Colin was cast as the sixth BBC Doctor Who in 1983, seeing him battle Cybermen, Daleks, Sontarans, Sil and even Kate O’Mara. It was to be a role that would make Colin’s face recognisable all over the world.
Nicola is known for her roles as Peri Brown, from 1984 to 1986, first with Peter Davison, and then with Colin Baker as the Doctor. However, she has also worked with Patrick Troughton the Doctor Who serial The Two Doctors, and Colin Baker, Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy and Jon Pertwee on The Stranger for BBV. #BritSciFi

@@purefoldnz3070 Probably because she herself may not want to come back, her schedule might make her too busy, maybe she's just enjoying where she's at in life right now, A number of fair reasons really.

"They never cast the doctor as someone who's been in doctor who before" Colin was the first, he was Maxell then became the 6th Doctor. Karen Gillian and Peter Capaldi were both in an episode of doctor who prior to being Amy and 12th Doctor respectfully.

If I was looking for a steady girlfriend or even a wife in the mid 80's she would be number 1 in the top 3 types I would look for. This is when Dr Who hit the big time at least as far as beautiful women companions were concerned. Yes there were other female companions that were nice to look at but Nicola was and still is major babeage. She is a 10+ on the Babeometer. I started watching Dr Who in the mid 70's when I was 17, on the University of North Carolina Public TV station when I lived in North Carolina. I had never heard of this show since it was produced and filmed in England and we didn't get the University station until we got a bigger antenna, thank you Dad. Been hooked ever since. Now I'm an old fart of 65 who's never been married or engaged. Still not bad looking cause I still get a smile every now and then from women young and mature. Guess I liked the bachelor life too much. If I was looking for a girlfriend now or a wife she is still the type I would look for first. More mature but still major babeage. Thanks Nicola and stay safe.

I very much enjoyed this interview. Ive met both of them before (at conventions back in the day) and theyre both good people. Colins a very down to earth guy and a good actor, but in a way i think his version of the Doctor was given a dis-service as to how it was portrayed...he (the Drs character) had good bearts and wanted to do good, but came across loud and bombastic, not the best portrayal it couldve been,...but thats just me. When the show exploded in the U.S. in the early 80's the charm was so much due to the characters and storytelling (not the special effects for sure lol)...it was so unique and different. I remember when the show went on hiatus in '85 and came back with 'Trial of a Time Lord", which was a good concept. When Sylvester McCoy came in (another good actor) unfortunately his Doctor went the clowm-ish route, which i dont think helped either. By the time of the cancellation in '89-'90 it did need to be refitted and rethought. The newer version has been very good in its own right, but theres still something to be said for the older, 'classic' Who programs. In looking back at some of them from years ago, it brings back more clearly what drew us in and attracted us to the show in the first place. Thanks again for the interview!

19:28 with Colin's logic, this makes jodie whittaker still the doctor since her regeneration was shot in a different day as the other doctor. But then that goes the same for 9-10 as well as 12-13. Even war to 9 as Christopher Eccleston was cg'd in there. Maybe this logic should only include the classic era 😅

"Not to be self-conscious." Peter Capaldi could have learned a lot from Colin Baker. He came across as an extremely self-conscious man who was overcompensating and trying to make it look like he didn't care what people thought of him by being as loathsome as possible. It ended up backfiring because Peter Capaldi failed to convey that the Doctor knows he's the most powerful man in the universe unless he was portraying one specific emotion. Anger. In any other emotional state, Peter Capaldi had no sense of power or authority even when it was thrust on him by making him President of Earth. Hell, just look at the way he waddled towards the Foretold whilst looking like he was shitting his pants and compare that to when David Tennant fearlessly stared down Satan himself or when Sylvester McCoy walked away from a real life explosion without flinching. Furthermore, Peter Capaldi unintentionally resurrected the Valeyard by turning the Doctor into a sociopathic waste of a regeneration who needed other people to carry Doctor Who FOR him. Even as late as Face The Raven, I was half expecting the Valeyard to emerge and tell Clara Oswald that her death was a deliberate part of his plan. And that was after Peter Capaldi FINALLY started to get the Doctor right with his "Sit down and talk!" speech, which was the first time he felt like an actual incarnation instead of an imposter. For all the flaws in Colin Baker's era, he had enough screen presence and charisma to carry the show through several bad scripts and his Doctor never came across as a sociopath. I couldn't wait to get rid of Peter Capaldi but I'm upset that Colin Baker's time was cut short.

I thought Capaldi was great, everyone has their favourites and least favourites. I’d put both Colin and Peter close to the top of my list.

One of the things I love about Colin Baker's Doctor is that, for all his arrogance and bluster, I can tell he's actually a softy deep down. I didn't need Big Finish to know that Colin's an excellent Doctor and could easily have been one of the best if he had better scripts. I feel that Colin was able to convey the Doctor's softer side better than Peter Capaldi, despite the scripts going out of their way to portray the 6th Doctor as being as much of an asshole as possible. The thing is, 6 never came across as a sociopath. Arrogant? Absolutely. Unstable? Hell yes. A bit insane? Strangling Peri in a fit of temporary madness certainly got that across. But Colin never came across as outright sociopathic. Even after two men fell into an acid bath and he said the line "Forgive me if I don't join you", I got the feeling that he was rather disturbed by what had happened and trying to make light of it because there was nothing he could do to save the rapidly dissolving men at that point anyway. Actually, it might have been crueller to pull them out of the acid considering the agonising pain they would have been in. The biggest mistake Peter Capaldi made throughout Season 8 was playing the Doctor like a sociopath who somehow managed to have as little self-awareness than the 6th Doctor, which is almost impressive when you consider that 6 thought his ridiculous coat was perfectly respectable clothing. Because of Capaldi's lack of self-awareness in an arc that required a more introspective actor - John Hurt would have fit that role perfectly - the "Am I a good man?" character arc fell flat. Capaldi needed Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez to carry the show FOR him until he redeemed himself in Season 9.

It is a little sad listening to Colin Baker. He comes off as a fan than a former Doctor Who. Clearly, he is not totally over getting the sack after only two seasons.
