I’m a travel loving guy.

It’s strange, there’s a young girl I always avoided and try to avoid because of her age… way young… I always knew this and for me it’s a choice to not interact with young people at work in general… sure if one has to one has to.., I always sensed a vibe from her.. obviously hard to read but (first of all it’s retail grocery) we’re all at one point or another going to interact… I’d usually see her from afar looking in my direction.. it forced me to change my position, how I was standing/where I was standing.. I tried to avoid looking in her direction.. personally I’m not trying to send the wrong signs.. a lot of times it’s just one of those things where one sees movement out of the corner of their eye.., we locked eyes like this a lot.. she was given tasks to do in my department and noticed she wasn’t going through and doing them to which I actually felt relief.. like great! She’s avoiding coming into my area thus wants to be no where near me.. I found comfort in this… though I did sometimes feel like I was being looked at a certain way.. negatively.. I still felt better off not seeing her come through my department… a lot of her job were things like helping customers find things.. going aisle by aisle so I figured she would know a lot about what’s in the aisles… where certain things are… I mean you kinda get a hint as to what is where… she’s only been working there about 2 and a half years but I’d say enough time to have gotten a grasp as to where many things are.. she’s recently been positioned on the opposite end of the store in a café so that’s where she is majority of the time.. I’ve mainly been in one side since I stated 8 years ago.. I used to go to the café and grab a coffee from time to time and since she began working there I’ve stopped going.. there’s been at least 3 times over the last few weeks when she’s just finished getting off the clock and she does some shopping… she’ll come to me and ask if I know where something is… I’m just 🤔 huh? In my head of course just thinking… didn’t you work in and out of those aisles the last 2 years? Nothing stuck? It’s not agitating or anything I’m just a bit thrown off I guess… wondering if she’s doing it in an attempt to interact with me or actually needs help finding things… because I want to interact with her as little as possible I’ll usually give her directions… oh it’s on aisle 13.. towards the back.. bottom shelf… should be in that area… as opposed to walking with her to the aisle directly to what she’s just asked me about.. at least 2 times that’s happened I’ve gotten a look from her like she was hoping for more.. ie me walking with her to the item.. like it’s the look on her face and posture… I do feel like a jerk for not just going to show her but I just don’t feel comfortable at all to be interacting with her.. she’s a pretty young girl.. sooo after a long time of not having my coffee I finally decided you know what I need me a coffee… I went and she was the barista this day.. everything just felt sooo awkward… yes order was taken with no issues, got my cup and sandwich but just felt weird.. she seems to get very shy but not at the same time.. I’ve heard her talk with others before and seems normal.. with me just appears shy… a lot of the same awkwardness as when she asked me for help… I will probably not be going for another cup of coffee for a while.
