When I first read this issue, I got major SatAM vibes. Sonic, Tails, & Belle where sneaking through Eggperial City trying to avoid being dected by Eggman's Badniks. Also, Sonic stand on a pole being himself before Eggman tells some of his Bandiks to tear down the building could be a refernce to Sonic X when Sonic was standing a the top of a tree (Sonic Moive 2 did a similar thing but with Sonic wanting to know Dr. Robotnik's goals). Overall, pretty good issue.
When I read the "big oof" phrase, I was thinking along the lines of a sincere "Good grief, that's terrible". I was surprised others interpreted it as "Yeah, sure, whatever". Great review as all ways Megabeatman.
I think I have an idea of how Starline "might" make a return later on, back during the metal virus saga/arc Eggman showed off his man-cave to Starline in "Eggman's day off". In it there were toy models of different characters one of which was a toy Mecha/Metal Starline, anyway once the Egg city arc warps up and the Badniks find what remains of Starline while cleaning up, Eggman could remake/rebuild Starline turning him a Badnik similar to Metal Sonic. Although perhaps one more focused on engineering then combat since Belle turned down Eggman's offer.
There’s a robot in crowd when the shuttle crashes that I swear looks like the standard egg pawn from Sonic 06, the silver gunner I think it’s called. Yeeeeeaaaah didn’t expect to see those come back but still neat non the less.
What about the data Belle got from Metal? She can basically find out what Sonic and Tails did regarding the loss of her dad without even talking to them, because Metal Sonic is the only one who knows the WHOLE story.
I remember seeing at one point that the final boss from Sonic 3 & Knuckles were called the Egg Missile and Egg Bomber. Can't remember where I think it was Sonic Retro a long time ago.
Yeah, that last part about Eggman letting Belle go was my immediate reaction to that scene. I guess that tarot card Amy drew for her might come to fruition...
Yeah, repairing Metal Sonic was just stupid of Belle. I mean; look where it got her, Sonic, and Tails! I'm a little surprised that I'm still able to feel bad for her when Sonic threw her. Then again; that might be because Sonic made the same dumb decision, it had far worse consequences, and Sonic still regrets nothing. So, he's kinda already set the bar of stupidity a little too high for Belle to compete in the first place -_-

Issues like this always set up the heroes for an AWESOME escape. I could come up with countless ideas for what could happen next, but man am I liking it. Maybe Kit will fight off the badniks and be captured by Eggman himself or give some kind of benefit from Tails saving him.
Huh, hehehe, interesting, how very interesting, this Arc has become so much more interesting lately, honestly I didn’t think i would ever see day where a Official Sonic Media would ever portray Ivo as a legitimate threatening and competent Antagonist as he deserves to be, it just makes me look forward to the future Issues even more. Can’t wait for your next review.

God fricking Damnit! Now Eggman is gonna use Belle against her friends and the restoration and attack them and Belle will blame herself for everyone suffering and run away so no one will get hurt by EGGMAN because of her. The these writers just won't give her any peace or happiness. It's only gonna be more suffering.

@@beckthetinkerbot Honestly, it was just Ian writing that stuff; but I think that's kind of his thing. He exceeds at writing the heroes' being put through brutal situations, which is evident by the fact he likes to write Eggman as horrifically evil; though, he still manages to keep his charm. He also seems to like to write Sonic as a bit of an idiot. This comic is not the first time either. Honestly, though I've been ranting about it for quiet a while, I'm willing to be okay with it if it actually goes somewhere, like house of cards. It's just that it's been taking a while, and my patience grows thin.
@@videogollumerLook man to be honest I really don't give a damn about these writers. I don't like like the things they do with the characters. That's why I hate Sonic Prime too. That show is a mess and I'll never understand why everyone thinks it's so great.
I like the new artist. The story itself just felt like a waste of time being anything more than this issue. Plot convience on sonic's stamina all of a sudden was annoying. Like you think nobody would notice nonsense like that, writer? Maybe if you made surge a real challenge in 50 and sonic took actually damage I'd believe it.
This issue here doesn't progress the story a lot but I do still have a few things to say about it. the bad: So lets start with the most minor of nitpics. Why use the Doomsday zone boss for the shuttle. Like its literally the only one that Eggman has that has some feats about being able to sustain a lot of damage. Metal just one shooting it would have made more sense with pretty much every other on of Eggman's shuttles. Eggman also appears to now be a wizard being able to fully fix Metal Sonic in a matter of minutes like that AND regaining full control over the city and all of his badniks sure required some magic. So now for something a bit more serious. Sonic's "Big oof" it appears that even Megabeatman here didn't got what most people dislike about it. And that is Sonic's lack of empathy towards Belle. As Belle was as seen in the artwork a bit shaken up by seeing him die and Sonic both in the games (Tails and Cream in battle, Shara in Secret rings or even the rocky in Forces) as well in the comics it self (early on with Whisper) shown to keep his own thoughts and emotion back in favor of comforting the other character over there problem. So him not doing it for Belle here now is just kinda OoC with after Ian using Sonic as a soap box to tell the audience what he thinks Sonic should be like last issue hit many all the more. And staying with Sonic him self for just a moment longer so is the idea that "he is running out of stamina" really stupid given that he was running nearly nonstop for a week during the Metal Virus arc as well during the first 4 issues of the Comics them self were he without rest traveled to 4 different cities helped out a friend in there fight and was off again right afterwards. And don't even get me started on the games. And even Surge here should not be more exhausting than Zombot shadow was. And just in case you forgot Megabeatman Sonic had quite a bit of Free time between Zeti Hunt and issue 49 as Trail by fire was entirely handled by the girls and Tails and Belle starting there project to make all badniks as good as motorbud wouldn't start until that arc ether. And trail by fire it self happened at least a few days after Zeti hunt as the entire restaurateur leadership certainly couldn't just take a few vacation days right after the Zeti attack which is further supported by Whisper leaving between these 2 stories and its implied that was some time ago and it nagging Tangle ever since. Also given Sonic's track-record with falling from really really high locations is him actually injuring him self here kinda contrived as well. And finally just seeing what kind of Badniks Starline all had at his disposal in issue 50 makes that issue even worse. WHY DIDN'T HE USE ANY OF THEM AGAINST EGGMAN! Like sure a motorbug properly wouldn't do much but even the Egg Emperor couldn't just ignore a E-2000 especially given that according to this issue they can disintegrate motorbugs. The Positives: Nice to see that Ian finally remembered that Sonic can do more things in a fight than just turning into a ball The artwork was pretty nice. And Eggman and Sonic's banter was quite fun. The positives list seems so empty because its far quicker to praise than to explain why something is illogical.

