Starline definitely took a great risk by releasing Zavok, especially since he doesn't have a way to keep the Zeti from betraying him. Considering that the others want something from Starline making it unlikely for them to betray him until he fullfills his end of their deals I wouldn't be suprised if Zavok ends up being the one to screw over Starline. Also, I find it interesting that they included more prisoners than just the first four villains in the prison. Up to now I was under the impression that criminals are rather uncommon in the IDW Sonic world. Therefore, I wouldn't have raised an eyebrow if the prison would have only held Mimic, the Skunk brothers and Zavok. Yet they decided to fill it with more prisoners, all of whom are completely new characters. So I wonder if they have plans using those other prisoners as well at some point in the future or at the very least wanted to open up the possibility for more bad guys who were already established criminals in this world before entering the story instead of coming out of nowhere.
To Starline's credit, he is not without his backup weapons and his unwavering loyalty. The doctor is definitely driven to show Eggman how to properly handle world domination. Noting the fact that Everhold prison looks like an acoustic guitar aside, Anyone who has seen superhero comics knows you can never keep supervillains in prison forever, especially under max security. The fact he successfully hypnotized the warden and swayed the big bads to do this was very impressive. Also it helps that strolling out of the burning prison like badasses to add to the "Boys are back in town" moment. Also, the Prison riot was well executed. Starline knows how to play to their desires and weaknesses to rally them to his cause. He may be the sub commander, be he also appears to act as a short term swiss army knife of the group. Granted, Starline has his own agenda, as does everyone else. It is only a matter of time before this fragile Legion of Doom scenario falls apart. But given Starline's charming facade and attention to detail, he may have thought of this ahead of time. TL DR; The issue did well on multiple fronts in regards to worldbuilding, premise setting, and adding more to the characters, Starline in particular. We know Eggman is going to get involved, and that may make or break the Alliance (My rings on the dissolution), but we should savor this little nugget of storytelling.
@@darrylh1971 I see your point, but it’s a very vague reference if they wanted it to be recognized as such, as references are usually meant to be noticed as a reference. SU Sonic played a multi-neck electric guitar with a spiked, circular body shaped like his head. Even his first guitar before he met his siblings was an electric guitar, with an play-arrow shaped body and an off-centre, half-oval headstock; extremely different from the shape of IDW’s prison. Meanwhile, both Prison Island’s prison from SA2 and the prison in this issue are both shaped like acoustic guitars, with taller structures in the middle(sound hole) and the main entrance at the end of the fingerboard in the headstock. I think I’ll agree to disagree.
Starline's plan is slowly taking form. Could the jailbreak be a little homage to Archie's Zone Jail and the Sonic Universe arc of Scourge and the Destructix?

I feel like that Starline setting them free is also so that we have more villains and not just Eggman in every issue of the comics. Plus its a good way to by time for what Eggmans next plan for world conquest to be thought up & put into action for the next arc or the next Saga for the comics. My only concern is that Zavok & the Deadly Six will be the true back up Villains and cause so much chaos that its gonna take time away from the other villains from getting a chance to shine. Plus I kinda want to see Mimic take on Sonic for a change, and for him to be able to understand Whisper's past like how Tangle did.
@@Benicthehedgehog Wow! You are literally the first person, besides myself, that I've seen in comments sections of videos with these comics to prioritize Tails over Amy. Everyone else seems to do the opposite.
This honestly reminds me of that one Sonic Universe ark staring Scourge. It was one of the better ones in my opinion and I'm happy we get to see something similar here in the Idw series. Starline has become one of my favorite villains in the series as a whole now due to how well he's been written and I'm so glad he's becoming more of a serious threat. I wouldn't mind seeing him as the main villain of the series for a while.
@@kunlesanders No Eggman absorbed Infinite and The Phantom Ruby into his Final Boss Machine. Technically you can say he dead but Eggman had a Lot of Clone Bodies of Infinite in the Beginning of Sonic Forces. Having Infinite Lives may still go with his Name.
Something interesting I noticed; in Sonic X the prison building on Prison Island was shaped like a guitar, and was basically GUN’s highest security prison. I wonder if the prison here is a reference?
I think the prison was shaped like a guitar in sonic adventure 2, so the prison in the sonic x adaptation of the game reflects that. So yeah, it’s probably a reference.
Although I never talked about it in my short review of this issue, Bad Guys reminds me of the MLP Last villains that didn't want redemption. A powerful being, or person (If anyone knows what I am talking then you will know that Discord is the one that brought them together and impersonate a powerful being) bringing villains together and the three villains turn on him because of their own reasons. It's actually amazing when you think about. Maybe Ian took the idea from Season 9 but finding ways to make it more interesting.

