imagine a female singer DANCING THIS MUCH and still able to dance AND KILL IT SINGING during the WHOLE song now. No backtrack. Impossible. TRUE GOD! Tina!
It`s incredible how much quick movements all the ladies are performing while singing at the same time. Tina is an energy bomb. No wonder she managed to stay famous and present for so many years. It is always a delight and an uplifting experience to watch her. My deepest respect, Tina!
OMG. Thank you for posting this incredible performance by Tina Turner. I've never seen this before. How on earth was Tina able to perform such high quality routines while being in an extremely abusive situation. Astounding brilliant Artist!
@@sinesiosoares5487 Sorry don’t speak Portuguese but “cover” in English musical language means doing someone else’s song. This is a Sly and the Family Stone song, you should check them out…
It's absolutely an athletic activity. I knew a few professional dancer/backup singers, and they trained as hard as any athlete. There's a lot of work put into the timing of choreographed dance moves and vocals. In some bands (not so much this one) the musicians are often involved in the choreography, such as Prince's band. So you'll be playing a guitar or bass along with dancing and singing.
AMAZING....Absolutely Amazing!! The Gurl is giving it with everything she's got and loves doing it!! Pure unbridled energy and talent!! What an incredible woman and entertainer!! Legendary in every respect of the word!!
@@michaelgaynor6866 bull crap he discovered her she was a nobody who ike took to the top don't believe a movie not one person ever said they seen him hit her why you think she keep his name
@@kh-sg3rd Tina herself has stated that he discovered her and she was grateful for that platform, but it was her talent alone that relaunched her career in 1984 and made her the queen of rock n' roll. She did that on her own. Ike had nothing to do with it, regardless of whether you believe he was abusive.
I saw Tina in 1983 with my best friend and sister. She was fantastic to say the least. That was when she also had that sexy sax player. It was and will always be one of greatest memories in my life. Thank you Miss Tina!!
Dear PsicoMauri: I was lucky enough to see The Ike and Tina Turner Revue when I was growing up in California. They were absolutely fabulous and incredibly exciting to watch on stage - I still wonder how they managed so much good dancing in those shoes!!! I can never forget them - some 50 years later and am so happy to be able to watch them on You Tube. Thank you very much.
@@zumaxmetals7325, this show took place in 1971 live on Italian TV. Tina Turner was born in 1939; therefore she was 31 or 32 during this performance.
Blessed to see the Amazing Ike and Tina Turner with The Ikettes doing this Live was Incredible and saw her Farewell Tour here Philadelphia with Joe Cocker! Tina Turner is Phenomenal and Simply The Best!✌October 2020

this performance has more pure energy than the modern equivalents, like when i watch this i really feel the passion & vibe, but when i watch a Beyonce i might appreciate the technical choreography but aren't really feeling anything...know what i mean?
Ike was very talented. Tina & Ike were like Pb&J they were both music geniuses, but I really wish they wouldn’t have had a relationship outside of the music.
I could watch Tina perform all day long!!! She reminds me of my grandma -- killer legs, high cheekbones, light brown skin, fiery, beautiful. Pure rock n roll!!
THIS IS THEIR SONG......WHEW !!!!!!! THEY WERE KILLING IT.... IKE WAS A DAMN FOOL BUT HE HAD TALENT...….TINA AND THE IKETTES DIDN'T MISS A BEAT...…….WOW ...LOVE IT !!!
How could you have heard the S & FS version of this song and think this version was better. The instrumentals here hit every note, but Tina didn't even know all the words to the song. Don't get me wrong. I love me some Tina Turner, grom before and after the break with Ike, but here, she did not do this song justice. She did tolerable, but anyone who has heard the Sly and the Family Stone version was listening for the rest of it, including the different voices/harmonies and we didn't get it. If we were at this concert, we would have been just fine with this, no problem, but as for the recorded version, I'll still take the Sly and Family Stone version. I always prefer the real over the substitute. Now Ike and Tina's version of Proud Mary was a total remake and they did a fantastic job, even surpassing the original version. But this "I Want to Take You Higher" version was simply an imitation.
@@anniebrooks7908, apparently this concert was in Italy. I wonder if they had their own engineering crew along. Vocal mics should be amped to compete with the instruments when necessary. Something was off here. (Maybe no rehearsal?) Might be a better take of Ike & Tina doing this tune in a different concert venue or recording. Sly is hard to beat.