"Eggman also appears to now be a wizard being able to fully fix Metal Sonic in a matter of minutes like that" okay, so, funny thing, i checked issue 50 again, and before entering the elevator, metal sonic has scratches and stuff on him, but after exiting the elevator and meeting eggman, he's clean, shiny and has no scratches, therefore, the elevator fixed metal sonic. "AND regaining full control over the city and all of his badniks sure required some magic." you're saying his 300 IQ isn't magic? i don't like the big oof line myself, but maybe you and other people are interpreting the line as being more indifferent than ian intended the line to sound? well you see..........the lack of air-conditioning is getting to him, he's just dehydrated/s. starline is a fake fan and didn't play heroes to realize there are other better badniks/s. the problem with positives in these comics is that most of the positives you can say about them apply to pretty much all of the issues, whereas specific issues and arcs have their own problems. that's at least how it feels to me.
@@alimowla3204 Listen man I already have to fight off people that claim Generations Sonic is as strong as Adventure Super Sonic just because all bosses in generations were chosen based on a popularity poll rather than out of actual logic. So please don't you start with that BS now as well. Sonic maybe loves to poch ideas from Dragonball bit its not Dragonball. So I guess that means Belle must have fixed him even more. Belle WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!? But if Eggman is so smart that he can just fix it why flee from Starline in the first place given that he clearly could have fixed it in no time? I guess its possible. Interpreting these things in text is always a bit hard. But I think at any rate its a bit to dismissive towards Belle. At least a short acknowledgement that its bad that she had to see this would have been enough for me. Great you actually manged to fix 2 plot holes but just saying Eggman's city is running way to hot lets just hope that Belle isn't catching fire than. But didn't Eggman's entire plan in using the Emperor hinge on Starline having played heroes to know that Team Blast counts Emperor? In large parts are you right with this. Things like the art work and the characters usually sounding at least somewhat in character are consistent but the issues are always new and need proper explanation. But even in this case where we get the actual improvement of Sonic having action scenes that aren't just jump balls all the time. What can I really say about this other than its good it doesn't look boring anymore and makes sense. Also 1 think I forgot to mention in my first comment. The comic current is really overdoing it with the foreshadowing that Eggman is gonna use Belle for his own goals between Amy's fortunetelling, Eggman's implication last issue and being even more on the nose with it this time.

"Sonic maybe loves to poch ideas from Dragonball bit its not Dragonball." if that were true we'd have good writing, we haven't had that in like 20 years. she wanted to make the artist's life easier. because he needed his computer, and he was surrounded, so going down the hole was the more pragmatic option. this is a scene that probably would've been better if sonic didn't say anything and we just see his expression, maybe. it's fine, she's not recommended for starting a campfire/s. well starline is still a fake fan who can't name all the badniks in heroes, he only knows the boss names. granted, i can't name the badniks either, but i also don't claim to associate with this franchise/s. I'm not opposed to the Characters getting a bit stronger over time as we do have many references to them training to become stronger but Generations and Forces (Sonic "I'm growing stronger with every second" line however are just way to overblown. Like Sonic in Advance 1 taking down the Sonic 1 and 2 bosses in half the hits is one thing. Sonic in base from beating a god with infinite negative energy is however WAY to much. Na Sonic just for ones got the jump on DB but doing what super did 5 years early./s Wait she is becoming self aware OH NO NOT MORE OF THIS CRAP/s He sat right in frönt of his PC tho and as we all know from Sonic Riders can Eggman pack more than just 1 punch. (also does he really have no notebook down in the basement? Absolutely saying nothing at all would have been a clear improvement over the "Big Oof" (but as we all know is Ian allergic against making characters shut up) Well than everything is just fine. 5:29: Sonic can survive falling from God knows how far in Adventure 1... and yet a piece of metal falling on his legs hurts it?! What are the rules relating to injuries in this franchise?
@@electromagneticpsychopath4973 Agreed, it's probably a sprain at worse. Normally, that WOULD break something; but Sonic's tough enough to be afforded some protection from from something like that.
i really hate that anti-idw crawd seems to find new things to throw tantrums over like with the 'big oof" bit like it it's some proof that the comic has always been bad.
