I heard that there was a case in China that went viral a while ago when an injured old lady falsely accused a good samaritan of injuring her and he ended up jailed because of it, and so because of that, a lot of Chinese people tend to be afraid of helping strangers. Apparently it happens a lot and that sucks.
Esther Mitchell I’ve seen a case where a man (a random man on a beach, not a lifeguard) saved a girl from drowning in the ocean and she sued him for “injuring her further” and “not saving her fast enough” (apparently it was because she couldn’t afford the hospital bills) fortunately, she didn’t win the case, but the man who saved her went through the pain of hiring a lawyer and spending weeks being afraid of going to jail for no reason
@@bitch8205 The most viral case was the one where a young girl helped an old lady. She accused her of causing the injury and for a while the whole internet was cursing and cyberbullying her. Then the girl jumped off a building and killed herself and after that is when the police uncovered footage that exposed the truth. The old lady got sued but because she was old, her lawyer was actually the one that received the most hate which was ridiculous cause lawyers get assigne cases, it's not like he wanted it.
This situation is an example of why lots of by standers won’t get involved in these experiments. They’re doing this in a public place but what happens when you’re in an empty street, or it’s dark out? Who will the police believe? You, or the elderly? You then have to pay for insurance. You see it happen in the news and then you become weary of everything around you.
I would never have thought, that there are places were people would not help an elderly, who lies on the ground, because the elderly person could be a scammer...Maybe, because here everyone has health insurance and so there is no reason.
For those who do not understand - The old man is unconscious but when he wakes up, he accuses the lady of being the one that knocked him over. She denies it and says she found him like that. Passer bys tell him that there are CCTV or Surveillance Cameras nearby to check. One man valdiated/explained she did not knock him over and that she was just trying to help him.
Actually..this video is based on a true case in China. Some of the bad old auntys and uncles sit beside the road and waiting for younger people to care for them, then the older people accused the younger ones for knocking them down and asked them to give them money or else they will go report at the police station or the hospital
I am chinese, and i hate to say it, but thats actually what happened a lot of times in China, horrible people who take advantage of others kindness. Edit: These cases were largely discussed on Chinese social network and horrible cases happened where people actually needing help died meanwhile bunch of people watching his dying and no one helped. Since then, whenever someone help, he need to take a footage evidence to prove he's not the one who hurt the old one. Sad...
Sadly, it’s true. I’ve lived in China for many years and always had heard that advice given to foreigners by Chinese people: never help, especially if you’re foreigner, people will try to take advantage because they think that all foreigners are rich and it’s almost impossible to win against local people if they sue you. That’s sad. Idk, how would I feel if I saw someone unconscious and couldn’t help.
@@Diana-whathappenedin97 exactly im korean but i have lived in china for 2 years befor i moved to Canada and i think that kindness and love should be showed more to other people insted of hating them and judging them
When I was younger my Grandmother and I were leaving the grocery store and I see this man accidentally get up on a curb and tip his electric wheelchair over and I saw so many people walk past him like he wasn't even there until eventually a car pulled up and three men got out and helped him get back upright and called an ambulance. I asked my Grandma later on why people walked past him and she said because that man could've easily accused them of being the one who knocked him over and get them in trouble and that broke my heart to know people could be that cruel. Someone acts out of the kindness of their heart to help you be thankful.
thats why many people are afraid to help him bcos of being accuse so easily by the sick or whatever reasons scenario. . i don't blame people not helping.. the victim real or fake.. their words are very dangerous for people to be accuse of.. go think about it..
Just think : *they called the police and the ambulance and everyone is there to pick him!* *And the reaction of the police and hospital people would be priceless!* 😆 😳😳 Lol😅😂
The old man is unconscious but when he wakes up, he accuses the lady of being the one that knocked him over. Others tell him that there are CCTV or Surveillance Cameras to check. One man said that she came to help and never knocked him down.
*This scene just reminds me of Miracle In Cell No. 7. But the only difference is the guy on the said movie was freed by his daughter, Only when he died.*
I didn’t understand the concept at first, but then I remembered how in China, if someone knocks you over or like accidentally bump into you with their car or something, they have a legal obligation to pay your hospital bill for you straight away, so that’s why this guy is tryna take advantage of the girl by blaming her so she pays the hospital bill.
It’s reasons like these why I have social anxiety. I’ve never been part of social experiment but if I was there’s a chance I might not help not bc I’m rude but bc I don’t want to get embarrassed or taken advantage of
This has actually happened to me TWICE in my life in a Western country, walking behind an elderly when they suddenly stumbled and fell !! ....Although i immediately assisted in helping them up, i was petrified that i would suddenly be blamed for pushing them over and be totally defenceless !!
