Today on Hangin With Harv, we're working on some improvements to the original Gatton CNC (the shoestring budget model plans) that I modified and built a few years ago. This is unfortunately going to be a 2 parter as I really wanted to keep some of the explanations that I make throughout the project. I like the idea of a laser for the x y setting. It is always more of a judgement call when setting that.

I've had the same issue with the X axis upper and lower rails being uneven. If I get it snug and tighten the screws down really good, it still works its self loose.

Looking good, Harv! I ran into the same situation with the router mount clamps (not being able to get a screwdriver in there to tighten the screws,) so I replaced the machine screws with regular old hex head bolts. I can get an open end wrench in there to tighten or loosen the router mount plate bolts to tram the router. It works like a charm. Shoot me an e-mail. I have a few other ideas for you - too many for a comment on a RU-vid video, anyway.