@@anniebrooks7908 I wouldn't go as far as say an Imitation. In the business it's called A Cover.THE IKE&TINA TURNER REVUE Covered SLY&THE FAMILY STONEs'Hit Song I WANNA TAKE YOU HIGHER,and by way of doing that They rearranged it to fit their Live Concert Performance and One of the things they were Famous for their Perfect Non-Stop Dance Routines.I don't Believe anyone who got to See them Perform that Live Complained. And even though there are 3 backup Singers on Stage,The Band along with IKEr.i.p.TINA Covered all the parts in the Original Song. She covered SLY STONE SISTER ROSE CYNTHIA ROBINSON r.i.p.and LARRY GRAHAM Whom All had parts in the original version. It is A great cover of a Classic Nightclub Dance Song and I know without A Doubt SLY&THE FAMILY STONE Was Impressed,Excited, and Thrilled that IKE&TINA TURNER Covered One of Their Songs,A Act that was just as Hot and in Demand as they were. Its Perfectly OK to Like the Original Version of Any Cover better. But you can take anything away from TINA TURNER.Im pretty sure SLYs'Version of WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT Wouldn't Sound Exactly Like TINA TURNERs'.Love&Peace😁😎 luv ya byo eJ
Its a shame that Ike's brutal treatment of Tina has left him unappreciated as an artists. He was an excellent guitarist, multi instrumentalist and is said to have written the first Rock N Roll song "Rocket 88" which was about a popular car at the time.
I saw her in concert in London, after the split from Ike, when she was rebuilding her career. She was a ball of energy. I am a straight woman, and thought she had the BEST legs I have ever seen. Legend.
And Adolf Hitler was one hell of a painter. Who can say what would have happened had the Academy Of Fine Arts in Vienna approved his application. Fuck Ike with all of his glory
@ Women didn't have choices at that time, whether to keep their own name or not. Nowadays, yes. So she had his name, she raised his kids from his previous relationship and she survived countless, brutal beatings. I don't care that he produced the 'very first Rock and Roll record', he was a brutal man who found a meal ticket in Tina. She survived and continued to flourish after she left him; what happened to him? What accolades did he receive after she left? Yes, he was talented and had an eye for talent and production but I still don't respect a man who is that brutal. Tina rules.
Tina Turner was beautiful and exotic looking. The Ikettes was killin them damn dance moves. Is the smallest one Esther Jones? The longest lasting Ikette??
Whomever set up the production’s camera shots, pushes, swipes, etc.-rehearsed…but still all ultimately shot LIVE-are such an amazing enhancement to this phücking AMAZING performance.
Unbelievable. That band is so tight. The stage act is unbeatable. James Brown may have been the hardest working man in show business but Tina and her backup singers kick his ass. To quote Morris Day " you got ta shave to wear a skirt like that! And i aint talkin about the legs"
Wow, I remember hearing that song on top 40 radio and they were like Motown before Motown. I had the privilege of seeing her back in 1989 LA Forum senate seats. Surprise guest wasn’t announced. After a set break when the stage was dark, you heard what by then was a familiar collab with the great Canadian iconic guitar player Bryan Adams. “It’s only Love” the opening guitar riff unmistakable. The audience had been whipped up from that first set and they did their big hit on stage. The audience went wild! It was really amazing to watch her go go dancing in 4 inch heels for 2 solid hours! Oh did I mention singing too 🤷🏼♀️ I love how she demonstrated that she had an unbreakable spirit by taking nothing but her stage name as Turner in the divorce from Ike.
OCTOBER 2020 Tina Turner deserved to retain her stage name with performances like this and a great set of pins too, as for me watching her as The Acid Queen in the movie TOMMY was a wow moment. The energy she as and her voice made her a stand out act of her generation.
They had real talent. They worked at it relentlessly. And under some very very trying and difficult circumstances. But this is true talent that doesn't exist like this today
I am freaking out. How can you have so much entertainment in 3 min: 17 seconds?!! Those baritone sax licks are attention-grabbing in a tight brass line-up. Also I like how Ike and the other guitarist take turns alternating between playing lead and rhythm. Ike is playing more Muddy Waters or John Lee Hooker bluesy while the other guy while leading loves his wah wah and tremelo. Best of both worlds. Bassist and keyboardist also keeping it tight. Not just Tina Turner but also the Ikettes are fabulous singers and dancers and okay... not to be sexist .... but serious eye candy. Oh dear. Hope that audience paid again.
