To give Eggman credit, he doesn't just rely on his mech's weapons, but actually takes several shots at the heroes with a personal handgun. Plus, *he* *very* *nearly* *wins* before Sonic returns.

The Good: Vanilla being given something to do in the story for once other than being helpless, Tails and Rouge teaming up, Tangle and Tails interaction, Amy have introspection, I guess shadow reflecting upon things (however awkward that was), and Omega unloading onto Eggman's mech. The Bad: Amy choking on what to do with Eggman when he appeared. A lot of the battle with Eggman's mech being omitted, leaving out Vector, Amy, Tangle, and Whisper any real scenes combatting him. Basically Sonic ends up appearing to save everyone. As cool as the Omega weapons barrage was he was just venting. lol The Ugly: Even though I liked the action, I found Eggman appearing again before all of Sonic and friends much too soon. Again, the doctor rushes his plans when we know a video game Eggman actually goes off the grid quite a while before going through with a new scheme. A longer breather from the mad doctor would've been appreciated. Not to mention showing his face so soon after all the destruction he caused with his bio weapon. Sonic's amnesia being cured with no real pay-off. Just one or 2 pages and it is back. Edit: Oh nobody really having anything to say to Eggman after he escaped or nobody out to "end" him. Most notably Espio and Whisper who were particularly blood thirsty. It all seems like normal when at least one person could've said they were gonna put him into a prison cell. Oh, and of course Sonic of all people just let him go. Ugh... Back to status quo...

Of course, we know Sega won't (and more than likely can't at this point) let that happen; still, is a thorough bodily beating to much to ask? Oh well, I'm at least glad he got humiliated by Froggy, conked by Cheese, and horrified by Sonic's return.
My sonic IDW OC also ends up M.I.A after an big battle but he’s presumed dead, giving no hints that he’s alive, leaving people to only hope that he lives for MANY issues, it even maybe takes a year or two before Sonic and gang come across an illegal battle arena where people (often being forced) fight robots or weird monsters. He is one of them.
I pretty much agree with what you already mentioned. I feel like they could have milked the whole amnesia thing for a few pages. Sonic’s friends clearly showed they could handle themselves without Sonic. I am hoping for more Mr.Needlemouse side stories later on. Also, I’m happy for Evan Stanley being main co-head writer. I like her work on her fan-comic.
Screwups on the release aside, this was a good issue, especially with Vector taking charge. I will say this though, The mech is pretty nice considering it was really loaded for bear. But, the reality of the mech being destroyed was bound to happen. Eggman will never truly pay for the crimes he's committed, which is unfortunate. The cycle will repeat again and again for as long as comics allow. We will need new irredeemable rogues to fleah out the roster since doing the same song and dance gets boring overtime. Makes you wonder if Eggman literally has nothing else to do. Well, to see Sonic get his memory back so quickly is a tad dissapointing. I did think it was rushed in several ways, but I understand why it was done that way. Some people are upset that we never saw Marine, but if I may, I feel that maybe we will see her someday, just not today. I honestly was impressed Eggman pulled out the stops and actually came prepared with his own personal weapon, and just armed with some giant mech or nigh-infinite army. But, still disheartening to see something like that get thrown into the junkyard when it could've served a better purpose. Like Sonic, I do hope to See Blaze or Silver return in some form and not be part of some sort of cataclysmic issue. But, i think that is all we will see of them for now. Jewel taking on the leadership and administrative role is something she will have to get used to. It can be seen a window of opportunity to have Jewel grow overtime. She wouldn't have to put up with people like the Babylon Rogues going forward. But we shall see. While I know Ian Flynn will return someday to the main books, i will miss the way he incorporated his love for the Sonic community. I have faith that Evan Stanley will do a great job. I am also looking forward to the collaborative efforts between the two of them. TL; DR: A satisfying conclusion to one of the longest Sagas in the comic this far. I look forward to the spinoff and what Evan can do for the main comic.
Nice to hear him review and approve of Vector's leadership.. On the other hand, I feel sorry for Jewel being a new leader with no combat and strategic battle skills.

