Millions of people take a statin (zocor, lipitor, crestor, livalo, lescol, altocor) thinking it will lower their risk of having a heart attack. What they don't know is that the statin is doing these 7 things to their body; even many doctors don't know all 7.
Here is the 7 things a statin does to your body, and steps you can take to minimize the risk. This is not a complete list, statins do many other worrisome things inside your body, the more you research the more you will know...

After 25 years on statins my father was like a zombie and could barely walk. Doc said it was "absolutely necessary" to keep taking them to prevent heart attack or stroke. I asked the doc why the Lipitor warning label says their product does not prevent heart disease or heart attacks to which he had no answer. Stopped taking statins 6 months ago and he has gotten strength in his legs back and regained memory. Statins are poison. Your body needs cholesterol.

I am 68 years female and started taking statins at age of 64 . I had terrible side affects while taking statins, continued bladder infection, foggy memory, muscle pains , my glucose level went up. I was taking so many antibiotics l, medicine for pre diabetes, and bunch of other meds .I felt terrible and stopped taking them all. It was awful couple of years and I thought that is part of aging . I stopped taking them against my doctors advice . Now I watch my carbs and sugar intake , walk a lot and take no meds. I feel fantastic, have a lots of energy. For me all health issue disappeared after I stopped taking statins . It took a while tifeel better. I think few months , and almost a year for all of the symptoms to be completely gone .

I'm in the same boat you are in. I took one statin that almost killed me. Then switched to provastatin 10mg. It was also bothering me with said side effects. So now I've gone down to 5mg and still feel the effects of aging fast, foggy Brain. I did completely stop for a month or so and began to feel better but my Dr. said the benefits out weigh the risks and talked me back into taking the 5mg. I think now I'm ready to stop altogether and drastically change my diet and exercise program. I'm 71.

He has no calcium in his carotid arteries none in the aorta I think there was a minimal tiny amount somewhere but nothing she said to be concerned about. It literally comes up as nothing, next is a nuclear stress test. He has never had high blood pressure or Adema or any signs of anything like heart related but yet they’re making him take Crestor 40 mg and now he’s having muscle cramps I think after the stress test he’s going to get off the Crestor. I added red beans and rice to my diet, just keep a small crock pot going or in the fridge and have a bowl or two a day (best for evening meal). Hi, the cholesterol is not the enemy. Its always been insulin resistance, driven by sugar and carbs. Statins are garbage medicines, the brain is 40% cholesterol, we need it every cell. Then I discovered your channel and several others. The difference between 1% and 3% is 2%, not 50%. It all depends on how you look at it. Absolute vs relative. When discussing the benefits they use relative. When discussing side effects they use absolute. Technically not lying but morally they are. Please be careful, I'm no doctor but from the multiple accounts and articles I've read it's not the diet that's helped. In fact in an article I read they say being on the carnivore diet with high blood pressure can make it worse, as well it can cause constipation since you consume little fiber when on the diet. Things like bacon or lunch meat can also be high in sodium and as you probably know, high amounts of salt can lead to high blood pressure. You may also be lacking vitamins that are mostly found in things like fruit and vegetables.

Me too. My overall cholesterol was at 260 when I started talking statins. Ofcourse it brought my numbers down but like you I stopped taking it after a year. My next blood work showed I was at 307. I've heard that stopping statins causes a spike in cholesterol. So now that I'm on keto and eating lots of meat It will probably go higher. Now I a bit worried 😮

The Saturday Night Joke A guy goes to the USDA to apply for a job. The interviewer asks him, "Are you allergic to anything?" He replies, "Yes, caffeine. I can't drink coffee. "Okay, have you ever been in the military?" “Yes," he says, "I was in Iraq for one tour." The interviewer says, "That will give you 5 extra points toward employment." Then he asks, "Are you disabled in any way?" The guy says, "Yes. A bomb exploded near me and I lost both my testicles." The interviewer grimaces and then says, "Okay. You've got enough points for me to hire you right now. Our normal hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. You can start tomorrow at 10:00 am, and plan on starting at 10:00 am every day. The guy is puzzled and asks, "If the work hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, why don't you want me here until 10:00 am?" "This is a government job", the interviewer says. "For the first two hours, we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our balls. No point in you coming in for that.

