I like how Sonic's physics aren't super floaty. I've seen far to many SRB2 videos where people essentially skip over the entire stage just by doing a couple of jumps. Here, though, you can actually appreciate the work that went into the level design.
Some stages this ends up not being possible, but I personally rarely try to skip too much wih jumps, only when it looks fun to try, that's what matters, right?
See guys, this is what you need to do when using the jumping sound on a tribute game. Use the right one, not the Sonic CD sound that was only used ONCE. Great video.
@@troywright359 It probably could have with perhaps a slight downgrade in the visuals, there's not really that much going on here. But likelihood is the framerate would needed to have been locked to 30 fps. Only way 60 fps could work is if they made it an on rails game, but then that would defeat the object of a 3D Sonic game.
Your Sky Sanctuary reminds me more of Marble Garden. You need to open it up with more porticos and openings. Sky Sanctuary was very open to the sky and felt "breathy" and open to the air. The layout is fine, just need to have the walls opened up, that and/or made of "glass" or transparent material so that it also gives the illusion of being open, when you absolutely need a physical barrier. I should be able to see sky in every frame from some angle. If you manage to give the player the sense of they are going to fall even in a "solid" room, then you've gotten it.
I'm not a sonic fan, cause most of the games I got frustrated cause I want to run like this video and I can't, I have to stop all the time, so I gave up.. But this video, this fan mod, omg, it's is how sonic should be, you can run a lot, most of the time, there is a lot of things to do on the stage, and definitely this graphics are just Amazing, I just love it so much. If this sonic was release to buy, I definitely buy one copy to give it try. WELL DONE JOB.
I didn’t understand SRB2 until I saw this video. Now it all makes sense. I’ve watch other video of it and they look cool, but the layout of the levels looked too uh random, now these look more laid out to me and that’s probably because I have a place to compare them to.
This is beyond good graphics this is artwork and wish to see it more in games, we don't always need glossy textures. Sometimes games need to look like games again but shaped with modern gameplay. Games need to be unique. Arc Work systems and their anime graphics is a good example of a game being art or Ratched and Clank on the PS5.
Take note Yuji Naka, this is what a true 3D Sanic game should be lik- - oh wait, you're in prison for insider trading and you left Sonic years ago. Never mind. annnnyway Great stuff here xD c_c If I were to do anything different I'd had more outdoors areas in Sky Sanctuary so you could see the cloudy skyline and possibly a floating Death Egg off in the distance. And why is Hidden Palace Zone being mixed with Angel Island scenery? It'd had been more fitting to keep it with Lava Reef just imo!
@@kykistehater the worst one that is still somehow the third best one? I give it more crap than it deserves, because i hate what it led to. That's not really fair, but it did show a fundamental misunderstanding of what Sonic is and why he's cool. It abandoned geometric japanese perfection in favor of looking like western graffiti, and turned the franchise into an absolute joke riddled with ridiculous poses and expressions and butt rock. (though the ice cap mountain BGM is great) I'm not saying you can't add more humans to Sonic, I'm saying even _Unleashed_ did it better than this. Sonic humans should look like Digimon characters. But no, they gave us a preview of what Mario would do in New Donk City.. just boring bland regular-ass real humans. who asked for that? How do those fit in alongside eggman?
I need to buy or download or whatever i gotta DO TO PLAY. Whomever created this, i hope your creativity and passion never dies for your future projects.
Visual effects and soundtracks are, for granted, breathtaking and flawless! I'd love to see, though, boss fights here, but with the original Eggman's machines, and not against those from SRB2. Is it likely to happen in the future? Thanks in advance, fellas! Congrats for the project!
Honestly the way the sonic fan games are they might as well be racing games. You got stages that don’t even seem to have a reason to explore. And the sliding on ice movement is always odd.
You can it's free. Works on PC, phone or tablet. Sonic Robo Blast 2. Hundreds of fan made levels a Mario Kart spin off and battles and races. IMO The best 3D sonic game ever.
Imagen if you want. A world where Sega did not fail with designing the Mega Drive successor, but took its time and released a console that also had a 3D sonic game that looked and played like this.
Not a big fan of the noise when he is at full speed, but it's otherwise really impressive. Would that a "3D" Sonic game like this had come out after Sonic 3.