It scarier to get accused to someone who is so determined that it’s your fault, who actually just mistook but feel so sure about it and it’s so happened that there’s no witness or cameras nearby.
I am Chinese and I understand everything their saying and it’s really sad that people are actually like this. The people who helped in this video are true heroes!
It's kinda reasonable why so many people didn't help the girl. Because many times there's no proof to back up either side, and most people tend to take the side of the elderly as they're seen to be the disadvantaged side of the senerio. Another common thing they do is to jump on your car/bike so it's always good to have a camera handy to provide evidence. (also sometimes you can just scare them off with one even if it wasn't recording) However it is also because of this that people nowadays are afraid to help a stranger in need when they see one.
He was taking pictures because it's been a common case where elderly lie and sue people who were trying to help therefore the guy taking pictures or videos could save the girl from either being sued or arrested.
no shit what do u expect, taking pictures is the right thing to do 💀💀 the girl did nothing and got accused, and as a witness, he took pictures so he can help to prove the girl is innocent. smh, people like u need to use your brain sometimes
Saying that youngsters rarely help or help and need something in return, it breaks my heart because I'm young and I help whomever I see that needs help. And the satisfaction that I get is to see the person I helped grateful and safe. I don't need money, I don't even need a thank you, all I need is that person to be safe.
This is one of the reasons why a lot of people choose to be bystanders in real situations like these... most arent mean just because they chose to ignore but scamming is common nowadays
tbh you have to be really careful, because there are indeed people who will do this to kind people, who just want to help. It's actually really sad. That is why a lot of people do not help each other out in public.
Don’t do videos like that on the streets, *people will be afraid to help* next time they see someone that needs help. I was told by my parents to help old people: call an ambulance and then run away because if he is poor it could be a burden for his family, and then blame you for his accident and tell you to pay. So sad, but that’s life
These and different types of scams are so common in India as well. The ones that is scary to me is they leave a crying young child on the street and if you offer to help then they take you to a remote place as their adress and boom, the rest you can figure or then again sue you for helping them or something. It's just so scary
Normally as a foreigner in Asia, I did this type of thing, but my Asian husband told me that no matter what good intentions I had, it was better not to help because I could get into trouble.
My uncle one time saw a guy lying on the road unconsciously at night.. he was involved in a bike accident..so my uncle took him to hospital and after the guy's friends came to the hospital they accused that my uncle was the one who knocked him over and threatened to sue him.. they asked him to pay for guy's full hospital expenses .. when my uncle refused, they called the police.. and it turns out, the guy didn't have drivers license and even if they sue my uncle, they will definitely lose the suit.. so that's what happened to my uncle who offered help to a total stranger.. smh
That’s one reason why I usually don’t help people. (I grew up in America even though I’m Chinese, and this happens frequently in China though. Many people get accused for stuff they didn’t do and has to pay just because they’re too kind-hearted.)
Looking back at this video, this is one of the reasons I have trust issues with people. This actually happened to me when I went to visit China before corona hit to see family,I visited in mid 2019. I was walking right beside a store then I saw an old man on the ground unconscious right beside the store so I went to help. Then out of a sudden he woke up and told me that I pushed him, then i panicked I explained to him that I didn’t and then the argument was going further. Luckily their were surveillance cameras for where the store was, so as me and then old man were arguing a police officer walked towards me and questioned me about this situation, good thing that they were cameras their so the police officer was on my side and told me I was in the clear and I left. Since that day it’s hard for me to help people cause I don’t know if there lying or their telling the truth.
The old gentleman is lying on the ground. He started out unconscious. But wakes up when the young lady goes to help him. He accused her of being the one who knocked him over. She replies that she didn't knock him over and that she's trying to help him. Some passer by says there are CCTV/surveillance cameras to show what went on. One guy validated her and said he was already on the ground before the lady approached him to help. Etc. One person said being falsely accused is why he doesn't help people.
The old man is unconscious but when he wakes up, he accuses the lady of being the one that knocked him over. Others tell him that there are CCTV or Surveillance Cameras to check. One man said she did not knock him over bla bla.
wow showing humanity can even cause you to go to jail what a crazy world we live in that's why I don't blame people who just doesn't care anymore you'll never be too sure
There are too many bad people and scammers in this world to take advantage of people's kindness. These people really need to stop so people can help those who are in need.
