Michael Giacchino proved he could emulate John’s sound when he scored Rogue One so I can see them using him in future films. But I can also see Alan Silvestri as a replacement. I always thought his and John William’s styles were similar.

I'm actually pretty okay with most of these. I mean, I'm definitely biased towards his music but still it's like if star wars was created in 2008

The thing about reimagining scores or entire films done by other people is that for all we know, it could have turned out just as well or better and become a classic work of art. In some alternate universe where Danny Elfman did in fact write the score for the Star Wars films, there might be millions of die hard fans who would scoff themselves unconscious at the very idea of John Williams scoring Star Wars, as great as he is. Or if John Williams had been working with Burton all these years instead of Elfman. Or if Hans Zimmer had done Lord of the Rings, etc, etc.

Kevin Kiner should do another Star Wars movie.

John Williams has already given all he had to give to Star Wars. There are dozens of themes that can be rearranged and rescored whenever needed. Danny Elfman has always been extremely remarkable and his picturesque way of composing closely resembles the themes of the classic movies and would be most welcome on the next products.

I remember Uncle Ben getting shot once in chest and left to die on the side of the road, turns out the real scene was Peter coming home to find both Uncle Ben and Aunt May getting incinerated. Can I ask how do you keep original sound of a scene while removing the score? Reducing it via EQ or you can just find original stems somewhere?

Lots of smirk-worthy moments here, but even though you hire Elfman for his particular style, he's written more "conventional" themes in every soundtrack he's worked on. It's not all bouncy "fat guy" marches and "creepy" handbell stuff. He could do Star Wars justice, but he's probably not anyone's first choice. I'd think there are at least five others who've proven to be "Williams clones" by now.

If Danny heard this he's be saying..... More marimba, more percussion, hello Bartek we have work to do meet you at the restaurant. I can't remember the name the chinese restaurant in my old neighborhood, I'd see Elfman and Bartek in there eating and going over scores.

The cantina music somewhat fits until those saxufons show up, otherwise this video is good for laugh, especially bits with stormtroopers are quite funny.

As much as I like Danny Elfman's work, this really takes out the 'space opera' feel from the scenes, especially the smaller parts where you don't immediately recognise where it's from.

Could you do "if Bernard Herrmann Scored Star Wars". I'm sure he has plenty of scores that would suit the tone.

Ah yes, the old cliché "Danny Elfman can _only_ write zany Tim Burton-esque music" which is flat out untrue. Elfman can write more serious music. He can write for epic adventures. His work on Avengers: Age of Ultron alone is proof he'd write a _fantastic_ Star Wars score. Go right now and listen to "Heroes" from Age of Ultron and you, like me, will be begging for Elfman to be offered the chance to score a Star Wars film.
