At 6:05 you can hear a faint water like sound, followed by Miku's wobbly scream. To me, it invokes imagery of the time I almost drowned...like you're trying to scream as water fills your lungs :)
@@ursimp7774 being entirely honest with you, yeah it was horrible and it immediately sent me into panic even after being pulled out of the pool. i'm definitely never using the diving board again, that's for sure!
@@8pierrot89 good luck to you! I know it's traumatizing based on what I've heard or seen and some even develop a fear of water/pools/swimming afterwards so I'm really glad you're feeling okay now. I have never touched diving boards so I'm not sure how it works but due to my clumsiness and nonexistent luck in stuff like swimming, i wont be near them anytime soon haha.
So, my interpretation: it’s not living people singing, it’s the souls of those that died from suicide/died tragically, trying to pull more souls into the abyss they exist in. They’re lonely, but no matter how many people they trick into dying, it’s never enough.
Maybe the God of Children was the Cat, who eventually "abandoned" them because of old age. Maybe the timeline goes The Cat's Dinner Table, then Hole-Dwelling, and finally Invitation From Spooky, a song about the afterlife and the feast of spirits.
My interpretation is that it’s simply about a mental spiral. If I am remembering correctly, around this time, Kikuo wasn’t in the best mind at the time. I feel like this is him just venting.
When I started listening to Vocaloid's my mom was really worried because she speaks Japanese and now I only listen to the English covers which kinda makes me sad LOL
Hell yeah, The Cat’s Dining Table, Hole-Dwelling, and Kara Kara Kara no Kara are my top 3 favorites from modern year Kikuo. The Cat’s Dining Table is like the “dark musical” version of Hole Dwelling, and also catchy as hell.
“It’s wrong. So wrong. But we’re lonely. So lonely.” Going by the group suicide perspective, it really reminds me of how the two originators of the group would have dragged other people into the suicide. Suicide is scary, very scary, nobody knows what happens next and they’re leaving everything they do know behind without any knowledge of where they’re heading towards, but humanity has always sought safety in numbers and trust in example. The two originators are scared to go alone, so when they find others who are contemplating suicide or otherwise just depressed, they convince them to join them so that it isn’t that scary anymore. They know that it’s wrong to do, even if are convinced it’s an escape, but they’re scared and lonely, and there’s safety in numbers, so to speak.
With the aquatic like feel, it's like they decide to commit suicide by drowning or bleeding out while they let their bodies drift in water or something water related
@@exhaustedpigeon3401 that's remind me to news of some group of people that died from drowning because want to do something ritual in middle of night. The ritual it's to bath in beach from upper head to legs in circles group.
@@sycamorebundles That's from someplace in Indonesia, but the reason not to commit suicide. They do that to get some wealth or prosperity and every years this case keep going on even the authority and civilian try to banned this people. Just think this like Aokigahara but to do ritual, because usually they do in the same place or area that famous for the high tides.
I'm requesting Suck It Up by Maretu and Hatsune Miku. (I honestly haven't done an analysis or anything on it but I mean, it's literally by Maretu and Hatsune Miku (a.k.a Vocaloid GODS) so worth a try, right?)
@@dopaminevamp399 Pokkan Kara, Curry of Pure Water, Putting our Dreams into Technology, *Strict Secrecy, Sweet Love,* there are many examples of a kind Kikuo, he can be wholesome when he wants to, he just hasn't been particularly wholesome in a long time.
@@notmitsukiyolol I meant most the ones you hear when you don't keep up with him. They sound super happy and cute, but are dark as hell. I could assume he probably makes stuff that's happier as well since most artists don't stick to just one genre/feeling
He uses a steel pan drum. That instrument is normally used in video games to make the summer/beach/water songs. The origins of the instrument is from the Caribbean which explains the summery vibes you have.
This song reminds me of the sea of souls in Greek mythology in the underworld ruled by Hades. All of the souls in there are tortured and stuck forever only to be plunged deeper and deeper into darkness all while they can’t even process what’s happening to them. I think the song is a sort of point of view as to what it would be like to have nothing left but throwing yourself into a pit of your own regret just to not feel alone anymore.
