Had Midwest rail then got B&t light quad rail then switched to this and I like this leaper one a lot better. Leaper also has amazingly customer service
Great video. I thought the same thing about the front qd placement. Have you tried putting the qd mount you added in front of the optic? I've been waiting on the MAC-5 to hit the stores. I know they started shipping a couple of weeks ago.
@@NeverGone23 you could probably put it anywhere that feels good. I chose further back this way mag changes and locking the bolt. Was free of getting caught on the sling
Looks like a direct competitor to the similar rails that Midwest Industries sells. Their's are 2 separate rail components, though. I have the MI MP5K rails, and I love it, but honestly this looks like a really great option. The attachment to the old school claw mount is brilliant, and baffles why it took so long for someone to come up with it. Once Leapers rebranded as UTG, I feel like they stepped up their quality big time. No longer airsoft grade lol!
Even though this video is a month old, I believe that you can take the lower portion of the handguard and flip it around and have the QD portion towards the rear. I am planning on ordering one of these soon so I don't have one in hand, but I think that I remember seeing someone say that online.
@@rdrgearFair enough! I agree with you though the QD on the bottom handguard portion should be towards the rear. Definitely looks like a slick system. Think I’m gonna order one today.
Really well done review...and it has me thinking. I really like my Zenith and MKE clones but I still have some AR PCC due to mounting limitations on the MP5. One thing I am curious about is the feel of the gun. Does it feel like it is part of the gun or does it feel like the gun is "inside a tube" if you will?
Ordered both UTG and Midwest industries. I have a PTR CT-CL, so it does not have the welded rail at the top. I am disappointed because I originally wanted to go with UTG. After trying it, I realized that the paddle comes into contact when charging it. I can personally tell when charging it that the paddle is coming into contact with multiple parts of the metal (very slightly but still annoying and not as smooth). Glad it worked out for you though. The fitment was great other than that. I will say the Midwest industries does have a much better texture and more mlok options. Still sad though because now I have to purchase an optic mount.
@@Martymartt the other issue I see with the Midwest is that you need multiple pieces to get 12’o block m-lok. I don’t own a Midwest but from the pictures it looks likes an additional top rail is needed.
@@wakawaka07 I have heard others say this. I have no clue what why we talking about because the locking tab and screw holes don’t line up if you did try and flip it.
6:34 WHOA WHOA WHOA Nah I'm just playing. I like that more things are still being made for the mp5. I'm bias towards the early 2000s picatinny with rail covers look but this and the midwest industries mlok setups are neat. This one kind of makes the gun look like a sig 556 imo. Cool build, thanks for sharing
@@rdrgear I live about 15 minutes from their headquarters in Lavonia MI wondering if I can just buy one directly but I’ll check the sight for a local dealer
@@natiboynva2010thank you took me a minute to realize you where talking about RobertRTG it’s been a while since I bought anything but used to buy mags and all kinds of stuff from there a few years back. Picked it up there they just come back in stock today
@@natiboynva2010side note it is a little disconcerting that sent leapers a customer service email and haven’t got a response. I wonder if anyone is home there and if they stand behind their stuff?
@@rdrgear Better performance. AR triggers, grips, safeties (and safety position as a result), and places the push button mag release in a place you can actually use (making the reload faster).
