Teachers of the Deaf provide a lifeline to deaf pupils - but the number of them working in mainstream schools has fallen by 40% in a decade and more are due to leave the profession in the coming years.
It's a shift that could further widen the attainment gap between deaf young people and their hearing peers.
Those in the job and those who benefit from their expertise say more needs to be done to stop the crisis.