Glad the Metal Virus saga is over. I'm really super excited about issues 33 and 34. A new character has been revealed and its something I've been wanting to see in the Sonic series for a very long time.
I feel like the whole plot of Sonic losing his memories, if they knew it wasn’t going to be cut short then they should’ve just cut it. That way the fans aren’t diss appointed and the time of Sonic being Mr Needlemouse could’ve been given to other characters
(This is what I posted in the Google play review-section of #32) When I read #31, I thought for sure that this would be some kind of a ‘’amnesia-arc’’ for Sonic. Blaze would try to restore Sonic’s memories back...but it didn’t work correctly, it only worked a little bit, but in order for Sonic to remember everything, he has to go back home and fill in the pieces himself, and then Sonic would, like 12 issues later, remember everything. ...Sadly, IDW passed this opportunity by with Sonic getting his memories back with #32 ...so it goes. FINAL SCORE: I give this issue, as well as this entire two-parters as a whole, a 3/5. See you all in the next review-section.

huh so we're getting a 30th anniversary encyclopedia cool :3(times ticking somecalljohnny you better have that south island hystoria published soon.lol) i think it was a great finale and i loved ian flynn's time as writer(i hope he works on the games at some point just with less limitations and writing shadow better as he shows sonic the love he deserves.) and i liked a lot of moments in it like rouge protecting the jewels from the babylon rouges(the comics actually made me like rouge compared to the games.),seeing more of the sol emeralds power and blaze's interaction with sonic showing how much he changed her(especially her smug look,really want to see her and cream meet again.), omega finally getting revenge on eggman, sonic starting to tire of fighting eggman,vector taking charge(to be fair to jewel charmy's still pretty dumb,amy didn't tell her about fighting which she wasn't a person of and cream isn't fully as strong as the others still being young.) and everyone taking eggman on competently instead of sonic getting the only meaningful hits.(seriously take notes from this specifically for your 30th anniversary game sega.) i would really love for the next arc(major or mini special after the next few issues) to be a sega 60th anniversary celebration(maybe starline on his own finds the warp topaz and opens portals to other sega ip's like alex kidd,nights,bayonetta especially,persona 5,sakura wars,samba de amigo,billy hatcher,clockwork knight,vectorman,sega hard girls,hatsune miku,super monkey ball,golden axe,skies of arcadia,jet set radio,virtua fighter,shenmue,yakuza,dinosaur king,puyo puyo,guardian heroes,fantasy zone,rhythm thief,catherine,streets of rage,panzer dragoon,monster world,gunstar heroes and space channel 5 with a pan being made using the worlds.:3)
If it was short, maybe they are preparing an annual that will show us things that we have not seen like the other two annuals that were very good. Time for evan stan. Nice to know an artist known for derailing characters personalities, realationship, and shipping drama gets a chance to completely screw up the comic for the rest of our lives. It going to be great watching another silver story but this time she get tp satellite the whole cast around him. Yay.
I get why you fear for something like this to happen (especially after the the Editors on the book seemingly not caring at all about it if the many writing, artistic and even a few lettering errors in the last Story arc were any indication) But so far at least do non of the issues of the up coming story mention Silver at all so perhaps you can now at least have some hope for the next story to not be the journey into the Silver verse.
So Ian's been writing Sonic comics for about 15 years. I've been playing the Sonic games since 1991, imagine how old I feel. You're right in that during days of Archie Sonic, there were a lot of disputes and conflicts among the comics writers, artists and the editor, and that led to a lot of problems and divisions among the Sonic fans also. And Ken Penders' lawsuits only made matters worse for both comic writers and game developers from SEGA of America, BoiWare and Archie Comics. Sonic Team and SEGA however won't allow for a repeat of history with IDW Sonic as the comics must maintain the status quo loyal and canon to the Sonic video games and Ian Flynn did say that there are guidelines from SEGA (Sonic Team) that they have to adhere to. On another note, seeing Sonic smile so brightly with all of his teeth out while holding Amy was a first in any Sonic media. Sure he smiled and grinned and smirked in the past, but the smile he gave for Amy after she hugged him was one Sonic never gave to anyone before, not even to Tails. I'm not saying Sonic and Amy will become a couple, though I wish they would, but clearly Sonamy is the shipping that IDW Sonic is promoting and advertising as the comic series canonically follows Sonamy from the video games. With Evan Stanley now in the driver seat, she stated that she will focus more on world building during her run as head writer and Ian Flynn will return to reclaim his role as head writer in the future after Evan Stanley's time as head writer is done.
