Bill, We've talked via BinderPlanet and the various Facebook groups before about other projects...but I'm about to replace my '72 Travelall's motor with a reman'd 392, and I'm going to install your TBI setup and a swap in a 4L80e transmission. If you've got ANY tips (and I'm sure you do), and you'd be willing to talk to me about what I'd need to make the job go as easily as possible when it starts the first week of October, I'd be appreciative! Wife REALLY wants the Travelall to be an "easy-going" machine so she can drive it regularly...
Real nice. I saw your work at the Binder get together in Grass Valley 2019. I would definitely install the FI if I could pass smog. Because I've got a 76 Scout, it still has to pass smog, which in California means all original equipment or CARB replacements. No exceptions. Kind of a bummer.
@@BillUSN1 thank you! I'm working on a 392, reading on forums about your work. A turbocharged TBI system sounds very interesting. I can fabricate the turbo side of it, I'd be interested in talking with you about blow-through TBI tuning, I had thought of doing it with a 454 tbi truck I once had, but didn't find much on how to make sure the computer knew what was going on and deliver enough fuel under boost.
Meh. My 392 fires just as quick, right into gear no warm up with 4bbl edelbrock, and TF727 all winter low a around 10⁰F..what I want to know is how's the mileage, and was there any torque increase? My travellete runs around 13mpg empty. For those looking in the comments search Hamilton fuel injection, he custom builds TBI, and MPFI for the sv 345 & sv 392
Intake is an RPT aluminum unit. They were cast with extra material in the proper spots to allow the end user to machine in injector ports if so desired. However, they work just fine carbed or tbi. I do not know if they are still in production. Look up ih only or ih only north if you’re interested.
This one is the alum intake produced by IHOnly.com, I have also machined stock manifolds for MPFI. They both work the same other than weight. 30 vs 60lbs.
