I installed the Tusk extended shifter, and it worked much better for me with the stock pegs. I just installed the Tusk billet foot pegs and I can't get my bike boots under the shifter. The pegs are much wider than I figured. Now after watching your video I know I should have purchased the IMS pegs at least, and I'll probably install the IMS shifter also if I need be. Thanks for the professional video Tim. Sam.
Personally I find the JNS peg lowering kit to be a better solution for the larger rider, or for riding boots. New mounts move pegs 1" back and 1.5" down to provide great clearance for shifting while leaving shifter inside intended protective case design. Added bonus of lowering 1.5" allows a more natural leg position and provides more room for taller riders while maintaining ground clearance. Upgrade your pegs or keep the padded stock pegs.
You are right. Lowering the pegs does make a big difference for those with longer legs. It really feels much more "roomy" for the rider. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
only thing id add is "borrow" some nail polish from the mrs, and use it to "match mark" where the pinch slot of the shifter meets the shift shaft (just a dot'll do ya). save some head scratching and maybe some "fit and try" time. is 10 minutes of the "job estimate" finding that moon clip after you drop one? lol
I've recently installed the same shifter and am slightly concerned that there is enough flex for it to tap the engine case. Have you noticed anything similar? Granted I have to push it towards the case and not up and down. Just curious. Love your channel!
Hi Ron, Yes mine has a bit of flex side-to-side as well, but it has not been a problem. I think the flex is probably a good thing, so it is not brittle and will break. I have a lot of miles on my shifter and it still feels and works great. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Bought a used klr. Gear lever "nub" was bent in (fall over I'm guessing). Tricky to shift with tiny nub bent forward So I folded the nub, drilled a hole in front of it and added a bolt, 4 lock washers and 10nuts to create a 3" shifter. Tightened it up & wrapped with duct tape. $5 investment. I can speed shift sooooooo much better. *Urban rider
Just order my pets and shifter. Not sure of any other way to send you a message but a video install of the rox risers would be great with proper cable routing.
My IMS hits the frame. Just got it on today. Really has me scratching my head. When shifting from second to first it only goes to nuetral. There's a spot on the frame where it hits. I have a 2011. I sent IMS an email... Really disappointed.
Bikemancody bock - Hey Cody, I have my shifter angled up just a bit. With the IMS foot pegs and my riding boots, I needed to in order to feel comfortable. In that position, I've never had a problem with it touching the frame. So, you may try repositioning it unless that is too high for you to shift properly. Just a thought.
Tim2Wheels when searching for the ims pro series pegs like yours doesn’t seem to be available for my 2015 klr 650 So far only checked amazon and Rocky Mountain .
