To the idea of an inflection point, I believe it will happen with March of the Machine: Aftermath, which comes out less than a month after the March of the Machine, which is after All Will be 69,(It will have 5 card, regularly priced packs...)

Truthfully investing in sealed product should be double downgraded like Hasbro was until they do something about the sheer quantity of cards they are printing. There are two major factors that have changed the landscape of sealed magic finance and I think on one end Rudy knows things wont go back to how they were, but on the other hand he has to promote that there's a chance because the massive amount of sales he is able to make to patrons and how the selling of newly released sealed magic part of his business is truly in jeopardy with Hasbro's current business practices. I am a truly a big Rudy fan and I respect his business empire he's has built and his work ethic, as well as the wisdom he shares. With that being said It's my opinion that it is overwhelmingly clear that the Bears are right on the sealed product future value and its strictly because we know Hasbro is not pulling back the print run, they are not retracting amazon sales and they have no incentive too. The sheer quantity of product they print has far exceeded the demand and as a result holding on newly released sealed product is far from the safe investment it used to be. This has been happening since Kaldhiem/Zendikar Risings(and those sets had loads of playable strong cards). I think its safe to say that once WOTC opened the amazon gates they increased print runs enough to destabilize the existing system that made investing in sealed product a safe choice. Its now far from a safe bet and more an extreme gamble with low upside and here is why I believe that. The sheer number of products they are creating now and the quantity that they print is clearly destabilizing cardboard landscape and also it has a strong chance to impact the value of old sealed product you may be sitting on. Most people aren't buying sealed boxes for anything other then the chance of opening big value cards that you cant get anywhere else. With how much product they are releasing and the number of quality reprints they need to add to keep the demand for these new sets sustainable with out power creeping their game to the point of ruining it, requires adding previously printed high value cards to these new sets which as a result will most certainly effect the demand of the original sets these cards were printed in. if commander legends 3 comes out and it has Jeweled lotus. You now have the top 3 most valuable cards from commander legends reprinted with in 2 years of release (Vamp tutor (Dominaria remastered) Mana Drain (2x2 Masters). For me to invest in sealed product going forward I will need clear and overwhelming evidence that WOTC reduces the print run and product release frequency significantly,.I want to make it clear that I don't think all sealed product will yield no return on investment, But I do feel a diversified investment is no longer wise for the newly released sealed product. (Sure one set a year might turn out to be a good return on your investment but why not buy the cards two years after they release at below or at market value from release date and keep your capital invested in something that is yielding return on investment during that 2 year period) Id actually really love to hear peoples opinions on this and love that Rudy creates discussion around this topic.

Magic players need to take notice from the D&D bunch. You don't buy their product and suddenly Wizzers knows they made a booboo. You continue to buy Pringles and damaged cards, you continue to get Pringles and damaged cards.

25:30 about the whole D&D thing - yeah, they did a complete 180° here after the *MASSIVE* fan backlash. They've actually completely revoked their previously announced plans, kept the original OGL agreement, and have announced that D&D is now under the Creative Commons license. In English this license "makes the content freely available for any use” and puts in place “a worldwide, royalty-free, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, irrevocable license” for anyone to publish and sell works based on Dungeons & Dragons. TLDR: after so much upset at WoTC/Hasbro's predatory licensing moves, this is an absolute win for the community 👏

Love streets of new capenna and both Innistrad sets because I can go on eBay and get a draft booster box for $75! Haven't been able to do that since 2015 lol. I enjoy the bear market because it makes playing sealed or draft tabletop with my friends cheaper then ever! Gobble up as much as you can now because in 2 years people will be begging to pay $120 a box

WOTC works 12-18 months ahead of what we see. That means we're still seeing products and decisions based on their mindset of "everything is great, flood the market" and will for all of 2023. Hasbro revenue is tanking, they will not ease up. Nothing fundamentally has changed to strengthen customer confidence. Maybe that's what despair looks like at a market bottom, but I don't see any reason to be optimistic this year, period, full stop.

199€ is the normal start-price for a collector box over here. Everything above is scam. And of course 140 or less should be normal for a product which is not as good as others.

They should have done Capenna in two sets. The one they did which is a bunch of mafia stuff, then another that is sleuths and crimefighters. Edit: Where is batman? They did all kinds of other cat people and stuff...... and no batman? Shoulda done another set and put it in. I was looking forward to a bunch of film noir but ended up with cat people and rhino people fighting each other at dinner parties.

It’s too bad about Capenna because the concept is interesting and the set itself is beautiful. The Art Deco gilded cards are quite nice.

