Kosmos does not mean elect it means Creation. Jesus took op on Him the curse that came on the whole creation including animals. Such change does not come from Calvin.

We are of course depraved, but not totally since God made us in his image with a heart, a conscience and a will. Job 1:1 proves it, as do Noah aNd Enoch. No one deserves heaven but we were created so we could choose him or the world. Hundreds of OT and NT scriptures testify to this.

He focuses on obedience to what you already understand in the Scriptures and how that leads to more understanding. I honestly didn’t stop believing in Calvinism because someone had a good argument against it. I stopped believing when I started obeying the words of Jesus consistently like a child and then some things just became obvious through what can only be called divine revelation. God reveals Himself to little children and hides himself from the wise and prudent. Calvinism is prudent but it’s not true to the character of God.

If so, how do you parce out Jesus's words in John 3:3: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”? Doesn't "Cannot" means unable to do something? In this context that "something" is obtain salvation/eternal life i.e respond in any way in your own power, UNLESS you are born of the Spirit- which is not in our control according to John 3:8.

@@AlanaL3 That is because they are confused. Many years ago I was told that our theology needs to be examined by others. If we cannot defend it then we must study more. One person I know told me that we should read books we know that we will disagree with so we know the opposing viewpoints or differing viewpoints. Applying James 1:22 will help us to not get far away from where we should be. If we are constantly interacting with people and allowing people to ask us questions that is one of the best things we can do.

Jean, In my opinion, Christ's words and actions while here on earth as recorded in the gospels are a perfect demonstration of God's true love and desire towards all of his creation. Ironically, John Calvin's assumptions about our heavenly father are not to be found among them.

I do not doubt the salvation of anyone claiming faith in Christ, regardless of how confused they may be about how it happened.🤠 What more could the enemy of our soul hope to achieve than cause men, created in God's own image, to doubt their creator truly loves them? My view is that if Satan cannot prevent someone's belief in Christ, and their eternity with God in heaven, the next best thing for him would be to undermine their relationship with our heavenly father while here on earth. And Calvinism has a way of doing that. Those who seek to advance Calvinism do so from a position of having been deceived themselves by others who were also previously deceived. The doctrine is in a perpetual cycle of 'rinse and repeat'. They are earnest in their belief, but they are mistaken. I cannot see it any other way than the doctrine which evolved into Calvinism, and eventually TULIP, was founded on a serious false premise, a lie. And I do not believe it was Augustine or Calvin who are responsible for framing the lie, ... they fell for it.

Don't be depressed about election. Step back and ask the question "What is election". Go listen to Michael Heiser about it. Election to Bible scholars means something other than salvation. Throughout scripture it is used by God to choose an individual or group for service. Specifically to carry the Promise. Israel is clearly elect, even in their unbelieving state. There are no Ba'al worshipers in heaven. Paul was chosen/elected to bring the Gospel to the gentiles. He wasn't elected to believe in Christ. Also, step back and realize that Israel and everyone else didn't believe in western individualism. To them, Isreal was corporately elected as God's people to carry the Promise. Israel believes they are 'corporately elected', not individually. Their election doesn't guarantee their salvation.

@@silveriorebelo2920 it is "possible" that the testimony is accurate. Arminianism is precalvinism. Many of the presuppositions behind the 5 points are taught by accident, so a person reading the Bible with those presuppositions in mind can easily think calvinism is accurate.

@@AlanaL3 When I left my Calvinist church I had one last conversation with the pastor and I brought up all the points that you mentioned in this video. His answer was: "Yes all that you say is true, but we also believe in determinism and there is no human logic that can explain that. In our human minds, it is a contradiction but in God's, it is not. it is a mystery that we have to accept, just the same way we accept the mystery of the trinity".

Hey I don’t really know about Calvinism so I can’t speak, but are you saying Calvinist’s believe Believing in Jesus Christ as The Son Of God is from God on His Elect only? You cannot fully believe that without God choosing you?

Nobody can believe and trust in Jesus unless God decreed before time began to elect you to believe and be saved, and not only this, but He also determined how many and which people would believe. No more and no less than those chosen will believe, because that is wjat He determined. It makes the Gospel not every everyone, not for the world but only for those God chose beforehand. That is what Calvinism teaches

If God wanted all to be saved all would be saved why not give them the gospel or does God not have the Power to save them all. The old covenant was for Israel only. May be you are more Loving than God, and would have stopped the Devil to take the form of a serpent, but annihilated the rebellious Angel. So we all would be in Paradise forever. Or not planted the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil.