I am low key pissed off Sonic didn't hit Eggman's Egg o Matic during their talk. Eggman deserved it and I know Sonic wants to after the crap that happen. I mean Sonic attacked a defeated Eggman back at Sonic 1, and it was super early on their rivalry. Its sad that this Sonic is just so passive now. I was hoping I'd see something interesting in IDW Sonic after making my video on multiple Sonic's, but I doubt he'd even reach my Top 5, even when I saw something in him during the Zombot arc. But I feel this issue squandered it. Also what the hell Amy? Just because you retired being a leader, doesn't mean you lose the ability to think or fight Eggman! I'd understand if she stutters or hesitates due to the stress overcoming her, (be a lot more understanding than Tails during Forces) but her just switching the pressure on Jewel like that? Is this a joke?!
First off, I believe it's officially called the Eggmobile. Second, I think Amy was having a Meltdown over Eggman's attack, even if it wasn't made perfectly clear.

Also, Amy doesn't really know Jewel all that well, so I don't think it's unreasonable for her to have expected moderate courage from her. Lay off a little; Amy's suffered enough from suppressing her own character as it is.

And yes, I would believe Amy being a wreck if she had to deal with Sonic disappearing again, but there could have been better ways to show Amy's stress rather than forcing Eggman problems to a girl who does paper work and nothing else. Lucky Vector was there, otherwise Amy would have doomed everyone. And its not just because she wasn't able to lead, but I feel its how cowardly and out of character she was. Like I said, she tried to speak, but her fear overwhelmed her. Boom, simple. If they want us to believe Amy was going through a tough time, they should show us and not just have her hide behind a tiny beetle. (Not literally, its metaphorical) One thing I can give this was Amy's reaction to Sonic returning was pretty wholesome for me since I know Amy would just break down and just jump on Sonic excited like old times. (We never saw that on Sonic Forces by the way) Which is weird since the idea of her trying and failing to muster up the courage to lead again would have made that reunion a lot more wholesome. Even if Amy is a hero on her own right, she always put Sonic on high regard he'll always be her hero. Which could devolve Amy a bit, but hey, this could be set up for a future story arc for her. But for now, Amy has been through a lot, and just seeing Sonic alright again would be enough for her to be at ease.

Is it any good? I've seen some Sonic the Comic Online and I know THAT'S good, but I'm reluctant to try out Archie Online, as I fear they may not capture the best aspects of the later Archie run.
