Olaine Chess spring, rapid Tournament Blitz chess and rapid chess video. Live blitz and rapid chess. IM Rosen Eric - GM Miezis Normunds, London system, Rapid chess
Highly instructive on how to take apart a stonewall setup vs. the "system"...c4...cxd5...g4...then the crushing e4. I will memorize this game surely. At move 8 black's center certainly looked formidable...but by move 20 it was completely eviscerated.
oh yeah...! Played the London wonderfully. Good sense of piece placement and timing. Black couldn't get anything going in this one. I'd like to see more of IM Eric Rosens' games.
What a player man with white pieces?Proper chess without castle but position was absolutely fine & there was reason behind every move he made.fantastic
Great game and nicely played by White. The combination starting with e4 (at 13.19) not only won a pawn but also wrecked Black's position. White must have seen this combination possibility some moves earlier to prepare for it!
At 20:39 Re2. Am I kissing something? He could have gotten a bishop scott free. Depending on where the black king was placed after words a nice fork with Ng7 could have been possible taking the white Rook after
I far prefer the straight-up 5-minute time control. None of this "add a few seconds when I move" nonsense. Since I was first introduced to 5-minute chess, I've been saying "THIS is a sport that can grab a lot of attention and new players to the game." I think it was Anand, who said, "In a slow game, most of the time I'm daydreaming or checking out the pretty girl across the room. But in blitz, my attention is 100% on the board the entire game." or words to that effect. I really like seeing live blitz games, but I'd rather just see the regular 5-minute time control. To me, 5-minute is perfect. 3-minute is too short (Papa Bear's Porridge) and 10-minute is too long (Mama Bear's Porridge). I know others enjoy other variations, like Count-Down, etc. I'm OK with the slow games. Most of the tournaments I've played it was 40-in-90, with game-60 if the game went past the first time control. I was never anything special. Just played a lot of 5-minute against 2000-ish-rated friends of mine. My BEST friend and I would go on fishing trips and best-of-7 speed after dinner would determine who got White, first, for our slow games. He's passed on, now, and I'm too decrepit to wade out into the middle of the rivers. Those were good times.
10:17 He played Kf1 so he could step off the e-file because he wanted to play e3-e4, and with the king on e1/e2 it would be dangerous. Also doubling rooks on the h-file wouldn't be that powerful and it takes a lot of time- it is better to go for the center plan e3-e4 than the wing plan Rch1