This sounds like an AWESOME series!! I know this is a weird comparison, but I IMMEDIATELY drew comparison to Marvel Comics and their Villian Team called the Sinister Six, a group of some of Spider-Man's WORST enemies! I really hope this series succeeds!

It's thanks to writer Ian Flynn for this Issue and Jack Lawrence iI began buying this issues. Plus fun artists like Tracey Yardley, cool expressions and poses by Adam Bryce Thomas, and amazing art and writing by Evan Stanley. A lot of people made these comics not only interesting, but fun to read.
Something I wonder in the prison is was Sonic the one who put most of the criminals in their? We don’t normal see him fight every day criminals on the streets just the average robot and super villain.
Pah! Sonic didn't even bother to chase after and jail the most horrible person on both his world and another after defeating him! Why because Sonic's a free spirit who doesn't care for discipline! *facepalm* You know, Sonic, there are some real advantages to being Lawful Good! You should try it sometimes! -_-
VideoGollumer To be fair Eggman would more than likely find a way out of prison. He escaped back in Sonic X so I don’t think this would be any different and plus Sonic’s not THAT free spirited and most of the time he doesn’t get the chance to go after him.

Yes, the second time would have been at his own destruction; but the world would have been doomed because of him, had Silver not intervened. Basically, Eggman has gotten too dangerous, thus it would be wise to take some immediate preemptive action. Really, Eggman should be put to death for what he's done, seeing as he has no regret what so ever, but Sonic STILL thinks he might come around eventually. Still, will Eggman ever get killed off or be reformed in this comic? Over Sega's bankruptcy! Locking him up is the best they could be allowed to do with him. At the very least it would hinder Eggman; it would take him time to work out an escape plan.
Question: if they are robots than why does it look like there is some sort of liquid in the containers? I think were going to get something like Shadow, since Starline is most likely aware that Dr. Eggman's grandfather created SHadow and that Eggman is capable of making an exact copy of Shadow, though whether they will be Shadow clones with different names or they are going to be completely different remains to be seen.
That was an illusion created using the Phantom Ruby, and Infinite spawned them. Even then Shadow was pissed by its existence. If Starline somehow succeeds in duplicating Shadow, he's gonna be ULTIMATELY pissed!

What I meant was some more Ultimate Lifeforms that are based off of some other animals besides Hedgehogs and could possibly have different personalities or may be a male and/or female. I am just stating some possibilities for I have no idea what are in those tanks but they are most likely organic and not technological. And who knows one of those tanks could be holding a recovering Infinite.

I heard that Starline is supposed to be a platypus. It's about time we got a platypus sonic character. I mean come on we already have the other egg laying mammal (Echidna) so why not a platypus?
He's actually not the first platypus in the Sonic Franchise as a whole; we had D.B. Platypus in Sonic Boom. Sadly, like many supporting characters in Sonic Boom, he was an unlikeable d*che.

