It's a godsend having a hardware Wi-Fi killswitch and a major security feature. Why would you want to be connected to the internet the whole time? By being isolated except when absolutely necessary you're greatly reducing your attack surface, which is probably the best method of being secure online... by not being online. Not to mention performance gains as you're not allowing everything to try to update all the time.
@@MikeDancy Awesome. The M6800 is the most powerful of the M-series and the last mobile workstation that Dell made with modularity in mind as well as legacy ports and slots. It started going downhill after that.
vid came up randomly in my feed after i was tryin' to find out more vids of my Dell Precision M6800 laptop i just bought and wow what a nice laptop and i would consider pickin' it up along with tha M4800 as well!
Hola. Buen video. Gracias.
I have the model with the i7, 16gb of ram and a 1080p screen. Mine also has the lighted keyboard. It's certainly no Precision m4800 but as an entry level workstation it's not half bad. Especially given the i7. I am sure the i5 would be a little underwhelming as would lower video card options but it's built like a tank and I am not really a gamer but it doesn't seem to have problems running all but demanding titles. Not bad considering this was aimed at CAD in the first place. If you install these modified drivers to fool it in to thinking it's a radeon I guess you could get a little better frames here and there. Not worth the trouble for my uses. Everything seems to be rock solid including the case. It should, the Latitude E series it's based from was rock solid as well. The m4800 is more powerful and offers better expansion options but was and still is expensive. You might get lucky and someone will sell something that they don't know what they got but most sellers sell them for crazy prices. Both typically go for a mint and that's because they're well built, 45 watt cpu options with a great cooling and a thick case. I would argue the Dell E series was always a better option to the Thinkpad T series on so many levels but that's more of a personal opinion that will anger peeps. Thinkpad lovers are highly dedicated people after all.
Yeah it is nice. I have another m6800 waiting to be reviewed but I recently fell back in love with the precision 7510 Not as much adaptability but still a tank. I made a video about it and a real tank which is the All Terrain Gear ATG. Actually I’d have a hard time picking between a ThinkPad and a E series.
@@MikeDancy I love the 7510 mainly because you can still use the classic docks that are miles above the thunderbolt docks. You can still use the thunderbolt docks but that classic docks are a little better at least in my opinion. People have gotten use to them over the years, but I know my newer Latitudes get fairly hot using them. Never had that problem with the classic docks..
Mike, I'm going to buy this soon, can you confirm if it supports 4K output via HDMI? I have to use it with my TV. Don't know if it has to be 30hz or 60hz but it sure should be 4K.
I "think" that it can output at 4K at 30Hz using the display port. but I didn't test it. This is a question for Reddit under Dell or Workstations or Computers. Let me know what they say though
loved the review although just for some clarification the cpu is a 4 core 8 thread i7 4810mq keep it up i started playing your videos in the background cause ur voice is nice
Hello friend, can you help me , I am trying to buy a motherboard for this laptop 1- when you look at the cpu frequency, can you laptop boost beyond 3ghz , because mine is locked to 2,7 ghz . , 2- is your one “VALA0 9411p “ or “VALA0 9413p “ , you can see it when you open back to change Ram , thank you
It looks almost identical to the Dell Latitude model E6540. Actually, if it didn’t say “Dell Precision” on it I’d come to the conclusion that it is in fact a Dell Latitude E6540.
sorry for my bad english, installing windows 10 in m2800 is tricky, but i have a trick and its work for me, idk is it work for you, after installing windows 10, dont connect to internet, install important driver immediately (intel driver, amd driver etc), dont use driver booster, driver pack etc, download driver from dell website, then disable automatic driver download when updating windows. this method is work for me, i think the problem of freezing is use latest version of amd driver cause hang. sorry for my bad english
@@MikeDancy How did you fix it :) or do you wanne do a video about that... Is like there not helping us DELL and AMD is giving drivers that makes the pc crash/f.
