You saw your plug! Hopefully I got it right. Full disclosure, I shot this video multiple times and was having issues with my technology. I can't remember if I shouted out you and your writing in this take or a previous one.
I pay $20 each on VinSyn and Severin and others. I go to a place in New Hampshire that sells boutique Blu Rays and since it's in the "Live Free Or Die'" state there is no sales tax. That makes it much easier to do the totals in my head. I also get them on Monday nights at midnight so we get them when they just come out.
They make deals with the companies. Vinegar Syndrome isn't afraid to make deals. They had a table every yesr at Rock And Shock, a convention here in Masschusetts. I c

If you haven't then highly recommend it, an excellent western and he (and Joaquin Phoenix) gives a brilliantly layered performance!
@@DungeonStudio Im actually looking for a region free Ultra HD player. I know Ultra HD blu-ray does not have any region locks, but when playing regular blu-rays it kicks in. I really like the upscaling features on these Ultra HD players (and also the tone mapping when using HDR on a projector), so it would be nice to have one. Especially if it was the high-end Panasonic model that came out a while back.

Very much looking forward to Hard Eight. I love all of Paul Thomas Anderson's films but sort of missed out on Hard Eight. Odd how no American or European publisher released this title earlier.
Man danger diabolic that is the one of three films that shout factory has never gotten their hands on to complete Mystery Science Theater 3000 it's the last episode too. As an mst3k fan you keep track of licenses it's funny how that works for instance shout factory no longer owns the Gammera license into the five movies that they did. Never seen it, but I want to. There's an old burned-on-demand DVD from Universal and there is a Blu-ray in Europe, though I'm not sure it's legally licensed. Since Mill Creek Entertainment has a deal with Universal for those deep catalog titles, maybe one day soon we can get a Tony Curtis collection that includes The Black Shield of Falsworth. I believe it could also come from Kino Lorber.
I follow viavision on Facebook for their latest releases. I got war of the world's. I want the 4400 on Blu-ray. They sell a lot of these here in Australia in JB hifi.
Love the passion for film but I am starting to think the passion I am seeing more and more for format and packaging is starting to supersede the films themselves and rational and financial practicality. Of course, it's silly to believe one can dictate to others what they should collect. I don't want to pretend to so so, however, when a "Ghost Breakers" Blu-ray is released in such a format long before so many significantly more relevant and visually deserving films, I am afraid we have gone down a worrisome rabbit hole. Especially, when you consider the Bob Hope Collection on DVD offers more than satisfactory transfers of both films, (along with 8 other films) and can also be had for around $5-10. When people are bypassing Blu-ray deals because it lacks a slip-cover or need a 4k transfer of HOME ALONE (really?), we are entering that same realm of graded baseball cards and comics. It reduces the hobby to a gimmick and the films sort of become secondary.
First you say packaging has overtaken the appreciation of the films themselves, but then you complain about a deep cut like The Ghost Breakers and say "DVD was good enough." Those sentiments seem to be antithetical. We're living in a WONDERFUL era for film preservation. Yes, packaging is used to appeal to the ever-shrinking market of physical media enthusiasts. Yes, some collectors (many of them here on RU-vid) have made it more about collecting than their passion or interest in film, but certainly not everyone (hi!), and it's a fact that there have never been more releases from the studio vaults that at any other time in film history. We're blessed. Truly. If you've got a wish list of films you think have been overlooked, this would be a good place to draw attention to them, as companies are watching to see what fans are interested in. But we must also remember, movies have to sell. That's why Home Alone (one of the most financially successful films of all time) gets a 4K. That's why Ghost Breakers, a movie many classic film fans adore, gets the lavish treatment it has. The balance between art and commerce is not always easy to achieve, but the Imprint label seems to have really found a way to serve film history AND the film collector at the same time.
If it's the original PS2 console that first came out (the SCHP30003) then no, they couldn't play DVD's. However, newer models such as, (the V5 or V6 SCHP30003R), were able to play DVD's. Of course, if the DVD's are region locked, then they obviously won't work.
Your comment isn't clear. Are you saying in Australia, "via" rhymes with "bye-ah?" Interesting that nobody from the company would care to correct my pronunciation.
I didn't think it was that bad. It's just old. Probably struck from the early days of HD, circa 15 years ago, maybe more. The soft-gauze look that was popular in the 1970s doesn't help things, but for me, I thought it was fine. These transfers come directly from the studio, and it's probably as good as we're ever going to get, since these titles are such deep cuts. It would be great to see all the studios giving their catalogs 4K restorations, but that's expensive and these movies are way too obscure to be profitable, unfortunately.