Just an FYI Dr Berry. I've been fighting Crohn's for over 20 years, never getting better only worse each year. I started the carnivore life style about 6 months ago. It was an up and down event for me and I almost stopped a few times but wanted to get better then I did to eat SAD! I'm so glad I have stayed the course because in the last few weeks something has happened. I'm feeling better in many ways. My energy has been so low the whole time but I feel it coming on also. Now I'm talking BAD Crohn's to a point I had to stop working I was so sick all the time. Thank God I found your videos talking about the carnivore life style. Just want to say to people Dr Berry always says give it 90 days but I had to give it 6 months to even start to feel the benefit and have a ways to go for sure so hang in there and fight the good fight. I could go on and on about the things I can now tell are changing for the better.

I have been on the carnivore diet since I was three! Don’t eat veges except spuds Eat a lot of fruit, esp bananas, I cook and bake for myself. I live in NZ and had to go to Brisbane, Australia for a liver transplant in 94 for treatment of Hepato-Pulmonary Syndrome. (My 30th anniversary in September) after release, I heard that my favourite ward surgeon, Dr Christine, was leaving the ward to study Plastic surgery, and a lot of the doctors and patients were going to the Norman Pub close to the hospital. The pub has a large garden bar with a fire pit and barbecue so being an ex Advertising Man ( not allowed to go back into that!) and old habits being hard to break, I arrived early and ordered a large medium fillet steak, medium rare. My surgeon, Steve Lynch, arrived soon after, and I greeted him, and said “Steve, I’ve got to buy you a drink, what’ll you have?” He told me, and I went to order it, and a lemonade for myself (!) My dinner arrived, and I tore into it! (didn’t take long to cook that steak!) A beautiful meal, and about halfway through it, Steve reached across the table, tapped the side of my plate next to the steak with his fingernail, and when I looked up, he said, “You know, that is the best thing you can ever put inside yourself.” Thank you, Steve.

I'm a new registered practical nurse and I hate administering statins to patients, but I feel I don't have enough experience (read: clout) in healthcare yet to advise against it for fear of getting in trouble. It's ridiculous how many medications so many patients are on. The worst is the antibiotics ordered without any gut support. Without fail, tons of our patients end up getting C. Diff, which of course means MORE (harsher) antibiotics. I can't wait to look into studies more and build up my credibility so I can start pushing back against some of these things that worsen patient outcomes. But ultimately I'll have to get out of the hospital setting and into home care because hospitals do not provide holistic health care.

My elderly mom was taking Zocor for a few years and then out of the blue developed liver cancer. She had a single large tumor and ended up having it removed surgically and did extremely well. Both her reg doctor and her oncology team said that the cancer was possibly from taking the statin drug. She came off it and hasn't had any problems since. She's now 90, cancer free, and thriving bigtime! She eats well and is active. IMO, everyone should take as few meds as possible. I was on ststins for 30 years to lower cholesterol. It did. It lowered my LDL from 190 to 50. Then I read the drug trials. Lipitor says reduction of CVD by 36%. But that is relative reduction. Absolute reduction is 1.1% and no change in ACM. An LDL of 50 is considered abetalipoprotenemia where you body does not make enough cholesterol and you die early. Side affects, brain fog, skin cancer, T2D, ED, parkinsons. I fired my doctors. Our body requires cholsterol and recycles the cholesterol. Our brains make their own cholesterol. Older people live longer and have higher brain function with higher cholesterol. I'm happy at 300 total cholsterol.

I felt that my muscles and bones, particularly the chest ribs pains were getting worse. Without talking to any doctors I reduced my crestor dosage down to 5 mg daily. It seems that I am feeling better after a month. In today’s regular visit to my family doctor, I requested his approval to reduce my dosage to 5mg (of course I didn’t tell him I have done it myself), he refused and said it is good for my heart. But what really tipped the scales for me in terms of deciding that I didn't want to continue on a statin was a podcast discussion on RU-vid between Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Robert Lustig. They talked about how LDL is what we treat in medicine because it's what we've got meds for. And if we're going to follow LDL, we should be monitoring the LDL-P (LDL particle number) -- most doctors don't check this.

@@chozen_juan I don’t remember the dosage but it was the smallest dose given for a new medication. I’ve now gone through all the statins, the latest was Crestor about a month ago. I am now on Zetia 10 mg daily and still having short term memory issues, I call it ‘losing my words’. Also getting lost in the small town where I live. I had an MRI of my head on Monday and it was clear for any signs of stroke. At least this doctor listened to me. I chalk it up to a major health crisis in June of 2023. I was admitted for testing because my b/p was too low. I hemorrhaged from a malfunction of my Swan-Ganz catheter, Code Blue and 7 medical staff rushed me back to the cath lab, fixed the tear in my pulmonary artery and put me on a ventilator for 2 days……then 10 days later I had open heart surgery to remove my natural valve and a TAVR valve and give me a new one……..then, 8 days after that, I had to have a pacemaker. All this in 22 days in the best hospital I could have been in for living through this. So, my point is that I don’t know if the Zetia is messing with my brain or this is the new me. I’m 72, live alone and pretty much back to normal now. These other responses were scattered over 20 years or so and was not affected by any health crises. You missed one: brain fog, a known side-effect of the lipophilic statins. I was on 40 MG of atorvastatin and having memory issues. I quit taking it, and within two weeks my memory was back to normal.

