Maybe we shouldn't have recorded this when we were really, really tired. Iji voice by Anna. Music: "Men And You" from the Iji soundtrack by Chris Geehan and Dyn Byrne McCullough.
You know, Iji is by far my most-played game, I must have ended it like, what? 14 Times or so. I've been playing this game since 2010 and I have to say, not even [ONCE] I got tired of it. The choices of being "bad" and good are truly something that I enjoy a lot. Sadly this game is quite underrated, even more here in Brazil, so finding fans of it is pretty difficult, but I will never, and I repeat: [NEVER] get tired of playing Iji on my entire life.
Ever since I saw Colonia Contra Ataca's video on it since I was a young kid I never really stopped playing Iji, even now, so many years later, I still love this game a lot (I even beat it on ultimortal on my lastest finished playthrough)
IJI 2 now please. IJI is one of the best games I ever played. Keep producing and following your dreams daniel. you are already in history and in the heart of one gamer
Greetings from Russia, where, I suppose, at most a few thousand people of all 150 million have played Iji, and I can't connect with any of them anywhere. Strangely enough, my pronouns were all right, like, all of them except for Dan (is he really pronounced like dAn? Why not dEn?). Anyway, I would like to thank you for creating the best moments of my childhood, alongside with Pixel's Cave Story, ReLogic's Terraria, Toby Fox's Undertale and a bunch of other less significant masterpieces. Of all games I have played, these are the best, and I suppose Iji is the true one, as everything, from plot and drama to mechanics and little (big) secrets, is perfect. You won't be forgotten by me, as well as anyone who had ever completed Iji at least once.
Thanks for your support! As for Dan, that's how his name is pronounced in Swedish. The voice actress of Iji also speaks with a faint Russian accent, which isn't noticable in-game as Iji doesn't have any proper spoken lines.
Controller support for 1.7 would be great, but the code for the controls in Iji is so terrible, it's going to take a lot of time. It's one of those things that may be too cumbersome to fix in the end, but I'll try.
A sequel or spin-off is unlikely, I'm afraid. There are other games and stuff I want to do. I am still planning a version 1.7 that'll run better on modern computers, but I can't promise when that'll be done (which is why I haven't said anything definitive about it yet). Sorry!
Whenever you can, buddy! I recommend this game to all I come into contact with on a daily basis and would only do so even more when the time comes for its updated engine. One of my favorite games of all time and the most fun is worth the wait.
Hi, I just wanted to let you know, that when I played Iji around 2 years ago, It inspired me to learn to program Java, and I am now taking Ap Computer Science in school, pretty much because of you. Thanks for being my inspiration!
I... have not expected this. For the sake of satisfying my curiosity... why release this video now? I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't mind and even kinda happy that it exists but that was really very unexpected.
People keep asking how to pronounce the names, especially the Korean players who play a translated version. I knew this would cause the usual array of Iji questions though :p
Ah, the Korean translation! Makes much more sense now. Thanks! (Also, you are one hell of a dedicated person. Doing something like this for an 8 y.o. game! And working on a patch too. That's, like, really cool of you)
Thanks for the updated faq! I've wanted to know about the possibility of an Iji 2 for years, and now that it IS a possibility, I'm willing to wait as long as necessary :)
This game is old but gold, I wish Iji was remade to be in 3D, multiplayer, singleplayer, more than 100 sectors... New weapons... New enemies... New bossess... Coming in 2021
A little too much, perhaps? Those sectors in the game served their part in a story, any more than 10 would just be meaningless filler/padding, as with enemies/bosses.
@@NotACutie Ok I was joking about 100 sectors but, Iji should be remade in 3D, everything would be the same of course. I'm not saying the developer should do it, but rather a fan.
Just thought I'd say that if you ever decide to redo the soundtrack with updated volume on Steam for example I would buy it in a heartbeat no matter what the price (well within reason of course) Seriously, Iji is such an amazing Indie games with such a great soundtrack, its just a shame the volume is rather low on most tracks. I'm blathering but anyway, Thanks for making this gem of a game David :)

Sorry, it's because of Game Maker compatibility issues that I can't control. 1.7 should at least be more compatible with modern Windows versions than previous versions of the game.
My laptop screen even got flickering because of the game fps is too fast. :) And... how about port it to Game Maker 8/8.1? (in FAQ #3, you just explain Game Maker 5.3A, 6.1, 7, and Studio)
In my experience, and the experience of my friends during a game jam, 8 is basically the same as 7 except with more sound-related bugs. I don't think its compatibility would be very different from 7.
@@remargameshonestly you brought so much joy with the original Iji game that it's okay! I'm not sure how to even continue the story for Iji after the ending in the first game
Daniel Remar Nice, I'm excited to see what you could possibly add to the game at this point. The only thing I remember people modding in was more weapons. Wish I could remember that mod too. anyway, excited to see what you've come up with since last update.
Amazing game of course, but I got to say I always pronounced Ansaksie AnsakSIGH. (as if the E was silent.) anyway, im playing through 1.7 and I have to say all the little changes really make it feel new. (on a side note I'm glad that that first shield door to the left of the transporter doesn't lead to all those different kinds of ammo anymore, it always felt odd to me.)
I agree it makes more sense from a game design perspective, though the room looks awfully barren now. That being said, the only thing I can think of that would be suitable for filling that empty space would be a few small blue nanofields; anything else would probably be unnecessary. Simply making the room smaller would work too, but then the map graphic would have to be adjusted and ehh I'm seriously thinking too hard about a minor bonus room. :P
IJI NEEDS to get a remaster for ps4/steam/xone that you could actually buy. I would literally throw money at the screen then. I dunno is it possible for this to happen, but hey... a man can dream, right?
Uooa. I'm from Brazil and the only character I speak different it's Ron. XD I'm a little sad because i can't play that awesome game(my seventh favourite game of all time) on my notebook with Windows 10. Even strawberry jam. /= Well, it's time to fix my old computer that have a windows XP. u.u"
Wait what? They don't run on 10? I have to check this myself, this could be upsetting. I originally played Iji on a Windows 7 laptop, so you shouldn't need XP...
Update: I'm not sure what trouble you're experiencing, but my Windows 10 laptop can run Hero Core and Iji perfectly fine. I just downloaded both the make sure. You could maybe try instally directplay if you're having difficulty?
When I played in Windows 8.1, the game was slow only in the fight against Asha. But on my Windows 10, the game slows down from start to finish. Even with compatibility mode. :
Hmm. I tested gameplay of Hero Core and it seemed fine, but I'll look into it more. This would be very concerning if it was a problem for lots of people.
I really hate being that one guy, but it's proNUNciations (normally I wouldn't correct something this petty, but it's a video title after all). Also thanks for putting so much time and effort into this glorious ol' game, covering themes such as societal collapse, justifiability of violence and *cool flashy explosions*, it's still great after all these years.
Honestly I'd rather have a remake that doesn't act all wonky on Windows 10, and possibly a Steam release. The story of Iji is pretty much done, there's not really a whole lot a sequel could do. Like... I could think of a more survival-oriented spinoff about one of the human survivors outside the research facility, leading up to the founding and construction of the town we see in the end credits, but that's about it. Iji herself doesn't have many places to go as a character after the main conflict.
I recall a rare bug with the ribbon in Sector 8 not counting, but then the ones in 9 and X shouldn't have spawned. Looks like I messed something up somewhere...
