Troubleshooting BE0, BE4, BE5, and BE7 Alarms
1. Introduction
This SOP provides a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the BE0, BE4, BE5, and BE7 alarms on a Series 5 drive.
2. Procedure
2.1 Enable the Input
For BE0, BE4, BE5 and BE7, an MFDI must be enabled.
Enable the input on a free MFDI terminal.
H01-XX = 58
2.2 Power Up the Drive
If the function for the BE0, BE4, BE5, and BE7 is enabled on a multi-function input, the detection starts immediately at power up of the drive.
2.3 Turn On the Drive
At drive power up, if BE7, the drive will not accept any RUN commands.
2.4 Clear the BE7 Alarm Condition
If one gets a BE7 alarm at power up this could mean that the multi-function input that’s been programmed to generate this condition indicates that the brake is open.
Reference section 6 troubleshooting in the manual.
2.5 Check for BE4 Alarm at Start
If one gets a BE4 alarm at start, this could mean that the brake has not released, or the multi-function input that’s been programmed to generate this condition is not active.
Reference section 6 troubleshooting in the manual.
2.6 Check for BE5 Condition
If the drive goes into a BE5 condition, the holding brake has not mechanically set or the multi-function input that’s been programmed to generate this condition is still active.
It will mimic the BE6 alarm condition by holding the motor at 0 speed (Load Float)
If the VG+ drive goes into a BE5, do not turn power off with the load in the air. The drive will still allow itself to operate.
Reference section 6 troubleshooting in the manual.
3. Conclusion
This SOP provides a comprehensive guide to troubleshoot the BE0, BE4, BE5, and BE7 alarms on a Series 5 drive. Always ensure to follow the steps in order to prevent any mishaps or further complications.