One thing I don’t really understand is it with every time a platypus character comes into the franchise why do they always have to be antagonists? I mean honestly I think it would be cool to see a platypus action hero. @@mysteriousgirl9211 Yes, well, what meant was that Starline seems to know that Eggman was just using him because of that, and that is probably some additional incentive for Starline's plans. Starline realizes that Eggman has no respect for his contribution; but Eggman is still the one who in inspired Starline to become a villain in the first place. As such, he's set out to accomplish the Sisyphean goal of winning Eggman's respect.
So its time for another mini series the last one was the best thing of the IDW Sonic Comic up until now so lets see if this one stacks up. Before I continue are there just 3 problems I have with this Comic that all spawn from the same source than being the Metal Virus Arc. 1)Why is there even such a well operating Eggman base as Sigma? I mean's wasn't Eggman just complaining because the Zombots under Zeti control trashed most of his bases leading him to have to settle for some smaller base with just enough resources to build 1 more super robot. Never mind that with such baes still around is there really no excuse for Tails mopping about the lost of the cure when there are multiple easy to defend Eggman bases that were seemingly untouched by the Virus attack still around (even if this contradicts the time the Metal Virus arc said Angle island was the last save place and also open the questions why there ripped the aircraft apart at all when there could have just use the Warp Topaz to get to such an Base that the Zeti seemingly didn't care for and get all resources there could ever need while also sending Zavok on a wild Goose chase for them leading to him going for Angle Island far latter) 2)Why is the Prison in such a prestige state when not to long ago Zombie Robots destroyed everything. Does this mean this Prison was a save haven all along or what. And continuing with problems with the Prison why is it so good filled given that if it was attacked all prisoners' would have been lose all over the world as there were wondering around as Zombots which means it properly really wasn't attacked and despite having trained solders with non lethal weapons didn't help during the Metal Virus crisis at all. It also means that during the global crisis was Mimic actually transported from Tails Workshop to this Prison. 3)How exactly did Rough and Tumble get beaten at Barakat town? I mean when we saw the place the last time in issue 23 was it completely and utterly destroyed by the Zombots and as we see in this issue (as all as in the first annual issue)can the 2 easily take out a few Wispon users (in this issue are the ones that beat even trained rather than just enlisted civilians') Wow impressive how many problems this damn Metal Virus arc causes after it is already over Now for the issue in question. The beginning is really just a bunch of monologues to get the reader up to speed with Starlin's current goals and as general setup for the next few issues. Nothing really bad beside the already named. The Prison on the other hand has quite a few issues reaching form that non one told any of them apparently about Eggman's former underline that for all there know was responsible to turn Tinker back into Eggman and nearly killed Sonic and Silver ones, that the high security section apparently has no Cameras or personal at all to allow Starline to have a conservation without the need to fight a lot all the way to the already mentioned above. At this point I am not sure if all the problems the prison has are narrative conveniences to allow all Characters to show off there skills , have them meet in one place and to have Starlin recruit them or if Ian just subtly wants to tell us that like back in the Archie days the Government of the furry is just horribly brocken and can't get anything down right (if we add the fact that in the last few world revolving events apparently Amy and Knuckles needed to become leaders as no one else did am I really not sure if this really isn't the implication I am suppose to get here) Towards the Recruitment it self the Skunk brothers one is alright as there are mend to be stupid, I am not a fan of Mimic's (as him super early dropping the act of pretending to be the real warden after Starline arrived being not weird enough) as just being deleted out of Eggman's data bases to get off the huck with him while participating in something that will make him even angry (while Eggman also having memories and recoding's about him out side the Eggnet obviously and be it just Or- and Cubot) all because he is afraid of his vengeance doesn't really make a lot of sense. And Zavok well...how to say it... Okay I can't believe I am writing this but Zavok was properly the best written Character in here beside maybe Starlin. He immediately looked through Starlines tricks but decided he can turn things about and turn Starline from the manipulator into the manipulated one and so have him help to destroy him self while getting him closer to his revenge against Eggman and reuniting with his allice. He was shown as a real leader and commander testing out the abilities of his new Servants, causing Chaos which he loves while at the same time using it to get closer to his higher overarching goals and as already said looking right through the intents of those around him. He even shows a few there character traits here like thinking of Zeti as a superiors species or how lowly he things of Eggman and Starline for underestimating him or him caring enough about the other Zeti to want to reunite with them its almost like he is a Character now and not just a Bowser cut-out. The only bad parts about Zavok in here are that his apparently can't open the gates of the others from the inside of his cells while latter disabling Wispons on a much wider range (but this could also be just Zavok being causes and lying to insure he is let out first so that no one can just let him behind so this one is pretty easy to excuse and see as another positive) and the other one being that the Cell can even hold him given how strong he is suppose to be (especially given the feats Zommon has going for him who is suppose to be weaker than him) The only real complain I have left is that I don't like Starlines Hypnoray as this kind of powers usually end up as deus ex machinas and because I fear with the whole "your will would be to strong for it" line will lead to wirter(s) constantly making anyone but Sonic, Eggman and I guess Zavok weak-minded for it to work as the get out of jail free card even with Characters that are suppose to be able to resist this kinds of things (I especially fear for Shadow (because Sonic VS Shadow fights) and Cream (because despite her stubbornness in her convigtions and the fact that Chronicles just flat-out showed that she is immune to mind control will writer just say she is a child so its okay and than use her as a meet shield to allow Starline to escape) But otherwise its still better than 80% of the Metal Virus story so far, has some great character writing and a pretty interesting Permiss with so far already 2 lingering threats (Starlines super weapons and Zavok reuniting with the other ZetI) So a flawed but still pretty decent start into the arc.
1) well you see, this isn't actually an eggman base, it belongs to sigma from the megaman X series, and the warp topaz accidentally brought it here when sonic was using it, and eggman's computers mistook it as belonging to eggman, so the robots came in to guard it and spray-painted eggman's logo everywhere, that is _totally_ the real explanation and it's _perfectly_ reasonable, yup, definitely. 2) i mean, i wouldn't call it a safe haven exactly, it's a place chock full of criminals, not exactly the place where you'd put helpless innocent civilians, and if it _is_ chock full of prisoners, then there most likely wouldn't even be room for the civilians, unless you just wanna toss out the inmates to get assimilated by the zombots and thus give the zetis _more_ minions. well, if the prisoners _did_ escape the prison and got zombofied, they won't be _that_ hard to track down, i mean they're all wearing orange jumpsuits after all, in a franchise where all the male characters don't even wear pants no less, tracking them down shouldn't be _that_ difficult. "It also means that during the global crisis was Mimic actually transported from Tails Workshop to this Prison." i mean, it's possible eclipse got the prison around the same time as zavok, for all we know he might have been transported _immediately_ after getting caged, so before the zombot outbreak. 3) i mean, they're morons, i don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to trap and beat them up somehow. "that the Cell can even hold him given how strong he is suppose to be" the cell bars and concrete around it are made of nintendium. i mean, cream is the only character other than charmy who _actually_ acts like a child instead of a 14/16 year old pretending to be 12 or 8, so i won't have too much of an issue with that, but yea, hopefully it won't be a dumb deus ex machina. also with this scene at 4:30 i'm instantly thinking. starline: "these credentials will do fine." warden: "no, they won't." starline: "these credentials _will_ do fine." warden: "no! they wont-a!" "Starlines super weapons" i wonder if one those super weapons is the hooded figure we see at the end of issue 33.

