Being from Cleveland, I've personally seen J.R. do alot of great things in the inner city, with 100% no media coverage. Real good dude with a BIG HEART.
He's got the whole package. He's might be the greatest bad shot taker ever. He'll shoot fade away 3s that'll make you yell at the TV but then they end up going in. Dude was incredible.
I went to school with Jr, I was freshman at Benedict's in Newark, New Jersey, when he was a senior, dude was pulling up from half court on the regular, 360 dunks, he was the most athletic and talented player of his class. He could've been an all star had he had the right coach/team/guidance....he was raw, but nd naturally talented
Jr.Smith was always like a Ricky Davis up grade and bigger john starks with underrated handles and 1on1 skills. Iverson getting traded to Denver and that big brawl stunted Jr.smiths growth to being a allstar in Denver. BECAUSE Iverson came in and they moved JR to the 6th man but he was just blowing up
JR was/is a phenomenal talent that played well/complemented other talented stars, which might have made some not recognize his value. He has had a sensational career that only a fool wouldn't admire. Salute.
Naw Tristan worked for his contract and he was there from the beginning. Tristan grinded. JR had TALENT. Not saying JR didn’t grind, but Tristan came into the league and improved every single year and transitioned into a viable paint presence.
@@crazycriz5000 yea but I don’t think that’s enough to pay him more than jr smith.. he already had an established and solid career with the nuggets and Knicks.. and at one point, Tristan was looking big for nothing.. getting outrebounded by point guard
@@sparkz11223 But if u gonna knock him u gotta give him credit cause he outrebounded guys he shouldn’t have also. I literally watched Tristan get a rebound through 3 guys. He got sooo many extra possessions for the Cavs and he stayed ready. As talented as JR was, he was inconsistent at times. Tristan was reliable. You can’t really compare their contracts and what they were getting paid because they played different positions and had 2 completely different roles for the team so its unfair to both of them to compare one with the other.
Everyone forgets that J.R. was supposed to be the Crown Jewel of a UNC recruiting class, but he went Pro instead. He always had a solid all around game, and NEVER saw a shot he didn't like!😂😂😂 I'd take Shump & J.R. right now over Russ. Both are a better fit for LeBron & A.D., since A.D. won't step up into the LEAD DOG role.
@@ItDontCost2ShowLuv619 when the last time he went 2 the finals / and I guarantee it didn’t matter if he forgot the score they was still losing that game against the warriors
When Iman said he played with him on video games ,i felt that. I remember 2k 14 my career. When the Gm asked me who we should add to the roster it was always jr. He could dunk and was awesome on iso too.
As a Nuggets fan I can tell you JR is hella underrated. He took logo threes before it was cool. George Karl would bench him and people would say he takes bad shots now look at the league 🤦♂️ AND he could dunk on your head too
I saw in person JR in his second game as a knick catch a lob from boom dizzle from half court and it was the most hype shit I’ve ever seen in person. The tail end of that Jeremy Lin run right before the all star break
I was just talking about this he’s hit some of the most insane shots is crazy he was the bail out man for the cavs he was like Klay in the regards that if you pass it to him he was most likely going to shoot it no matter where he caught it shame he couldn’t bounce back from that finals mistake
People forgot how nice jr was in Denver and New York… had handles was a shooter could run pick and roll and could hop out the gym.. Cleveland forced into that stand in a corner and shoot 3 and D role that sucks but he excelled at it and got a chip
He is genuinely one of my favorite players. Him and Big Z. Both incredible at their role at the time, JR more so, but got to give love to the tall skilled centers back in the early 00’s before it was popular
A lot of ppl don’t even realize how athletic smith actually is. If he had some old heads around him at the start there’s no telling what he actually could have been. Dude has everything in his package.
@@Jukeboxster George Karl held him back especially in the playoffs. JR dropped buckets but they still didn't want to play him until they really needed him.
@@Jukeboxster not what he meant lol. He never got the chance to develop as one of the focal points. Hornets traded him his sophomore year over off the court issues and he’s had that rep since
@@freddycalipari4242bro that's exactly what I meant he came into the league straight out of high school talented but immature and I don't think his early coaches took the time to develop him so he just did whatever and had this bad stigma attached to him but the guy could do it all offensively it just took time for him to become a professional
JR was more frustrating than anything because he always had those games that flashed massive potential then follow it up with beyond head scratching games that make you say "Bro....wtf you out there doing?"
The most important thing he said players got paid more being an good guy. Kwane said the same thing. Not stats. Kwane and tyrus Thomas same stats 30 million different in salary.
When he said people got paid because they are a good guy for some reason Evan Turner came to mind. Solid but I think he once signed for 70-80Ms! In no world is he more talented than JR Smith!
Facts , social media put a bad light on his late career but jr smith could fuckin ball….go watch those Denver days and early knicks games. And Shump is one of those people with a talent for everything , if he started a pod or show right now it’d be successful.
G I’m so glad he touched on this topic and was sensitive about it cause I say it all the time. Mfs play J.R like he’s a goofy and he’s not. He really was and still is THAT.
I remember a comment of someone who was at a laker's practice and the thing he remembered most was watching JR absolutely destroy everyone, he was unguardable
I understand what you're saying but it wasn't the media that got a rebound in the closing seconds of the NBA Finals and didn't realize what the situation was. It's easy to blame the media for everything but some of it was JR too.
@@gregoryharlston0602 so one play defines a person’s career? Imagine if one mistake at work was the definition of your entire career? Think about how stupid what you what just said sounds and how the media plays these games with some of these athletes.
@@gregoryharlston0602 how about you direct that fake hate toward George hill who choked at the free throw line , ty lue who was the head coach and didn’t even know they had a timeout, and what about the refs who didn’t pay attention to lebron when he was calling for a timeout
Jr had a arguably the best in game dunk highlights ever the reverse oop on the knicks and can’t forget how he literally used someone as a stepping stone(not figuratively literally) for the and 1 poster idk casuals will remeber him for the finals play real fans know him in the mid 2000s-2010 jr was a different breed
