i’m in awe! this is ( imo) one of the best rock songs of all time! Take a moment to find and read the lyrics as they are amazing. The rhyming and timing! Just brilliant! And Imelda’s voice OMG! Check out her performance of this song on the Graham Norton show. She should win an award just for the vocal performance let alone anything else! Just brilliant. Taylor Swift look, listen and learn because THIS is how it’s done! The words of this song should be put up on our tv screens everyday.
Dear Ms. May, Thank you for being a powerful voice who helped make my wedding wonderful. I found this just an hour after being proposed to (I wanted to show off your rockabilly stuff). My husband fell in love with this song and we walked the aisle while it was playing. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. You keep doing what you want to do. And I hope we hear more from you, whatever that be. I love your rockabilly stuff, but you've found some new things to try, and they're still powerful. Keep enjoying your life, please, and if you ever find yourself in southern Indiana, we'll buy you a drink.
Loved Cambridge gig recently - seeing her for 3rd time after 1st seeing her live with Junction Cambridge many years ago. Looking forward to Black Deer Festival next.....
Ms. May's song captures the essence of what "love" really is. Long, long ago when I was a child "love" invoked images of openly affectionate, sticky-sweet and kind of embarrassing behavior between two people. Today, I see love is much more than that - love is also respect, acceptance and empathy. I think "Made to Love" correctly defines the word.
Absolutely extraordinary!! I've been blinded by the light, I've been swept up by the anger and the fury of this beautiful woman!! And after all, like she says, is she John Lennon reincarnated? (All you need is love rewritten after 44 years...) Greetings from Italy. P.S. Watch the live performance!
Made To Love Is a beautiful song from an incredible album really sensational and what a gorgeous video for it. Absolutely love it and the fantastic voice of Imelda May ❤🥰🙌💐
I thought I couldn't love you anymore, Imelda, and then you sang "I'm Irish, I'm Palestinian" and you just blew my mind!!! I'm Irish and I love Palestine too. what a sensational record and performance. BTW, I love Ronnie too!
I'm a little embarrassed to say I just recently discovered Imelda May. Don't be too hard on me though, corporate American radio is at least partially responsible. Luckily I heard Just One Kiss on Sirius and knew immediately I was listening to the best rock song I'd heard in ages. 11 Past the Hour is a masterpiece, diverse, cutting edge and committed, every song a gem. I can't decide if I prefer the studio or live version of Don't Let Me Stand On My Own. Now please book some US dates.
Imelda is 46 years old, so calling her a girl is stretching the term a bit. She's been performing for 30 years; her first album came out in 2003. I don't know what part of the world you're from, but I guess Irish singers don't get the worldwide exposure they deserve. She certainly doesn't get much exposure in the US. She really is a fantastic talent.
My favourite Imelda song is ‘ Iwish I had Someone to Love Me’ Performed on RTE with the Dubliners. I have no idea why the only version of it seems to be on You Tube
Of course ... one CD and one DVD "Jeff Beck Rock'n'Roll Party Honoring Les Paul" 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎺🥁🎸 de 2011 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠 With almost ten songs with Jeff 🎸 and Imelda🌹 on the DVD...
Imelda Mae Come walk with me Please talk to me Then take my open hand Together in the harbour light Amidst the drifted sands The stars upon this cloudless night Are bright in fine display They make your eyes glint with delight As we go upon our way The singing from the harbour inn Brings music to our ears It’s on our way so we’ll pop in To share in hearty cheer Outside the waves are lapping At the shingle and the sand Whilst you and I with spirits high Are sitting hand in hand ‘twas in this inn that we first met When first I saw your face And I gave gentle sweet caress Now it’s our favourite place How I love our evening stroll Across the sandy bay To Gaelic sound I pledge my love To you Imelda Mae Come walk with me Please talk to me Though decades have passed by My sweet Imelda may I love you ‘til the day I die We’ll leave a plaque upon a seat That looks across the bay Inscribed on it for all to see “Finbar loves Imelda Mae”….. “Joey Joe McGuire” 1st May 2021
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! My fave part of the song is the whole 'I'm....'-part all the way thru to the end where builds up to the orgasmic I'm Love I'm Love I'm Love explosion. Love it.
The symbolism could have meant something more positive (like the moon could have represented the feminine energy or sth like that), but with the woke crap, M Franco, the trans thing, I think there's no doubt. It's sad to see that a song about love is so distorted.
Oh dear emelda's gone too same same mainstream . Love her voice and early stuff ! I think that her music s gone soft she needs to find her balls and get back to what she's good at = more Fire ! 😊
