Found out this when I went to get a key cut for my 2002 van and he said "just for the doors, or the ignition too?". Showed me all the codes on his machine.
No. You would need to completely rebuild the circuitry that powers the computer controlling the engine. Without the proper integrated activation code from the key fob, the engine simply will not engage. Engineers have gone to great lengths to ensure the system cannot be bypassed; it's all to ensure vehicle security.
Everyone should stand up and demand the right to have no immobilizer on their new car if they choose. Now instead of your car getting hot wired and stolen they break in and shoot you and take the key. Also they significantly increase the likelihood of your car being taken straight to the scrap yard. Wish i could buy a new car without one. These immobilizers are being forced on us and it's not cool at all.
Faulty Immobiliser. Advance auto want $2000 for a "new computer". Extortion? I am a pensioner and have NO car for a month with not cheaper remedy. Legalised Robbery. Ban them!
My Key should start My car and it should keep running. A widespread fault. To Hades with Kia and all Immobilisers. What about my rights? No XMS mass/ No car. :-(
The immobiliser screwed up on my car and wouldn't work until I tried to reset it. Then it worked. Pretty annoying if u break ur key and can't start it with a replacement tho
@@tftfxr56 what's worse is if you keep your car real nice then something happens to the engine and need to replace it. Get the new engine & get it installed and all to have it never run because it don't want to be programmed to be able to match for some reason. I heard a guy complaining about this happening & the dealership couldn't figure it out yet still charged just to shrug their shoulders.
I hate these dam Immobiliser extortion systems also.! government's bosses (ins Industry) and auto industry lobby and motorists pay and lose. Stuff these thieves!
