's hard to figured that out from images or the description.

I have no issues with roots growing above the pods. The only real issue is the need (likely) to add an air stone to help circulate.

Basic point is if its worth to buy ready grown pot from the shop fresh or grow it at home in the city. Cost of one grown herb plant with roots at pot in the market shop is 1 - 1.5 eur.
