I am taking my IELTS computer based test on 16th Oct, the day after tomorrow. Whoever feels I am lucky to have gone through this writing Task 1 video, please hit the like button. Your video made me laugh so much that I am now stress free, the way you have explained the mistakes really made my day, I haven't come across such humor added to teaching and analysis anywhere before hahahahahahaha, really loved it keep it up and I think you are the REAL star among all the fake ones out there on RU-vid, I wish you all the best.....thanks and take care bye for now....
There is actually something called semi-formal. If you're asked to write a letter to your neighbour (who has just moved in next door) inviting them to a party you're throwing. In this case, it isn't quite formal, as they are not a building manager or your manager. But they are also not your friend exactly, as you don't really know them. This means this is actually semi-formal and things get tricky here. Correct me if I'm wrong.
This video is a great help! I've been struggling writing my letters and I get confused between formal, semi formal and informal language. Thanks for clearing it out Chris!

One thing to note in these letters. When the plane left without you. How can they remove your bag from the plane and escort you out of the airport. (Remove bag from the plane, did they remove before the plane take off?)

Hi Chris! This has been very helpful. I just have one question: If I am writing to a lecturer about why I missed the deadline, I know it is formal, but do I say Dear Mr. Thomas or do I say Dear Sir or Madam. The same question applies to a neighbour.
Hey chris, writing to a close teacher who knew at school, should that be a formal letter? And also all semi-formal letters are treated as formal in ILETS GT?
Hi Kishan, here's a video to help you with your query: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rk4BWIo0Hec.html. How appropriate would it be to use extreme regional slangs like footy if the examiner themselves isn't from the UK? I use footy as an example as that might only be used in the UK, not in any other English speaking nation. Someone from the US might not know what the hell it is, as their definition of football is totally different anyway. They call football 'soccer'. Shouldn't we just use common universal phrasal verbs and informal lingo rather than very regional slangs? Do you think an IELTS examiner from Sri Lanka would understand what a 'footy' is?
Doubt 1 : Don’t we have to write SUBJECTS for mail or letter ? Doubt 2 : If the nature of letter or email is thanking one do we have to write THANKING YOU down at footer as we do otherwise. Waiting for your response !!
Would it be okay to write a letter to my boss using contractions? (e.g. we are in friendly relationships and it would be awkward if I start talking formally to him).
Hi Chris. For the informal email, you made the same story about missing the flight for the meeting with your friend while on the note they didn't tel you about any missing flight or a plane ! Is it ok to add to the story something ?
Hi there, if the question asks you to write to a ‘friend’, it should be an informal letter. If the question asks you to write to anyone else, it should be a formal letter. If you have any questions or need our team to help you prepare for your IELTS exam, please feel free to contact us.

Hi Chris, Useful content! You make it easy always! Isn’t that point 2 on informal email should be about impact of missing meeting instead of about missing plane? Correct my understanding, if I am mistaken.
IELTS educators, please enlighten me here; your formal letters don't begin with a referendum. Does that mean that I also mustn't include that topic line before the introduction?
