In my view, the Pro Controller is absolutely the best thing about the WiiU and I will continue using mine long, long after the WiiU itself is a distant memory. I love the feel, build quality, size and weight of this controller. It's excellent dpad and button placement make it absolutely ideal for retro gaming emulation, which is what I primarily use it for. Mayflash makes an adapter that converts the WiiU Pro Controller signal to dinput or xinput, turning it into a fully compatible PC, PS3, Vita TV and Android controller. With another adapter, the WiiU Pro Controller will also work on PS4 and Xbox One. There's even an adapter that will make the Pro Controller compatible with an SNES or NES! Of course it also works with the WiiU, but there's so much more the controller can do than just collect dust in the wasteland of WiiU releases. Probably the last major use as it was intended will be with the WiiU version of Zelda, but I'll continue using the Pro Controller to play all manner of things it wasn't intended to be able to play for years more to come.
Generally, of it's an option, I use the pro controller. The game pad is fine, but if I'm playing something that doesn't require it, you just can't beat that battery life.
I don't think baring an uncanny resemblance to the XBOX 360 controller is unfortunate at all. There's a reason so many companies copy it. It is THE design. It's tried and true. It has proven to be the most comfortable and ergonomic design to date. Know when to innovate but also know when to copy the best.
The Dual Shock was actually the last model of controller for the non-"One" "PS1" and was preceded by a Dual Analog controller that did not have rumble.
Man, i bought 4 of these controllers, mostly for Mario Kart, and was hoping they would work with the Switch, only to find out... THEY WON'T! I could habe sworn a Nintendo rep said it was going to be backwards compatible with all Wii and Wii U !egacy controllers. A huge step backwards IMO. No way I'm going to buy 4 more of these slightly different Pro controllers for another $70 each! Damn you Nintendo! Damn you to hell! ;I
+Martin Genzmer We just put up one on the Famicom Dojo channel about Vinnk's birthday, which was the same day as the Switch launch, another one being edited now about the Switch launch itself, and a whole bunch either in post-production or already scheduled to be released!
I hate how some games only support this controller and not the classic controller. As far as I am aware the only difference is the missing stick click on the classic controller. The only time you can't use a pro controller but can use a classic controller is in regular wii stuff as far as I can tell
Why ridicule it for being similar to the Xbox controller? Why all the things have to be different? There are design decisions that are just convenient and familiar and work, no need to raise fuss over reusing them. Instead the main point of the video seems to be "LOLOLOL look how they all steal shapes and button placements from each other".
roman rm Naw dude, the video is complaining about the complaints, and making the exact same points you are with examples of how things have been similar for so long already. Point of fact is that Nintendo's configuration here is entirely unique in the game industry.