The way you don't just react to the music, but rather look into the deeper meaning and analyse it properly, and try to understand the artist's vision behind the music is something I cannot word how grateful I, and many other fans are for! This is what keeps me coming back for more (along with your overall lovely personality :D)
hi! the image is actually a group falling to hell. i think the interpretation i gathered was simple, a group of sinners laughing, dancing and singing down to hell. i also think that the scream miku does near the end might not be literally drowning, but drowning in all of the people, maybe even a scream of twisted enjoyment. it seems all who fall go a little crazy
This is one of my favorite Kikuo songs, glad to see you reacting to it. Saw someone call it a terrifying tango and honestly feel it fits that description pretty well.
I have another song recommendation! The lyrics right off the bat a creppy and it’s really good in my opinion, it’s called “The fox wedding” by hatsun Miku and GUMI
It's not a good comparison, the scare factor from the two producers are completely different. MASA relies on gory and grotesque imagery to terrorize you while Kikuo masterfully toys with the line of creepiness and mystery by being subtle in both the lyrics and music. His stories are never specific, they let you use your imagination and personal experience to piece things together. He uses your own mind against you. Not saying MASA's work is less scary or impressive but the method is obviously not the same. The only similarity is that their songs are catchy as hell.
Masa is more on a Physical Aspect, putting a story for you to be terrified from. On the other side, Kikuo is more of on the Mental Aspect, being like Maretu and weaving the mind of the listener to imagine more openly. It's kind of like Horror Games vs Maretu.
Kikuo is an experience. If you do plan to do more Kikuo, theres really only one that I can put just a little higher than the others: Kikuo's "Climb! Advance! The High Tower" collab with the singer Hanatan. It gives me goosebumps every single time. (found here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Wlp-G-6M14.html )
There's this artist name babuchan! They have really interesting music and it always seems to have a story attached to it. The ones i specifically suggest are 0 people's waltz, happy child and moon of midnight! They all sound interesting and i think you'd like em! ❤️
the image used for this song is abstract enough (and smudgey enough in places) for me to think it was created using AI, but it's also structured enough for me to think that's not possible... it's really bothering me.
I read this from a comment on another video, the trick is to add eyes so that it looks like a living being but when you try to identify by looking closer you can't
AM I LATE? YES...BUT HEAR ME OUT. Reading the comments I saw someone notice that the song has a bit of a tango tone, and reading the second theory about two lonely people using each other in a decaying relationship, IT MAKES SENSE TO BE A TANGO!
I have two theories. #1 - sometime kinda close to the beginning, when the two voices are singing together, they say 'this dance is a queer one'. This makes me think, along with the suicide pact theory and the fact both of the singers(it's really just miku tbh) are girls or fem sounding voices, that they are in a girl x girl relationship. This is go with the codependent toxic relationship, and the suicide past theories, as they could've both been abused and/or severely bullied through their lives, and become depressed thanks to internalized homophobia(it is a bitch, from experience). So, they could've ended up in a toxic relationship where they end up hurtg each other through there own act of hurting themselves, and continue until they both give in a die together(maybe leading into another kikuo song, called Let's Go To Heaven), or they meet another bullied LGBTQ+ person, and convince them to join them in dying together, so none of them feel alone in their suffering #2 - the voices are a girl and her inner thought. She's singing to herself about how much fun or how better it would be to spiral until she didn't exist anymore, but sometimes questions it. When she does question it(the lines, 'it's wrong, so wrong'), a quiet, dark voice tells her that it would free her from her loneliness('but we're lonely, so lonely') and sadness, and she ends up going down that path.
I really like your second interpretation. It kinda reminded me of the psychology theory of the Superego, Ego, and Id, where the Superego is our logic (It's so wrong) and the Id is our base instinct (But we're so lonely)
I'm requesting any Masa Works Design song. He's the guy who made Onibi series and I love it. He stopped making his songs so creepy, so it's better to listen to the older ones. He also remade a few of the Onibi series songs and they're amazing. Even if you don't make a video I still think you should check them out!
