I saw Anthony Fantano at a whole foods in Wolcott yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. If I could come up with a genre for Imagine Dragons it would be something like “post-production rock”. There’s something that bothers me about the fact that this music would not work on any level if you tried to play it with regular instruments in a real world situation, without all the massive post-production involved. They say a good song should work on vocals and an acoustic guitar or piano, and a lot of good modern electro-pop songs would. Most Imagine Dragons songs, I don’t think so.
