Oh my gosh, I need this! I was so nervous when you started describing it that I had to have a superfriend to accomplish this. Queuing it straight up for tonight's stretching session.
yeah and after that, when you have a loss of pronation your gonna be wondering why the knees and hips begin to internally rotate while you have a loss of range of motion externally and internally.. subtailor neutral is worthless. the ankles has to go from supination to pronation to supiniation. like i said otherwise the knees or hips have to do the force production which means carving knee or anterior pelvic tilt.
I feel like whenever I try to do ankle mobs, my tibia wants to internally rotate and my hips want to swing around laterally, is that okay? I feel like it *should* be all in a line, big toe, calcaneus, knee hip in one saggital line, is that doing too much? Should I worry less?
I had never tried doing that mobilization in that way! That’s a cool and valuable variation that I’m definitely going to try with my patients. Thanks 🙏🏼. And of course, teaching the athlete how to manage themselves is a powerful teaching tool. Love it.
Any other mobs if you feel sharp pain impingement in the joint with this? My L ankle gets stuck with a sharp pain when squatting and using bands hasn’t helped any.
I'm guessing it's because you will reinforce bad motor control habits. You don't want your foot collapsing when squatting, so no point in having it collapsed when mobilizing. You want to mobilize in context to the movements you are going to be performing.