Because every damn Time Megaman X makes a Crossover with just about anyone is cancellation just around the corner. 2)I mean most criminals aren't psychopaths but more so one timer murders, thief's or otherwise law breakers so most of them would properly be of no threat when the far bigger issue of the Zombie Apokalypse is right outside the door and as prisons are fortified anyway to prevent outbreaks would there also make them self great to defend them from outside threats as there wouldn't just be able to break in. Yes because the Criminals couldn't just take the jumpsuits off and because what ever law enforcement there would be able to cobble together wouldn't be completely overworked already by all the other stuff there have to do (just look how much the Chaotix a privat detective group is flooded with request right now just imagine what it would look like in a police office right now. Just a quick reminder on the timeline for you the same night Tangle visited Tails and Sonic after the infection of Sonic which happened before the Tangle and Wisper Mini series was the day Eggman attacked Windmill village, the day before Sunset City was attacked and 2 days before Flower village was attacked. The Tangle and Wisper Mini series it self takes place over 3 days it self already (the beginning, the fight at the old Eggman base and finally the day in which there beat Mimic. (and this doesn't even count the unknown amount of time between Tangles Visite to Tails to the start of her mini and the time from the capture of Mimic to the delivery to Tails) meaning by the time Mimic was at Tails Workshop did at least 2 villages and 1 major city fall. And it was properly more than just this as the Zombots were roaming around and as seen in the Radio story of the second Annual were taking down even more cities off screen. 3) I mean yes there make Cubot seam smart by comparison but still there were super strong and as seen in issue 23 was the town there attacked completely destroyed by the Zombot's with no Wispons in sight. I mean even without the Wispons did there give Sonic and Knuckles kind of a fight and here do there trash trained professionals like its nothing that has to count for something. I mean sure Starlin is pretty new but so are there Skunk Bros. and there didn't almost kill the Hero of the world and were apparently responsable for the return of Eggman. And information would perhaps be a point of it wasn't for the fact .that the entire leadership of the Restauration was informed about him As for the cameras I mean Mimic's whole stick would have been for nothing if the security team would have been able to tell anyone that the real Warden was knocked out by Starlin (also speech activation when one of there prisoners' can perfectly mimic voices and the other one has supreme power over electromagnetic fields not the best Idea but it was properly build before the 2 were known criminals so I let that one slight) Also this lack of monitoring allowed Starlin to just hypnotize his way past all guards so there would be that. Hard to say but personally do I thing its most likely not the case as these 2 stories are written by 2 different writers and I don't think the 2 planed that far ahead together.
