After the war Igbos lost everything and Nigeria seized all our properties, our businesses, seized our parents money(pounds) that was in the bank and Igbos became immeasurably wretched. People, children and adults died of kwarshiokor- anaemia, hunger ravaged our people and all were helpless, no school, no help from our brothers from Niger delta. So it became survival of the fittest and Nigeria used our poor condition to work against us. So Nigerians will take our sisters ravish them forcefully and give their brothers small job and warn them not to help or bring other igbos to benefit. Lack of freedom and punishment meted out to Igbos that displayed love to their kits & kin made Igbos to behave as if they are selfish. That's not true. Igbo is the original name. The christined name you are referring to is "Ibo" which other tribes used because many of them can pronounce the "gb" in Igbo.
There are lots of theories on the origine of the ibos, non is completely correct, but I think one thing is sure, that there is something true about each of these accounts, and that all this accounts points to one fact, that the Ibo race is a very very ancient race, that could probably must have existed before any other one could ever think of. Nevertheless, that is not our major concern now, let us get Biafra first, and afterwards we could talk of the origine of the Ibos.

it true there is many uturu people in every igboland. even ebonyi state there also uturu people, they are called umuakuma,umuonwka,umuka, they are there in okposi local government of ebonyi state, to know the truth in ebonyi state people there don't name their communities umu rather they name them ama,, for example amaechie,amaenu etc just like Enugu people also name ama,in that okposi local government of ebonyi it's only these three communities there that their originally from uturu that called umu.

For instance, there is Amagu in ikwo, ezza, izzi, nkanu and many more. there is echara in awka, ikwo and ezza. We cannot yet say why these names spread as they do. To make your hasty conclusion is harmful to the authenticity of our history. For your information, I worked for the Institute of African Studies when I was a student at UNN, 1982/83.