@@johnathonturner2279 well, it's doing two parts. It continues the pre-reboot storylines and gave the Mecha Sally arc a proper ending. But it also has to post reboot storyline, but it only has one issue out. The pre-reboot issues are a definite must if u wanna see how things went before Ken Penders ruined everything
I recently found out that there is actually no guidelines for the Comics. Ian Flynn credit those himself to set guidelines for the comic that didn’t get as much freedom as the Archie run did. I am so happy that Evan Stanley is taking the reins

So after the previous not terrible issue do we go right back into the Negative Zone of abysmal writing. So lets start this time with the 2 things that annoy me personally the most and than go over about the rest of them First of all the horrible copy past job from the Sonic OVA. What I mean with it is the way Tails hacks into the Robot, weaken and stops its movement only for Eggman to interrupt him with a GUN shot is taken right out of there and its redone in an terrible way. While in the OVA Tails had to examine Eggman's own device to use it to hack into Metal does Tails here just intuits how Eggman's Robot is properly going to work to make the Gemerl eject program despite all of this largely only happening because Tails couldn't quickly rebuild Omega because Eggman's technology was to weird to easily revers engineer but inspire of this weirdness that prevented him than does he now write an eject program before he even got to see as the Robots program in the first place. Than does pretty much everything relating to Omega here makes no sense as there seam's to be no reason why Eggman build him in, gave him any control or bothered to rebuild his whole body as it didn't serve any purpose for his Robot at all because making things easier for the Heroes. Than is there also the fact that Eggman just so happen to have a access panel easily accessible on the outside with ports that Tails has casually installed in his miles electrics as if he was asking to get hacked by Tails (also super duper nitpick why the hell does Eggman have USB 2 ports and a goddamn Parallele port installed these things are ancient and Tails even decided to use the super slow Parallel port instead of the the 100X fast USB " Port what's wrong with the geniuses in this Comic) And my other personal most annoy aspect being everything about Sonic in this issue. First of all the Amnesia was completely pointless it was truly unneeded. Seriously why would you throw such an element in here when it you were to resolve it immediately OR RIGHT FOR THE REASON BLAZE IS HERE ISN'T IT AND THAT BEING TO HAVE STUPID ARTIFFICAL "HOCKS" TO MAKE YOU BY THE ISSUE AND THE NEXT TO SEE HOW IT GOES ISN'T IT AHHHHH!! And beside this cooperate and artificial punch against good writing lets go to how Sonic just kill stieals its the same shit as Forces all over again we have most of the main cast here and can barley push Eggman back only for Sonic to arrive and end the threat in a single Attack Omega getting the final hit against a now anyway worth and powerless Robot doesn't change a damn thing about it same goes for the "damage" the other heroes caused before as it was really only cosmetic as Eggman still had his full firepower when Sonic arrived and was bragging how he is now going series and ends it all. How ever only because these 2 annoyed me especially much doesn't this mean the rest if a okay quite the opposide actually. So lets start with the obvious that being Amy. Listen Amy literally stopped being a leader for 5 minutes and already can't order anything anymore what the hell its even worse given that ordering attacks against Eggman is something she does since Heroes its just an super blatantly obviously artificial way to completely remove all of the Sally traits the first arc worte into her to make her work as the Sally stand in the Metal Virus Arc as it was originally written with Sally in mind presumably to give Evan a clear slate or something its regardless of reason still makes no sense at all. Than lets talk about Gemerl here for a second who was taken out in the most ridicules and unspectacular way imaginable as not only Eggman hastily cobbled this Robot together to get a counter attack in before Sonic is back but still was able to install a perfectly functional Gizoid absorption system despite an unknown about of changes Tails has done to him since advance 3, him being super strong, super durable (in theroy), super fast and equipped with long range attacks such as a Rocked launcher. Than lets talk about Eggman after the fight here or rather how he should be no more. Listen after the last damn arc (and after the war in forces as well) is there no excuse left to just let Eggman bugger off like this were is Espio with a ninja star aimed right at his head or Wisper getting in a head shot as both made it in the previous arc pretty damn clear that there want to see Eggman dead heck even Amy's first Impuls after seeing Eggman on Angle island was to Murder Death Kill him so there is NO and I mean NO! reason why our Heroes after the Robot did go kaboom didn't just his stupid little egg Mobile to behead him, torture him or at least throw him into the darkest most inhuman jail that exist and throw the keys away. I prophesied from the Start that this would happen but actually seeing it being as blatent as my jokes about it before is just Sad and inexcusable bad. Also to stay on Topic of Eggman for a little while Longer given his goal in getting a decisive victory in before Sonic's return why didn't he bring metal with him last time we saw him was he fully obedient, one