His preaching places responsibility on man while his teaching works (Institutes of the Christian Religion, and Concerning the Eternal Predestination of God) places the work of salvation on God alone, from eternity past, and only those He decreed to become saved would become saved, and all others were predestined (reprobated) to eternal damnation. John Calvin writes in his works “...eternal life is not created in equal condition; rather, eternal life is fore-ordained for some, eternal damnation for others.” Also “...we say that God once established by his eternal and unchangeable plan those whom he long before determined once for all to receive into salvation…” and “..salvation is freely offered to some while others are barred from access to it.” Again we find “Hence we maintain that, by his providence, not heaven and earth and inanimate creatures only, but also the counsels and wills of men are so governed as to move exactly in the course which he has destined.” John Calvin, Inst. I.xvi.8. 1539 edition So according to Calvin, our wills are even determined by God so, how can we be morally culpable for our decisions if God controls and set the course of our very will? “The hand of God rules the interior affections no less than it superintends external actions; nor would God have effected by the hand of man what he decreed, unless he worked in their hearts to make them will before they acted.” John Calvin, Concerning the Eternal Predestination of God (tr. J. K. S. Reid) (London, 1961)175f. He later attempts to say that our minds are too finite and stupid (“imbecile”) to comprehend the mystery as to why God would ordain the very sins he forbids us to do. “But where it is a matter of men’s counsels, wills, endeavours, and exertions, there is greater difficulty in seeing how the providence of God rules here too, so that nothing happens but by His assent and that men can deliberately do nothing unless He inspire it.” John Calvin, Concerning the Eternal Predestination of God, pp.171-172 Here Calvin states that God inspires everything men do. Thus God inspires every child (harm), every lie, every act of adultery and every (un-aliving themselves)[parenthesis added for YT sensors since it seems my previous reply comment was not posted]. Accordingly God does not simply allow men to abuse their freedom to do evil-he in fact inspires the very evil men do. I do not say these lightly as this borders on accusing God of these things, but according to Calvin’s own theology and writings on it, this is the exact accusation against God under this particular system. Calvin leaves no wiggle room and yet expects us to resign every single choice of the will to be determined by God, yet God is, somehow, not culpable in making us do evil? It is a married bachelor or square circle. It is not fitting also to ascribe anything evil to God as pointed out already in Scripture, so Calvin himself is going against Scripture on this exact point! It is as if he never read Jeremiah 19:5. As to your second part: "If God wanted all to be saved all would be saved why not give them the gospel or does God not have the Power to save them all" This is a conflation of ideas where the fallacy arises which depends on having a certain ability necessitates full use of said ability. It goes further on, into the "can God make a rock so big even He cannot lift it" kind of thinking. Your thought makes the assumption that if God desires all to be saved, then all WILL be saved. But that begs the question of determinism and full showing of God's abilities to supersede the wills of the creature when God made man in His own image to rule over creation. What is required to rule over creation? Free will, creativity, authority, deliberation, moral ability and freedom to choose independently. We were endowed with these abilities at creation and then fell and lost our authority and freedom to choose independently. This is why we can be called "slaves to sin" and "dead in sin" due to the penalty of eating the fruit of eden was death, not immediately but rather with much patience and forbearance by God to give grace so we may return and not be judged right away and cast from His presence without hope. When God gives people the Gospel through the preaching and sending of the disciples, He is reaching out to those in the darkness with His light "which shines on all men" so they can "taste and see that the LORD is good" and then want Him to free them from their efforts so they can be with Him. This is how we can freely offer the Gospel to everyone and know that they can respond and are culpable for not responding when presented. If God determined it all, then their choices aren't choices since they would not have the ability to choose God unless God gives them the choice in the first place and enables them to respond. Paul tells us in Romans 10: "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." And John in his Gospel: "But these things are also written that you may believe that Yeshua is The Messiah, the Son of God, and when you believe, you shall have eternal life in his name" "The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes." Rom 1:16-17 The Bible is very clear on this point. Man can only believe if he hears, and can only hear if others preach and are sent. This is why the Great commission is so imperative! Every day souls are being lost because they do not hear, and only in situations where there is no Gospel being preached and believers have forsaken the spread of the Gospel and/or are not able to reach others yet, do we find increasing reports of Crist appearing in dreams to people telling them to seek a person out to hear the Gospel, or to believe in Him directly. It is an interesting phenomena if you want to check it out. But in all cases, a person must hear first. It is not "if God wanted it it would happen" that is where one must ignore the command of God and the working and utilization of people to work for Him and prove their obedience to Him through works, not just faith. As to "The Old Covenant was for Israel only" okay...so? It was still extended to anyone who wanted to join themselves to Israel and serve the One True God. All the surrounding nations had people convert and follow God when they heard about Him. Rahab, Ruth, and an ungiven number of Jewish proselytes over the history of the nation. See, each nation was put in their place by God "so that they should seek the Lord; that perhaps they might have groped after Him and found Him. Though doubtless He is not far from each one of us." Acts 17:27 People can seek God, but they need the Gospel which has been given us in order to believe fully and truly.