Yes! Same. I was learning a new job. Super frustrated at my inability to “get it”. Finally did some research on statins & the brain issues. Got off of the Lipitor. Things cleared up for me within a couple of weeks. Amazing clarity now! I’m so glad you brought up this important point. Folks need to research this issue. Glad u r back to normal too!

Did you just quit at once or did you gradually decrease? My husband is also on 40mg of lovastatin and I want him off of it. He's been taking it for about 5 years and I have DEFINITELY noticed worsening memory, severe exhaustion (probably from all the lack of vitamins), and more issues. Doctor doesn't want to budge. What did you do to come off the med?
@stubloom4870
@stubloom4870 11 месяцев назад
@@sandradeleon6171 I just quit cold turley, with no noticeable issues. I had lost the ability to do long division in my head, which I've been doing since about fifth grade, and at the age of 75 I just figured it was age related cognitive impairment and probably an early sign of approaching dementia. My wife had also noticed that I had some cognitive decline, and there were other brain fog issues as well, all of which cleared up. At the time I quit, I did not know about the cognitive side effects, or that stopping the statin would resolve them, but when I later read about them, I realized that coming off the statin was the reason for the improvement. When my LDL went through the roof and caused a heart attack (in my doctor, not in me) my PCP demanded I go back on a statin. I told him that even in the unlikely event that the LDL actually significantly increased my heart attack risk, I was not willing to trade brain health for heart health.

Statins are not required. What is required is self control. Exercise, a balanced meat containing diet and a healthy weight is all you need. I am 65, no comorbitities, take no prescription drugs whatsoever, i get checks via UK bio bank. One of the checks was a carotid artery ultrasound scan. It indicated an empty pipe with no arthoschlerosis whatsoever. My secret is life long exercise, particularly cycling, regularly taking my heart to and above my aerobic threshold of 171 bpm, staying slim, no smoking, hardly drinking alcohol and no over eating. Last night i checked my pulse at 37 b.p.m. resting. I have never taken a statin in my life. Exercise and lower body weight also helps you to live longer as well as being more healthy. The secret to that is reducing oxygen intake, net per day by your cardiovascular system being made more efficient and having to feed oxygen to a smaller body, with exercise and weight control, which uses net less oxygen per day. The burning of oxygen releases free radicals with every breath you take, destroying dna. Therefore the less oxygen you use within the constraints of still having the oxygen your body requires for life, each day, the longer you live.

I flushed my Crestor (literally) and I ceased being a pre-diabetic lump headed for an early grave. I have comfortably and easily maintained my weight loss by sticking to a Ketovore lifestyle. I'm a 65y/o female. My doctors are perscribing statins because my Calcium score is 60 and I have high cholesterol and Triglycerides. They say the Calcium score make statins necessary. I just found your channel!
@puggirl415
@puggirl415 Месяц назад
A calcium score under 100 can be only a minimal to moderate risk of heart problems. If you have high triglycerides you probably need to lower your carbs significantly. I had high triglycerides of 190 in 2022. After doing the carnivore diet for only a few months my triglycerides were down to below 100 to 76 so do some research on your calcium score because I just looked up what a bad score is and 60 ain't it. Somebody is scaring you unnecessarily.

My wife had a stroke 5 years ago. To this day, no-one has ever been able to explain why. In fact it took 10 weeks and a brain scan before the stroke was diagnosed. She was extremely fit, of ideal weight, a non-smoker, had perfect heart health and a vegetarian with very low cholesterol levels. Her doctors put her on statins, as they really had no other suggestions. She had monthly blood tests. Within weeks, her liver function deteriorated rapidly. Her doctors stopped her statins and her liver function returned to normal levels. I would not take statins under any circumstances. If my cholesterol level is high, I'll cut all dairy and reduce it naturally.

Who decides what is high? Is it really high .. or is it normal for that particular person? Is "normal" a much wider range than "they" believe it to be?
@colleenjensen6584

@@stevel9914 That is exactly the question we should be concerned with. After big Harma introduced the family of statins, the medical mafia purposely decreased the threshold on "normal" levels. Brilliant scam, like so many other things they manipulate and fear monger.
