Put these on an F800gs and did a lot of km's on outback rough sealed and dirt roads. Very happy with grip and corner transition through twisties,rhey inspire confidence like a quality road biased tyre. The best thing is they really last a long time.

Nice tire, but unfortunately, that front end grip issue could be a problem, especially when the bike is loaded down with gear. But, the grip of the rear is pretty impressive. Thanks Kyle, Good review.

Yes, for guys who are not gonna push their vehicles… It really is a good tire. But for those who want to push limits I would have to recommend different options

Kyle I love watching your videos! I would love to see a review of the MotoZ Tractionato Desrt H/T vs The RallZ. I would love to hear your opinion on which grips better in in different areas. Also life expectancy of both. I really prefer off-road grip and will just take it easy on the throttle while I’m on the road. As a sidenote I would also love to hear your opinion of the desert HT versus the Perelli scorpion
@manybikes
@manybikes 4 года назад
Thanks for watching! The Desert HT is an amazing tire. It was the tire I was running just before I “dialed in the format” for these tire reviews. Check the 8:25 mark of this video: Why Adventure Bikes Rule! And... Fresh Fruit at Arnott Farms ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lbbleTtvxbQ.html I discuss the Desert HT as they were on my 1190 Adv R. Desert HT vs. the Pirelli Scorpion ... the Scorpion feels like a full knobby “soft dirt bike tire” and performs amazing in the dirt. It should... it’s 95% dirt rated. I was not impressed on the street at all... the Desert HT is planted into the street and works well except for the front tire on our CA rain grooves - that was sketchy! I’ll get another set of the HT’s and will properly test them in my standard format. Cheers! -Kyle

Hi Kyle. Why did you disable the ABS? Is it a thing to do on gravel roads, rocky terrain etc?
@manybikes
@manybikes 4 года назад
Yes, when I ride off-road I do disable all of the helpers. ABS can be helpful sometimes Offroad but most of the time it was a hindrance. Especially if you’re coming down a very rocky steep section there is no way to lock up the rear and that can get sketchy! Basically you just keep gaining speed instead of slowing down

Surprised your title has these as 80/20 as most call it 70/30. Main question...thoughts on the 705 vs 804/805 for street performance? My R1200GSA has had TKC80, AX41 and Pirelli Scorp Rally knobbies and looking for something I can push a bit harder on street yet not give up much on gravel/dirt. Dunlop Missions ade the best I know...but not in budget. :-)
@manybikes
@manybikes 4 года назад
Good points... the title has been updated. I coined them 80/20 tires as that’s how they “really handle.” There actually many 80/20 tires that handle dirt better than this 30% dirt tire. Wow, you have run all the knobbies! The E804/E805 will run “just like” the TKC80 tires. They are very similar... but with a slightly harder (more slippery) compound. For more street go the 705. For more dirt, go the E804/E805.
@manybikes
@manybikes 4 года назад
Oh... and if you can save up some cash... the Dunlop TrailMax Mission will be your best tire. It’s better on the street than the 705 and as good in the dirt as the E804/E805. NOTE: the Mission will have Double the mileage life of the Shinkos... so consider that in the equation. Cheers, Kyle

@@manybikes your old crew at ChapMoto still have those old stock Dunlop Trailsmarts for cheap...just thinking that 90/10 won't cut it on gravel/dry dirt.

Another great video:-) so I’m planning a Colorado BDR next summer. I’m running the Dunlop Mission per your suggestion and I’m loving them! The BDR website suggests some pretty aggressive tires. What would you suggest for a loaded 1250GSA that would be aggressive & handle the load? Peace brother! You are looking good out there!!!
@manybikes
@manybikes 4 года назад
Dude… The Colorado BDR is amazing. I personally would run the MOTOZ Are a LLZ tire in the rear. When it comes to the front tire it just depends on how aggressive you want to go. I would actually recommend the Dunlop mission tire for the front as it is aggressive and will perform amazingly on the street. But if you want to go a little more aggressive in the front I would match your front tire with that rear Rallz tire. That is what I would personally run.

Great review! Running the STR Rally on my Tenere 700 and loved them the last 5,000 miles. Would the STR be a better tire on the T7 vs the Shinko 705 for purely street riding focusing on California canyons and street touring? not running the Tenere off road much at all now! thanks!
@manybikes
@manybikes 6 месяцев назад
Thanks for the inquiry! Stick with the STR set for your type of riding or... run the STR front and Continental TKC70 Rocks rear if you want to change it up a bit. Both are great.

Kyle, Thanks for your review on this tire. I have a 2020 Husqvarna 701 Supermoto that I enjoy taking on the fireroads from time to time, and wanted to know if this tire will be up to the task. Being in SoCal, I ride to the trails hence the 80/20 sounding like an attractive option. 1. It gets hot here, and there’s been reports that the laminate on the tire becomes separated under hot temperatures causing the tire to bubble. Have you heard anything concerning that? 2. I’ve heard that wet performance is sub optimal, any opinion? 3. I’m thinking of going the TKC70 route as well. Which tire would you choose? Any other suggestions? Front tire size for my bike seems to be somewhat limited. Thanks for any insight!

Sorry for my delay in responding! Don't know how I missed this comment... my apologies. I too live in SoCal and have now ridden this tire to Death Valley when it was 120 degrees. I did not have any problems with the tire. I would recommend the TKC70Rocks tire over this one for the application you want to use it for... Just saying...

@@manybikes Thanks Kyle, agree you videos your details, knowledge and feedback are really insightful and appreciate all the work you do. With your comments on the Rocks over the Shinko based on the riding RocketSoldier described would you pair it with the Shinko 705 front/ Shinko 804 front or TKC 70? Riding is approximately 70 road 30 off road mostly gravel/fire trail, with some hill climbs/ river crossings and baby heads. Thank you
@manybikes
@manybikes 2 года назад
@@pauljordan6016 I think the TKC70 Rocks is best paired with a more knobby front tire. I would not hesitate running a Shinko 804, TKC 80, AX41 or even if you want more street performance the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tire.

@@manybikes Thank you. You are a LEGEND. I would run the Dunlop Trailmax base on your feedback in its review. The challenge is stock availability in Australia - no front tyres and no ETA for arrival at this stage. Thanks again. Keep riding. Keep smiling and stay safe.

So I finally got these mounted on my 19' CBX. Not really impressed. The wet pavement performance is not good and almost scary. Off road is decent and I guess dry pavement is decent too. Im actually thinking about pulling these off and going with something different, but not sure at this point. Put it this way, my 47hp bike will spin the back tire on wet pavement in first gear with 30 psi.
@Yalemannec
@Yalemannec 4 года назад
Just recently mounted mine on my 16 CBX. Thats unfortunate to hear about how they handle on wet pavement, though I don't have to worry about it too much in SoCal. I can definitely feel how easy the bike leans like you said in your video too.
@manybikes
@manybikes 4 года назад
Yeah... sorry to hear this!!! I think they will be a good tire for the “average ADV rider” who doesn’t push it... For guys who like the throttle, who like to lean and who like to ride in all conditions... I’d have a different recommendation for that rider. How aggressive of a tire are you looking to mount?

I would suggest the 804 in the front. It works well on the road and is great off-road.