Within the first twelve seconds I adored what I was hearing. So naturally I started to get this sinking feeling knowing the song would probably be especially dark because I like the instrumental so damn much. Surprise no surprise, it's dark. But I'm with you, I like the second interpretation more depicting a spiraling down into codependency and further disconnecting from society. The imagery reminded me of Junji Ito's Uzumaki, but that's due to the spiral. The song however made me think of a certain scene involving an eye. I'm not sure why I was reminded of that specifically. Maybe the imagery of that scene within Uzumaki reminded me of the couple in this song being beyond the point of return, like the eye. Don't apologize for vibing though, we're right along with you, and I understand the excitement for this song now. Your reactions are always great, even if some moments catch me off guard lmao. For this instrumental, I'll take one for the team too
I'm not gonna lie, I always interpreted this song to refer to an LGBT+ relationship where they think their feelings are wrong but they question if it is since loving in itself isn't harmful. I always considered this a person having a one-sided LGBT+ based love for another person with depression who doesn't return their feelings. One falling deeper into despair of their feelings they view as wrong while the other despair over their loneliness (the two different voices) they fall deeper and eventually get to the point where they are so conflicted about where they belong that they give up and just decide to let the 'god' of the world decide by ending themselves
i think the song is basically what a person at like rock bottom depression thinks/feels, or in a metaphor, depression speaking to a person carrying it, and the imagery representing someone spiraling further and further into depression, and after hearing the song talking about more than one person, it’s like the person with depression thinking that the world around them is leading them into their “hole” (depression, since depression can feel like dwelling in a hole if they have it.) basically thinking that the world doesn’t want them around, so their depression is “telling” them they should commit/the person thinks they should commit to free themselves from those thoughts (?) theory tho so idk
The ideas of a group suicide would fall under another song by Kikuo called “Dance of Corpses” A very good song that you should listen to, and let me tell you, it’s one of the more funky and catchy songs.
The reason why I think kiko never actually tells us directly what the song is about is so we can make up our own interpretation with it so when we listen to his music we can connect more with it and relate more to the songs that he makes, thats why I think he never tells us directly (sometimes he does idk)
He'd really like Hikari yo/O Light! The pv is entirely animated [and looks really good too] Edit: the official pv on kikuos channel [English captions are available] is in Japanese so just copy it from this comment 光よ
Hey, I'm something new around here. Can I make a recommendation? and if so, could you react to "The Narrow Way" performed by Amane Kanata? (cover) I really would like to see your reaction to that girl capable of doing a duet with herself. Good reaction, I like to hear your comments about it. :D
Before that I saw the notification, I was listening this song It isn't coincidence😔🤟✨ I dunno why, but I conected this song with another of Kikuo: Shikabane no Odori I highly recommend you to hear that song. Also it's so spectacular, maybe you can to "understand" the Kikuo's world I dunno, I really love the infinite theories and worlds that everyone can to create with the Kikuo's songs. And this is mine
This really reminds me of a manga a read a while back, the title is "Children" by Miu Miura. a bit spoiler there and there, i think it's best if you read it first. the story's a bit scary, though. My wording might be weird, my first language isn't english. It's about a nursery, filled with children with different ages, working there, by killing humans or what they call it, adults, who sent to them, all tied, once in a while. Everyone there are children, even the head teach. All of them are not even scared or disgusted with it, it just seems like a normal behaviour to do. They think the adults are evil. They can't leave the nursery because of a curse. if they flee, they will always come back there, around the nursery, seated somewhere, while they are already died. if a child died, there always another child sent to the nursery. if the new child can't kill people, they will be the ones who killed. "we can't be in that world, neither we can be in this world." they know that they aren't actually belong there, it's just that they need to do it to stay alive. even if they fled and survived, normal people wouldn't be okay with it. they don't belong anywhere. "the sun, the moon, the sky, and god" this line really reminded me of what they said before eating. they pray to the sun, moon, sky, and god. "we can't escape, so we won't escape." i think this line referring to the curse, how they can't escape. "Let's fall together, like the best of friends, wherever it may takes us." "the same, are we not?" even though they are forced to work, the children there actually friendly with each other, because they know they are have the same condition. "it's wrong, so wrong. but we're lonely. so lonely" they know what they do is wrong. killing people is wrong. but they had to do it. because if they don't, the get killed. and it's lonely. "one of us. what do you say? wanna join?" in the manga, there's this new child who can't kill people, and the children there really determined to make them be able to kill. it's feels like they are trying to get the new child to be one of them.
