I always hear this piece in 6/8 and am surprised when I see the score in 3/4, which would seem to imply different accentuation from what I hear. Anyone care to elucidate this? Anyway, great analysis and presentation of one of the most powerful pieces of music ever written.
Hello, Great Video! Just wanted to ask why is the chord at 0:17 (and any other instance where it’s shown) a vii° chord because i think a diminished 7 chord would be A, C-# and E-Flat. I would gladly appreciate it if you could clear that up for me 😅
@@skylarlimexok thanks 😊 I think it would be better to mark it as VII7 instead of VII°. I might be wrong tho. Edit: Nope I’m wrong sorry my bad, I didn’t see that it was an A-sharp so I thought it’s and A Major seven chord
I'm not sure how useful this analysis is - chords only go so far. The choice of avoiding the dominant (F#) in the bass pizzicato deserves more focus, as this seems to subtly up the tension even further from the slow bass introduction - refusing to let the music settle. But then books have been written on this symphony...
