1. Introduction
This SOP provides a step-by-step guide to set up Electronic Programmable end of travel Limits Switches (EPLS) in the Impulse VG+ Series 5 drive.
2. Procedure
2.1 Understanding the Drive
The Impulse VG+ Series 5 drive can provide EPLS in addition to the multi-function digital input terminals being used for end of travel limit.
2.2 Encoder Feedback
The drive uses motor rotations based on the encoder feedback that’s available with the closed-loop VG+ drive found at monitor mode parameter U01-51.
2.3 Programmable End of Travel Limits
Using the programmable end of travel limits frees up the need for a Rotary limit switch setup. This allows all of the programmable multi-function inputs to be used for other functions than a limit switch input.
2.4 Setting Up the Programmable Limit Switch Function
To set up the programmable limit switch function in the drive, use the C03 parameter group (C03-14, C03-15, C03-20, C03-22, C03-23, C03-26, C03-27) and the monitor mode U01-51 motor rotations.
3. Conclusion
This SOP provides the basic information on how to set up EPLS in the Impulse VG+ Series 5 drive. For further information, see section 5.2.7 in the series 5 manual.
