I've tested a few ways on how to improve the audio recording when flying the Mavic 2 Pro using the Smart Controller. The results are really surprising!

Good video and I subbed. The built in mic is aweful. I don't know how they put such a terrible mic in an expensive controller.

The Smart Controller is almost perfect! Too bad the built-in mic sounds like it's at the bottom of the ocean. The lavaliere to USB-A seemed to be the best. Thanks for testing!

How do you even use the built-in microphone anyway? I can’t find the option

I don't think there is an option, it records when I enable local cache, and doing screen recording on the smart controller

Hi Alan, I am using the USB-A with a sound blaster PLAY! 3 as you are, with a lavalier mic. I can't seem to get any of my mic input when recording with the same setup you are. Do you mind sharing your tips on recording to video cache with external audio?

hi Ryan! did you enable "Record Audio with Video Cache" found under "General Settings"? Click on the 3-dots at the top right, then click the 3-dots at the bottom to get to the "General Settings", check if it's enabled. Hope it helps and please subscribe :)

@@alangadgets Is this the "General Settings" within the DJI Go app or just in the controller? I'm recording screen recordings for tests without connecting to the drone.

Oh I see, screen recording is actually on the Android which is not what I did in the video. The use case in the video is using DJI Go App recording from the drone.

Sorry for the misunderstanding but I have not tried the screen recording on Android on the controller

@@alangadgets Not a problem. I ask because new models such as the Mavic Air 2 only support the DJI Fly app and not DJI Go. So recording with voiceover in the cache is a little tricky. As far as screen recording goes, there's decent quality using the sound blaster in the 'headset' port not the 'microphone' port, and nothing in the latter. I'm excited to try it out with recording with the drone, instead of only screen recording tests.

@@MauroTandoi I've discovered from my tests that the Record app on the smart controller only uses the built-in mic input. so even if you have any sort of external mic it won't work. what I did to work around that is simply install another screen recorder app and it was able to use the external mic. you could use the browser to download and install the Amazon App store onto the controller, then install a Screen Recorder app. I'll be coming out with a tutorial video on this soon. if you find this helpful, please subscribe if you haven't already 😁
