The Impala project is moving along slowly but surely. Today I dropped the fuel tank to change the pump and sending unit. The tank was filthy so I cleaned it out and reinstalled everything. I finally heard this car fire up for the first time.

Chevy had the perfect chance to make an access hole in the trunk back at the factory to make this job easier but we gotta do it the hard way, and that's no light tank either. thanks for the video

Thank you I appreciate it! The Impala work will begin again in May. My "winter project" is the C20 and it ended up taking longer and being more work than I thought it would've been. The Impala content will be back soon. I love that car and for the foreseeable future it ain't going nowhere.

Did you get a chance to replace the hose that was crumbling, if so what did you use for the replacement?

Yes I did. That hose is for the evap system. I used 5/16 fuel hose. Fuel hose is usually for carburetors and low pressure. The evap system only goes up to 1 or 2 PSI. Fuel line hose is usually for Fuel injection and is for alot higher pressure. Save some money and get the carburetor stuff for the fuel vapors.

@@jeyweb4236 Turn the key to the on position before starting. You'll hear the fuel pump prime the system for 3 seconds. Then shut off. Do that twice before starting.

On the new pump it comes with 2 plastic clips are those just trash?

If you are reusing the sending unit I think you'll need them to secure the new pump in the old housing

The sending unit just drops in the tank and sticks out about an inch from the top because it has a spring. You push it down and hold it down for the last inch then install the lock ring at the top of the tank. I apologize for not being able to capture the whole process on film. If you watch the Yukon fuel pump video I explain the process better.

Great video! Back in 2012 my dad's 94 caprice with the b4u package had it's fuel pump & sending unit take a crap. He couldn't get a replacement for a month or so because there wasn't any at the time but he finally did and got that puppy running. 11 years later she still burns rubber on both rear wheels lol. They don't make them like they used too.

The gas in the tank was about a week old. I put 5 gallons in it when I bought it to see if it would start. It didn't. I ended up saving that gas for my lawn mower.