In my interpretation it was a song about the starting of a cult. like two people says its wrong but they're lonely, is usually how two people with similar taste starts to depend on each other especially if they have common belief. then they look at us (viewer) and say 'one of us, one of us. what do you say? wanna join?' its like they're trying to start their cult with us being first member just like the follow up 'one of us, one of us. We're all in this together. what's the password for this world of holes?' 'Are you one of us? one of us lonely folks? are you one of us inhabitants of the pit of hell?' it gives me huge vibes of a start of a cult trying to drag down more people into the spiraling need of each other and blindly following the people because you're lonely and they're trying to make you feel not lonely, dragging you further and further down into the rabbit hole.
Maybe you can look into Pinocchio-p's new song Non-breath Oblige? (Can also be read as Noblesse Oblige) The MV is quite animated, so I think there's a lot to uncover and english subtitles are also available. There are no breaks in the song (a comment says that Miku only breathes twice throughout the song). I think this contributes to the theme of the song of "I can't breath". Plus, a lot of lyrics = a lot of things to uncover I hope you can look into it someday!
I think this song talks about accepting death and the fact that you're gonna experience it alone. I remember this song came out when I was passing thru that moment of everyone's life when you REALLY think about death. The song really described my anxiety about it xD I felt so comfortingly and scared at the same time haha
This whole album by Kikuo, Miku 6, is just chock-full of mindblowing tracks that leave you gaping in awe once it's over. Cotton Candy is the best example of a horror song I've ever heard, The Cat's Dining Table will make your jaw drop, and XxX Cat feels so raw and hurting and it's perfect for what it's about. There's many more but those and Hole-dwelling really stand out to me. The whole album has an overarching theme of childhood, especially struggling, abused and/or traumatised kids.
I’m pretty sure, from everything I’ve read, the song is about drug addiction. How it spreads and pulls more people into a pit that’s much harder to climb back out then it is to jump in. Falling further down the hole is representative of falling further into addiction. It seems like the narrator is either introducing other people to hardcore drugs or pressuring someone else, she knows is venerable, into doing drugs (or possibly a codependent relationship) so she doesn’t have to feel alone in her pain. I’ve had issues with an ed which often leads into addiction later in life (if you survive long enough, that is). I can say from my own perspective that it’s easier to develop an addiction/obsession and it’s an understatement to call getting back out “hard”. I still have a strong habit of looking at myself in the mirror or body checking and I have to push myself to eat sometimes. Any sort of addiction never fully goes away. I’m lucky I was sent to a counselor and put on antidepressants. It made me more emotionally stable and I realized just how much I’d been hurting myself. Even then, it took a lot of pain, effort, and time just to sort myself out and actually try to change things.
As someone who's been into Vocaloid for years, seeing your reactions literally just hypes me up because it's like "YOOOO HE REACTED TO THIS SONG I GOTTA SEE HIS REACTION 👀" and legit your reactions to both the song and meaning behind it are genuinely so good. Keep it up, mate! I guess if it's okay for me to recommend some Vocaloid artists, I do have a few in mind! PINOCCHIO-P: Definitely one of my favorite artists out there with songs with deep meanings behind that catchy music. I would recommend his newest work "Non-Breath Oblige" along with "LoveIt" as the MV's to those songs are amazing and once again the music is really good! PowaPowa-P (Siinamota): Surprised I haven't seen anyone mention him since I whenever I think of Wowaka, I also think of Siinamota. Another artist with deep songs hidden behind cheery beats, I would recommend "Strobe Light" and "A Palette Full of You" but really a ton of his songs are so good it's hard for me to pin point my actual favorite. Siinamota is definitely one of my favorite artists, probably Top 5 or even Top 3 favorite Vocaloid Artists ever for me. Utsu-P: If you're into hardcore music, you gotta check out Utsu-P. If there's a dark meaning behind their songs, they ain't afraid to show it through the music alone lmao "Hyper Reality Show" and "MiKUSSABATH" are bangers and I would totally recommend them. inabakumori: I've actually only heard about this artist a few months ago despite one of their songs from 3 years ago literally have 10+ Mil views and I think it's mainly because they don't use Hatsune Miku but instead another Vocaloid called Kaai Yuki, who's pretty underrated and honestly doesn't sound that good in many songs imo. Inabakumori, on the other hand, makes her sound so good though and I would definitely suggest checking out "LagTrain" and "Lost Umbrella" from them. Note they don't have english subs on their videos, so you'll have to look at the videos that do have the english translations lol There are many other producers I could suggest, but s h e e s h this comment is getting long. Just wanted to mention a few I barely saw anyone mention, if they were even mentioned in the first place lmao Once again, appreciate all of your reactions and hope to see more from you soon! Take care!