shot Gemerl and was able to hold of Shadow. So if Metal would have been here would he have won. So is there anything more I could bitch about this issue well remember when I said the first 2 things annoyed me the most yes well gets surprised because that was a Lie as as much as there got on my nerve its nothing compared to: PULLING THE SAME BIG IS DISTRACKED BY LOOKING FOR FROGGY GAG THAT WAS ALRADY HORRIBLE AND OUT OF CHARACTER FROM THE SECOND ANNUAL AGAIN!!! SERIOUSLY IAN EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE HERE THAT BIG WOULDN'T HELP CREAM AND AMY HIS FIRENDS THAT HELPED HIM FIND FROGGY BACK IN HEROES NOW WERE THERE ARE IN A LIVE OR DEAD SITUATION AGAINST EGGMAN! FROOGY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF BIG'S AFOUL BEHAVIOUR HERE SERIOUSLY COULD WE PLEASE ACTUALLY WRITE BIG AS BIG AND NOT LIKE THE JOKE VERSION ARRON WEBBER MADE UP FOR THE TWITTER ACCOUNT! Sorry for the Big the Cat rant but damn seeing Big in the background screaming Froggy while Amy and Cream get toasted was Forces Tails character assassination on Big. So beside the fluff as to why the Rogues don't help was this pretty much the whole issue and as such do I confidently say that this issue was a terrible mess and despite the low bare of this arc managed to be one of the worst issues of the Zombot arc. I hope things will improve now with a chaing in writer but damn this entire arc was just terrible and we ended it off on one of the worst parts of it what an utter disaster this all was.
honestly, tails hacking into the robot easily doesn't bother me, i'm already numb to "hacking" in fictional media being so braindead easy that it might as well not exist. as for why omega is on the chest of the robot, honestly? i don't mind this, think about it, eggman is essentially holding omega hostage, which (in theory at least) would keep the heroes from executing frontal attacks or even heavy attacks that might damage omega, which by itself is a great idea, it just didn't work due to the stupid port hatch thing. as for why he didn't reprogrammed omega, from what i read, and what i see here, he did, it's just that omega's old programming got back online, probably due to tails but the comic _Really_ doesn't do a good job of conveying that if that's the case. as for why omega's body was rebuilt, maybe if the reprogramming stuck around, eggman would've used omega against sonic's friends as a back up plan in case the mech was destroyed. as for the ports, A) lack of resources, or more importantly. B) the artists just took some artistic license here and you're overthinking things, it's not like the port here is stated to be weaker, which means it's not supposed to be the one from real life. it really was unnecessary huh? like, if they wanted blaze, just put in blaze, what's the point of amnesia? i really think you're discrediting the other characters, all sonic did was pull omega out of the the chassis, the real damage was done by everyone else, and i think saying the damage was "cosmetic" is being a bit unfair, yes the mech's weaponry is intact, but the damage done to the armor is still damage. maybe amy's strategic mind is actually a superpower and we're running on spider-man 2 logic, where all the stress got to her and now she can't think, whereas in heroes she was still perfectly happy and relaxed. @@alimowla3204 Us see usually would I also just go with it with things like Tails hacking but there are a few additional factors that made it very bad in this situation these being: A)its clearly an homage to Tails hacking Metal in the OVA only that in the OVA this was setup far better B)Tails excuse 10 issues or so ago for not already fixing Omega was that Eggman's technology is weird and unintuitive and yet does he here just intuitive a eject code like Eggman had the most orderly system ever. And C)Even the games show hacking Eggman as much harder as just to download a few text files back in Shadow's game did Espio and Shadow had to fight there way throw 4 towers as all files were fragmented and even as recent as forces had we the Death Egg having an emergency overwrite code to undo Tails security shutdown code almost immediately. Given how everyone was going for full frontal attacks anyway did the Omega shield that fail pathetical (never mind that Eggman never even mentioned this) Listen he deactivated Omega's own personality but still let it in him AND gave Omega's body access to the Robots controls despite being designed as a ride machine. Why wouldn't he just delete Omega properly(and because Sega isn't a valid answer). reprogram him instead of just putting a basic program over his personality and why would he even than still design the Robot in a way in which Omega could gain access to any form of control? Listen the "Damage" the other Characters did here is pretty much the "damage" the Z warriors/Dragon team did to Nappa before Goku arrived to completely curve stomp him as in both cases the work of the others was rendered entirely pointless as it accomplished nothing but still for time until the Hero arrived and ended the threat in a single attack. (also you want to tell me that Sonic can that easily get a hardwired Omega out of the Robot but Vector, Amy or Cube Wisp Wisper couldn't?) But Vector is obviously perfectly fine after needed Vanilla last issue to deal with a few telephone calls. Metal's absents here is rather suspicious. Dude he is Big he is way to wholesome to be drunk. Ah yes people already going by the Bad ending theory of Sonic 2 8 bit (always forgetting how the good ending actually looks like) By the way to comment on my rant about Eggman surviving his attack?

