It's not Generic, Maybe for modern punk standards thy have there typical old school 90's punk sound, As far as the riffs go sure it's sound is Simular, But to write songs whyle having the same sound over the years is not generic or predictable song writing. You're playing punk rock not progressive metalcore, Ofcourse it's gonna sound simpel and predictable, My bet is that you also play an instrument and you can tall it's simpel, Somethimes we have to take a step back and appreciate the vibe of the song and embrace the beauty of Simplicity @@darksharkofficial

@@kenshi4296I play an instrument, thrash and groove metal mostly. That said, the simplicity doesn’t make it bad, just more accessible. It’s more the clean vocals that led blink to stardom. Travis is killer on drums. That’s punk in a nutshell, right? Compelling or funny lyrics over hollow sounding bass and twangy guitar, with killer fast intricate drums.

He loves Blink, but he covers millions of other songs too (and has some of his own), and will do unique renditions of them (like if a certain Blink song became a country song, or if a certain country song became a Blink song, or if a certain song was played at a slower - or faster - pace to give it a different vibe, etc.). With the two new songs they put out, it truly is old blink at this point. Like, to the point of bringing friends who loved blink, loved each other, but fell apart for one reason or another, back together. blink did something magical with this song.

There’s definitely a bunch of blink stylizing throughout this haha, some are likely not even direct references. 0:51 the guitar in the background is playing a melody that’s similar to “let’s start over” in I Feel So by Box Car Racer. Don’t think it’s supposed to be a direct reference, moreso reflecting a style change that happened in Enema of the State

My favorite thing to listen to is the drums, as they have the most clear style changes across the blink discography

This is the kind of detailed and constructive criticism I love to see, incredibly rare to read a comment from someone who actually knows what they are talking about. God, I love the heavy crunchy guitars on the self titled album. I really hope this new album evokes that sound more. I also love Neighborhoods, my second favorite album of theirs.

As a counter point, I feel as if Alex didn't want such jarring transitions and more so wanted something that sounded like a song w/ nods to different generations. Would be interested in hearing both versions though!

The guitar tone on Enema and TOYPAJ is god like thanks to Jerry Fin producing those albums. He was incredible at getting an amazing guitar tone and it's not easy at all to replicate that tone.

The bass line he plays at that part also resembles the line mark uses in the song "I miss you", it's super subtle and I love it