You should do "Reincarnation Ascensation" by Kikuo, it's definitely one of my favorites he's done. And on another note, you should check out songs by Masa Works Design like "The Fox's Wedding" and also more songs by Maretu
taking the lyrics more literally, it seems like this song is about a group of people in kind of a cult thats main purpose is an escapism, theyre all lonely and want to physically escape down into a hole where they can all be together, and then all dream together and share their dreams with one another to escape from the very god of their world, the same toying god that scarred them. But they cant escape, so they wont, which makes it seem like they know that suicide won't let them escape that god, only dreams can let them escape, if only for a few hours. Moreover, the scream probably comes from how tormenting it is realizing that joining the cult and leaving society is wrong, so wrong, though in their minds it's okay because they're all so lonely anyways
I think I've read a comment on the MV that this song is about Japan's office worker drinking culture.. how they spend most of their time drinking after work hours in a bar until morning comes. That explains the lyrics about "blurry eyes, wobbly feet" and since it's a repeated action, it became a habit and now they "cannot escape" the addiction. "Are you a friend? You're our friend. We're the same" Is them asking around if any of the other workers share the same addiction and luring them to join the group. Also the alcohol theory kinda fits how Miku scream sounds like an underwater scream for help, drowning in alcohol But that's just a theory that I really like about this song ✨
*Please react to the entire Kikuo Miku 6 album!* It's really good. There are some very underrated gems. If you like this song then you will love the whole album too. I bet all of the songs on it will be going straight into your playlist
Always love peoples first reactions vocaloid songs. Yours is no exception! Love that you take the time to analyze the song :) If you're looking for recs, Dark Woods Circus is always a classic.
Hi shooshi, can you put the original song link in your description. Bc i wanna go to the song but im lazy to type the song name in search box. Also, it make it easier for fans to go straight to it 😁
Ah yes. Whenever I hear this song I just can't bother to hear anything else over the sound of those STEEL DRUMS. Please this song is good and super catchy.
I can never forgive Kikuo for making such banging music that we discover have gruesome topics enough to make any hardened person flush....he do be making us dance tho. I'd like to see your analysis and reaction to UFO by Kikuo. It sounds so whimsical but it's so hecking sad and depressing and I want to cry just thinking about it...
Kikuo is a real deal he is the only one who can do creepy muffled acapella and sound this good like really instrumental is full of weird sounds yet it is not all over the place (and tbh that kind of songs that are all over the place sometimes are fun to fuck your brain a little ngl)
If you want another recent Vocaloid song, I recommend listening to "Not Photogenic" by Utsu-P. It's a banger and I feel like the subject matter is very relevant
I don’t know if anyone else interprets this song this way but I never really thought about it being about suicide specifically. I felt like it’s about those who bring down others with them in life without intending to, whether that be because of mental illness or such. We know it’s wrong but bringing down someone else with us is better than being alone in life. Edit: I was writing this comment right before I heard the last interpretation being read 😂. Oh well.
This vid was great I love your interpretation of this song!!! You should listen to Don’t look at me that way and And then you became the Moon (Soshite kimi ha tsuki ni natta) also by Kikuo
I have NO IDEA why but this whole song gives me summer vibes Might also be because the first time I listened to it was in the summer of 2020 and It was one of the songs I listened to the most in that period of time