"Given how everyone was going for full frontal attacks anyway did the Omega shield that fail pathetical (never mind that Eggman never even mentioned this)" i said this was a good idea "in theory". okay, yea, him giving omega the ability to control the robot himself is stupid. as for omega's personality not being deleted? i don't know, maybe you have input a password in order to gain access to omega's personality part and eggman just forgot the password. literally all sonic did was get between omega and the mech and got him out, he didn't go kaioken on the mech and homing attack to small pieces. and as for how sonic got omega out, maybe the characters' attacks loosened him up enough for sonic to get him out (though if this is not the case then fine). well you see, vector got into a much better mood after seeing vanilla, amy had no such thing. PERHAPS HE'S WORKING WITH STARLINE!/s. too much wholesomeness makes you drunk. my favorite joke about this is bad ending: tails dies. good ending: they both die. couldn't think of a logical or jokey reason for why he's at least not in prison.
@@rynobehnke8289 Okay, I'm not going to say much, but really; how many people reading this do you actually think watched the Sonic OVA? And for those that have, how many do you think remember it for anything more than the beach scene? Also, and I don't want to sound rude, but I really think you're being to meticulous for your own good. Seriously, you keep pulling out twice as many reasons to dislike than what I expect; it makes my brain hurt just looking at it! I mean, I agree about Sonic's amnesia; we're all pretty unanimous about that; but still!
@@videogollumer Haven't gotten a comment from you in quite a while but I also like a good debate so let me quickly answer your comment. I am pretty sure that most people that do remember the OVA will thing first and foremost about "You may know what I'm going to do but that's not going to help you since I know what you are about to do strange isn't it" and "SHUT UP TAILS" second. But my point was more so that Ian was clearly referencing the OVA here and where the OVA put quite a bit of legwork into explaining why Tails could hack Metal (preparations, using Eggman's device against him knowing that Metal's thoughts are based on Sonic's) While here we have Tails write the code before even hocking up to the Robot with no information on how it works a few issues after he commented how weird and hard to reverse engineer Eggman's tech like Omega who is a part of all of this is to him. And so the reference to the OVA just highlighted to me even more how lazy/brocken this plot points exaction was here. I know I am really in depth and seam to point out micro issues sometimes that aren't going to bother the majority of readers. But I mostly do this because all of these small problems together with the few big ones just add up and so to properly explain why I thing this is badly written can't I just point to 1 big problem because often its just many many few that added up to on big one to my enjoyment. And I thing its also worth noting that it also annoys me how often these problems could with a simply redraft been fixed without doing any major changes. (for example Bring Metal Sonic on the battle field to deal with Gemerl instand of having some deus ex machina Gizoid trap or have the Heroes just beat the large Robot and than have to fight mind controlled Omega but being worn-out from the fight meaning that accomplished something while still giving Sonic his big Hero moment when he get a big attack on Omega in that sets his mind straight again and maybe give than Omega the knockout against Metal Sonic or something to let him keep his one attack or just having Eggman use one of the flash bangs from SA1 for his escape to make our heroes not look bad for letting him go) And that many other problems could have been solved with a throwaway line (like have Eggman say that the real Omega is still in him because he is sure that some will have reservations against destroying an allay) I hope that helps at least a bit to explain why I am naming really every issue I encounter in the story even the seemingly not note worthy ones.