Rudy again USA is not the complete market. it is roughly 33% USA 33% Europe 33% Japan+Asia. that means that 1% is of the US market and 0.33% of the total revenue. Just check your network its not all about USA. ps: you dont know if its 1% of the USA either since we do not know how much Amazon sells that could easy be 50%+ of the USA market. Would be interesting to get this data!

keep talking about how the stock market is and crypto going up but ignoring the fact that the country hit the 31 trillion debt limit. Hitting this limit means we can no longer borrow money to keep from defaulting on loans. so the gov already approved to start taking government retirement checks from retired veterans, postal workers ect... they said they will be halting their monthly payments for the next 4 months starting this month. These funds are being taken and used to pay the loan payments so the country does not default on the loans. after 4 months they will be coming for everyone else's money thats retired, on disability, your VA hospitals will be defunded as well as any goverment assistance of any kind. people will be on the streets. There is no way to get out of this debt the only way is for them to go Digital to clean the slate eliminating the USD introducing a new currency. the market is doing good right now is fake politicians and billionaires took their money out of the stock market cause they know its going to crash further once all this catches up. crypto is already down by alot so they are moving their money into crypto while its low. what happens when billions of dollars go into crypto the same time? prices go up. this is all organized by the rich they work together to control the market. after that market goes up they will cash out making their millions of dollars and then prices will go down again from the mass sale they do. classic pump and dump on a world wide rich man / government organized structure. crypto always seems go go down after the stock market does. After they put their money in crypto and start riding the wave up they will watch the stock market. as soon as it starts to dip on the crash that is coming you will see them start to pull their funds out of crypto to cash out making their millions and then stock market and crypto will be in the toilet and their money is safe in the bank after the cash out. once it all crashes they will take this money in the banks and buy up the stock market & crypto again. its all organized manipulation. and every single time this happens these guys increase their power and how many shares they own of the companies. Now getting to the cards. well when everyones goverment payments are halted to pay the national debt to keep from defaulting on loans they wont have money to spend on cards. market will drop. businesses will lay people off cause they are selling less. and it will domino into a great depression. nothing we can do about it its all cause the national debt. its a matter of time not if. and i think it will start in the next 3-6 months. This is why nancy polosy sold most of her stocks in the last month. she knows. as well as other politicians and billionaires that hold stocks. they all been selling in the last month spite it being at a low point. cause they know its going lower. they are using insider trading.

Hot take Timmy here: IMO, card shops are going under because they suck. I'm being 100% serious. I just started playing Magic again (and got a FNB blitz deck), and went to local game store. The staff couldn't care less, the store was super dark, and the only way to look at singles of commons or uncommons was online. If I wanted to be in a dark room looking at cards on a screen, I'd be at home. I went tona few others and it was the same story. Card shops don't care about the in shop experience; they only care about selling singles and competing with other online retailers and card shops. Card shops are more than capable of keeping the lights on and making profit if the shop was fun to go to and they had hospitable staff. I genuinely don't want to hear any excuses or defense for these places because they're all perfectly capable of making their store better and it wouldn't cost them a dime. Most of them were able to pull it off a decade ago.

Rudy, do you even have a scenario where the total amount of players / collectors / investors are shrinking and permanently lower? aka permanent less demand, I have seen many high rollers quit mtg here in Europe after more than 2 decades I doubt they replaced by new players. Also MTG Arena reduce the demand of real cards. Every online dollar/ euro in mtg is 1 less in cardboard.

Thematically I loved SNC. The number of commanders that inspired me were higher in this set than any other single set last year. Jinnie Fay, Ognis, Falco, Jetmir & Halo fountain, Henzie, all were fast, fun, and good clean magic.

i was playing MTG back in 04 with Champions of Kamigawa so i was hearing they re cheap that there price didnt go up much over the years and now i check and find a box for 1-2k single boosters 50$ .... is this a scam is the price right ?

Sorry, but the thing about, "boxes are @$120 and if 30 boxes sell they'll be at $150" stuff isn't how it works with newer product. When those $120 boxes move and prices climb up to $130-135, people who weren't in the market to sell then become compelled to, because the profits become appealing to them. Then dozens more boxes enter the market at $130-135. It's not a very rare product, and there's a considerable amount more of them being held compared to Silver or Bronze Age sealed boxes, like OG Innistrad, Ixalan, or Return to Return to Return to Guilds of Ravnica's Basement's Goldfish's Ex's Hot Tub.

I recently just bought 8 booster boxes of new capenna and I'm going to be buying more... I also just bought 4 boxes of kamigawa...I got a total of 30 miss cut cards from the boxes I already opened...which set from this year do yall think is going to drive up the original set costs

Why am I seeing Baldurs Gate draft booster boxes for $95 shipped, and not like $115 as you stated?

I legitimately don’t understand why anybody would want to purchase new product at release. If it’s bad..they’ll dump it on Amazon. If it’s good they turn the printers back on and flood the market with a million pallets. There is no situation where you will rewarded for purchasing at release. So why do it?

When I go grocery shopping or general shopping at Walmart, Target, and GameStop, I see that they have stopped carrying the new product at Target and GameStop, and Walmart has a much smaller shelf space of it with only commander decks and Dominaria remastered. Is it only me or are even big box distributors declining the new stuff? I believe that it's a third party tcg distribution company (like MJ holdings) that comes in and sets up the displays for some of these stores and decides to set them for clearance, similar to 3rd party bread distributors for Wonder bread and Sara Lee.

You can buy 30 CBs of almost anything on Amazon. TCG does not tell the whole story. There is still a huge amount of time needed to correct 2021/22’s crappy sets.

At this point isn't it worth it to break Streets of Copacabana collector boxes and sell the singles? With the 5 triomes, 4 bosses, Ledger Shredder (rare, not mythic) and a few guilded foils don't those come out profitable? There isn't a single card in there that pay for half the box anymore but the average looks pretty nice. Anybody done the math on that?
