This is a RapidAir 1/2" tubing system made to distribute compressed air through out your shop. I set up my system different than how RapidAir suggested because I didn't want trapped water at the air drop outlets. Take a look and hopefully this will give you some good ideas. I used 1/2 regulators and filters at the compressor and at the start of the RapidAir system. All of the drops have a 3/8 filter regulator.

I thought I was bad...Very clean install! Some people don't understand, If you are going to do it, make it as nice as you can. In the years to come, it will be still worth something. Very well done!

Thanks! Sometimes it's good to be bad 😃

Me too! Nice to know others are living with the same condition I suffer from😂. This video helped me proceed with my system. I have recently rebuilt a Champion compressor and am excited to finish up this long overdue piece of my shop.

Thanks for your video. I ended up just buying the line and the specific RapidAir fittings I needed and sourced everything else elsewhere. Wanted filter/regulators at each drop. Works great.

Excellent video. I just purchased the same Rapidair kit, but have not received it yet. To the point and lots of great tips for the install. Thanks and well done!

Man, thank you so much! Just got my kit, and i had questions right away about the elbows. As someone who has studied flow my whole life, i just started scratching my head. Not now~!~ Glad to know the HF filter/regulators work. It's hit or miss on some stuff there. I can't wait to replace the jack leg set up i have now with a semi-pro set up, again thanks.

dean jordan thanks for watching and glad the information was useful. I have had to replace one HF bowl that started leaking. I think having the ball valves at each regulator and keeping them shut off keeps the pressure off of them and helps them last.

Nice ! Thinking on buying this system, looking for videos and learning the do's and don'ts ..

im curious if you could explain why you start off saying their elbows restrict air flow, then you use street elbows at every regulator? also wouldnt the blocks that came with the kit been just as easy to install directly to the regulators or is there a difference in size or another issue with the blocks? have been researching this idea and you are the only one offering an alternative. since i had also wanted individual regulators at each drop i wasnt sure if just buying the lines and compression fitting would be all i would need as well since a few people have said they had to buy extra fittings and or plugs for the blocks

bishop york I used street elbows and some 90's, most of which I had on hand. Street elbows offer more flow due to greater radius where the air makes the 90 degree turn and having a larger i.d. I used a couple of 3/8 brass elbows that fit their ball valve that has a 1/4 hole thru the ball in the valve, the quick connects are also your typical 1/4" size. The 3/8 elbows made the connections easy with fewer joints and were bigger than the 1/4" fittings, so no flow loss. The aluminum blocks will trap water, fill up, and pass it on to devices down stream, they also have more joints which increases the potential for air leaks. Filter regulators remove water and don't pass it on. At about 15psi, these self drain. When I'm not using the system, I shut off the air supply and when/if the air leaks out of the system, everything drains itself. Thanks for watching so closely! Great questions.

Love your setup. Working on the exact setup as you have here. Trying to figure out the fittings sizes and regulator sizes that you used. Probably will make more sense after my rapid air kit comes in. Are all of your dryers and regulators from harbor freight? Have you had any issues with them so far?

Brijesh Jagan had to replace the bowl on one of the 1/2" filters when it started leaking. No other issues and wouldn't do anything different. Thanks for watching!

When you're talking about 1/2 and 3/8 fittings in your video, are you talking about npt sizing or regular sae sizing? I'm trying to buy all the fittings on amazon or hd and there's no consistent measuring system. Some are npt some are sae. Thanks!

Where do you get the galvanized 1/4npt to 1/2 reducers?

supervdj all of what you see is standard hardware store stuff. Technically they are "reducer bushings", if I understand which piece you're asking about. Galvanize isn't required, that's all they had when I went to buy the "cross" (4 way) fitting. Thanks for watching!!

is the first regulator hangin on the wall, a 3/8 or 1/2?

Jimmie Gonzalez 1/2. Thanks for watching and good luck with your system. BTW, I saw Tractor Supply has the same system in their brand for less money.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've got only a 1/2 inline filter and a 1/2 filter regulator and 3 3/8 regulators, do you think I will be okay if I Just keep the 1/2 line just as you have hanging off the tank and run the 3/8 coupling from the 4 (Cross) into a 3/8 with another filter?

Jimmie Gonzalez Sounds like you're set up just like my system and it should work just fine!

Just an observation for others to follow your lead - the 4 way and 3 ways that have quick connect couplers also have reducers between them right?
@snaproll94e
@snaproll94e 7 лет назад
Jimmie Gonzalez that is correct, the cross and tee are 1/2 pipe. The large 3/8" quick connect is bushed down to 3/8 pipe. The 1/4" quick connect is bushed down to 1/4 pipe. And the filter regulators at the point of use, are 3/8 pipe. I kept 3/8 pipe fittings on the inlet side and bushed the outlet side down to 1/4 pipe to fit a standard 1/4" quick connect. The 3/8 ball valves end up having the smallest restriction in the system but the hole through them is about 3/8" so they are still larger than the 1/4 quick connects and the smallest restriction is the hole in the fitting on the air tool.
